Global Pioener: Earth Second Change

130. The First Four-Star Island

  • Next Chapter

The next morning, Rangga finally set off.

His Level 4 ship left the dock of his private island and began sailing toward the destination that had been making him curious.

The destination was already set on the navigation screen.

Four-Star Island

The journey was estimated to take about an hour. Not long after the ship started moving, Rangga opened the Garuda regional chat.

Rangga: Mayor, I'm on my way. Heading there now.

It didn't take long for replies to start appearing.

Deri: Understood. Be careful out there, Sir.

Andre: Be careful, Bang. Let us know immediately if anything happens.

Fajar: Don't do anything reckless. If it's dangerous, turn back.

Siska: Don't forget to let me know too.

Rangga smiled as he read the last message.

Rangga: Yeah, yeah. Got it. Don't worry.

After that, he returned his attention to the journey.

An hour passed.

As the ship began approaching its destination, Rangga stood at the front of the vessel. In the distance, the island that had previously appeared only as a new marker on the system map finally came into view.

At first, nothing seemed particularly strange. However, as the ship drew closer, Rangga began to furrow his brow.

“Huh?”

He straightened up.

On the left side of the island, he could see a stretch of rough, rocky terrain. Several rock formations jutted out of the land, making the area look like a barren mountainous region.

But on the right side, an expansive savannah stretched out before him. Yellowing grass covered the land as far as the eye could see.

Rangga looked left, then right.

“Why...?”

He looked to the left again.

“Two biomes?”

The closer he got, the more obvious the difference became. One side of the island looked like a rocky region, while the other genuinely resembled a savannah.

“Usually, an island has just one theme, right?”

Rangga scratched his head.

“Why is this one split in two?”

The ship continued approaching until the system guided it toward the savannah side.

Not long afterward, the ship docked at the beach. Rangga disembarked and stepped onto the sand stretching along the shoreline.

At that moment, a notification appeared before him.

[SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENT]

Congratulations to the first Pioneer to reach a Four-Star Island.

Achievement recorded.

Rangga had only taken a few steps when he suddenly stopped.

“Huh?”

He looked around as if expecting to find the source of the announcement. However, there was nothing.

“That's unusual. An announcement?”

Rangga scratched his head. During his time in this world, announcements from the System Administrator hadn't appeared very often. Whenever the system made an announcement to all Pioneers, it usually meant something important had happened.

The last time such an announcement had appeared was when the system introduced the opportunity for Pioneers to become naturalized citizens of other nations.

“Why is it doing this now?”

Curious, Rangga immediately opened the Garuda regional chat.

Rangga: Mayor, I've arrived.

Several replies appeared immediately.

Andre: Everything safe?

Fajar: What's the island like?

Siska: Is there anything strange?

Rangga typed for a moment.

Rangga: Seems safe. But I just got an announcement from the Administrator.

The chat immediately became lively.

Andre: Yeah, I heard it too... What's going on?

Rangga: It said congratulations to the first Pioneer to reach a four-star island.

For a while, no one replied. Then Rangga sent another message.

Rangga: I don't know either.

Deri: The system never provided any information about this beforehand.

Rangga read all the replies while looking back at the island.

“So it's not just me who has no idea.”

He studied the area before him once more. From where he stood, the island looked fairly large. A savannah stretched across the nearby terrain, while farther to the left, he could see a rocky region with some rather striking formations.

Everything still looked normal then Rangga typed another message.

Rangga: All right, then. I'll explore the island first.

Deri: Be careful. Don't push yourself.

Fajar: If anything strange happens, let us know immediately.

Siska: Don't act tough when you're alone.

Rangga gave a small snort as he read the last message.

Rangga: Yeah, yeah. I'll look around first.

He closed the chat and looked around.

Sand, sea, and the expanse of savannah grass not far from the shoreline—all of it looked normal. There were no strange sounds, no giant creatures immediately attacking him, and nothing that looked particularly terrifying.

Still, the announcement had made it impossible for him to relax completely.

He stood there for a moment, gazing toward the rocky region in the distance.

“The first four-star island...” he murmured.

Rangga let out a quiet breath.

“Hopefully, it's just full of good loot.”

Remaining alert, he began walking away from the beach and into the savannah.

“And what's that place over there?”

He sighed.

“Whatever. I'll just explore first.”

Rangga then ventured into the savannah.

He walked slowly, occasionally glancing to his right and left. His first goal wasn't to search for resources, but to find a mechanical mount that could help him explore the island.

Not long afterward, he spotted something moving through the grass.

Rangga immediately stopped.

“Found one.”

A Mechanical Parasaurolophus was walking not too far away. Rangga quickly took out his bow and nocked an EMP Arrow.

“Don't you dare call the Gallimimus.”

He drew the bowstring.

FWOOSH!

The arrow shot forward and struck the Parasaurolophus.

KZZT!

The mechanical creature jerked, and its movements came to a complete stop.

“Perfect.”

Rangga immediately ran toward it, took out his Hijack Device, and attached the device to the Parasaurolophus.

A few seconds later, the indicator on the device lit up.

Hijack Successful.

Rangga smiled.

“Easy.”

The Parasaurolophus began moving again, but this time, it made no call to summon the Gallimimus. The creature was now under his control.

Rangga climbed onto its back.

“Let's go.”

The Parasaurolophus started running, and Rangga directed it toward the island's perimeter.

He wanted to circle the perimeter first before figuring out why this island had a sinking timer of almost a month.

“If it's just an ordinary resource island,” he murmured, “it shouldn't take that long.”

The Parasaurolophus continued running across the savannah.

The tall grass swayed in the wind as they passed. Rangga glanced several times toward the rocky region, which was now getting closer on his left.

He hadn't found anything strange yet, but that only made him more curious.

“Two biomes on one island...”

Rangga gazed into the distance.

“Then why did the system give it a timer of twenty-eight days?”

The Parasaurolophus picked up speed. Rangga continued following the island's perimeter, tracing the coastline and the edge of the savannah, while the rocky region gradually drew closer on his left.

For now, the Four-Star Island still looked like an ordinary island.

There were simply too many things he couldn't explain.
