Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 474: Releasing the Three Apes
Guli Geli had long been paying attention to the forest. She would gather information every time she visited a Tribe, and over the years, she had learned that the forest held vast resources. Every Tribe coveted these resources, and many had tried to obtain them by venturing into the forest, but all had failed without exception.
She would only occasionally hear of some daring adventurers who would venture into the forest and, after surviving by the skin of their teeth, bring back some rare resources, becoming rich overnight and reaching the pinnacle of their lives.
There were many rumors about the forest among the Grassland Tribes: that the forest was home to endless Void Creatures, that a city of Void Creatures lay deep within it, or that the Void Creatures were hiding a great army in the forest, planning to counterattack the grasslands.
All sorts of things were said, but without exception, they all spoke of the forest’s danger. Every year, tribesmen fantasizing about getting rich overnight would form groups and enter the forest, but very few ever made it out alive.
Yet now, Li Ziyu was saying he wanted to pass through the forest to reach the other side. In Guli Geli’s eyes, this wasn’t just a difficult task—it was a suicide mission. Even if her master possessed a massive city and an ocean of Skeletons, it would be impossible.
Seeing Guli Geli’s astonished expression, Li Ziyu couldn’t help but shake his head and smile. “You don’t have to worry so much. I’m not saying we’ll charge in right now. I’m not that foolish. It’s just a potential plan, and it requires preparation. At the very least, I need to witness more Void Creatures for myself before making a final judgment.”
Hearing him say this, Guli Geli finally relaxed a little. She had been genuinely afraid that the man before her would act on a rash impulse and charge straight into the forest.
The Undead Fortress might seem massive, but compared to the Forest Sea of the Void Land, it was nothing. If it charged in, it wouldn’t even make a ripple.
The Void Crystal was something Li Ziyu absolutely had to obtain. He also needed to hunt Void Creatures. If he couldn’t find Void Crystals on the grasslands, he would genuinely consider entering the forest.
After a moment of thought, Li Ziyu asked another question. “You all say there are many Void Creatures in the forest. Do they never come out?”
“Of course they come out. Every so often, the Void Creatures will charge out of the forest in swarms. They’ll Active attack any Tribe they encounter, and very few Tribes can withstand their assault.” Guli Geli shivered as she spoke, recalling some terrifying memories.
‘To be honest, she couldn’t even believe she had survived this long. It was nothing short of a miracle.’
Leaving aside the fact that she was a loner, just having experienced three Void Creature invasions and successfully surviving them was impressive enough.
Void Creatures were inherently difficult to kill, not to mention powerful in combat. Each time they swarmed out of the forest, they came in overwhelming numbers, destroying every Tribe in their path.
They were different from the tribespeople. Fights between Tribes were usually over resources, not for senseless slaughter or pointless conflict. But the Void Creatures were different. They seemed to exist purely for the sake of destruction, to annihilate all other life in the Void Land.
In any Tribe destroyed by the Void Creatures, no one was ever left alive.
Fighting the Void Creatures was a life-or-death battle. You either killed the Void Creatures, or you were killed by them. There was no point in surrendering.
This was why the tribespeople who managed to survive in the Void Land were all fierce and aggressive. Conflict was a common occurrence. Moreover, most of the tribespeople living here didn’t treat their lives as precious—unless they belonged to a clan-based Tribe, like the Black Ridge Tribe.
The Black Ridge Tribe was a branch of the Ape Race. Like a large extended family, while they had a strict hierarchy, they also protected their own people, making them more unified than the other Tribes on the grasslands.
