Global Pioener: Earth Second Change
124. The Broken Hijack Device
That night, Rangga and Siska finally arrived at Deri’s private island. As usual, several Garuda Pioneers had already gathered to hand over the resources they had collected that day and get some rest.
However, unlike usual, Rangga’s steps were heavy. His shoulders drooped slightly, and his face looked utterly dejected. He was carrying the mining materials they had gathered, but his expression was that of someone who had just lost something incredibly valuable.
Andre, who had already been sitting near the gathering area, immediately noticed him.
“What happened to you?”
Rangga simply walked past him, and Andre narrowed his eyes before glancing at Siska walking behind him.
“Don’t tell me Siska drained you dry.”
Several people who heard him immediately burst out laughing.
“HAHAHA!”
Siska was completely unfazed.
“Rangga’s heartbroken.”
Rangga stopped, then slowly turned around.
“I’m not heartbroken.”
He reached into his bag and pulled something out. A Hijack Device that was badly burned and damaged.
“Look.”
Several people immediately came closer, and Rangga held up the device with a gloomy expression.
“Look at this. It’s wrecked.”
Andre took it for a moment and examined its blackened exterior.
“Damn... it’s seriously burned.”
“That’s why I don’t want to fight a Shantungosaurus again.”
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Rangga took the device back.
“I’d rather fight an Ankylosaurus. At least it doesn’t shoot electricity everywhere. All it does is whack you with its tail.”
Fajar, who heard him from behind, immediately laughed.
“‘All it does’?”
Rangga turned around.
“Well... I mean, compared to this.”
He raised the damaged Hijack Device again.
“Look. This hurts more than getting hit by a tail.”
Several Pioneers laughed again.
Deri, who had been watching all this, finally approached and took the device from Rangga’s hand. He turned it over several times, inspecting the burned sections.
“In that case, can’t you just make another one?”
Rangga immediately gave him an awkward smile.
“I could, Major.”
“Then?”
“The materials are hard to find.”
Deri nodded slowly.
“Then don’t recklessly fight creatures like that.”
He returned the device to Rangga.
“Especially when their attacks don’t just damage your body. The equipment you’re using can be destroyed as well.”
Rangga nodded, still looking gloomy.
“Yeah, Major. I’ve had enough.”
Andre, seeing him like that, patted Rangga on the shoulder.
“Come on, Bang. Don’t worry.”
Rangga looked at him.
“I’ve already upgraded my Production Bench.”
Rangga immediately raised his head slightly, and Andre continued casually.
“If you need to make another Hijack Device later, just use mine.”
Siska’s eyes immediately widened.
“Seriously, Bang? You already can?”
Andre leaned back with a proud look.
“Of course I can.”
He pointed at himself.
“That’s just how I roll.”
“Ooh, look at you,” one of the Pioneers teased.
Andre became even prouder, but Fajar immediately interrupted from behind.
“Yeah, right. He’s stingy. I asked him for Brass and he wouldn’t even give me any.”
Andre quickly turned around.
“Hey, I come first!”
“Why do you come first?”
“Because I’m the one with the Production Bench!”
Fajar snorted.
“Stingy.”
Andre ignored him and looked back at Rangga.
“If I find some Brass tomorrow, I’ll give it to you.”
Fajar immediately pointed at Andre.
“You’d better keep your word! We’ve got plenty of witnesses here.”
Andre sighed.
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll check my stock first.”
“Damn monkey.”
“Quit talking.”
The atmosphere was once again filled with laughter.
Rangga, who had been gloomy all this time, finally smiled faintly as well. He put the damaged Hijack Device back into his bag.
The night passed peacefully. They exchanged their gathered resources, talked about the islands they had visited, and discussed what each of them needed for their next technological developments.
But behind those simple conversations was a piece of news that mattered quite a bit.
Andre had successfully upgraded his Production Bench.
After Rangga and Siska, another Garuda Pioneer had now entered the next stage of technological development.
Slowly, one by one, they were moving forward together.
