Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 422 203: Evil Spirit Patrol (Part 2)
Li Ziyu led Liu Xingxing out of the keep and started walking toward the Tank Manufacturing Plant. As they walked, he made small talk with Liu Xingxing. "Have you not been out recently? Just staying here at the Fortress?"
Liu Xingxing wore a pained expression and replied miserably, "It's been too chaotic outside these past few days. The Dragon Lizard Cavalry are everywhere. I don't dare to go out."
Hm?
Hearing mention of the Dragon Lizard Race, Li Ziyu's expression turned grim. He turned to look at Liu Xingxing. "What's going on? Is there a lot of cavalry outside, near us?"
Liu Xingxing quickly shook his head, explaining, "Not right around us, no. But Brother Peng said many Tribes have been plundered. That Dragon Lizard Lord is ruthless. He doesn't even spare the small Tribes. The Dragon Lizard Cavalry plunders every single Tribe it finds."
'He's acting less and less human.' Li Ziyu's eyes narrowed. 'The Dragon Lizard Lord's methods are just like those of so many other Transmigrator Lords. I mean, when you're this arrogant and tyrannical, how can you expect the Natives not to hate Transmigrator Lords? How could they not want to kill every last one of us?'
'When this hatred reaches its peak, a terrifying war is sure to erupt. This is exactly why Transmigrator Lords and Natives are beating each other's brains out in so many places.'
'In all likelihood, the battles in the Central Zone erupted for this very reason, and many other Transmigrator Lords suffered for it.'
'Not everyone is rational, but selfishness is rampant. It's not just Transmigrators; even in his past life, people who were completely self-serving, benefiting themselves at others' expense, were a dime a dozen. The moment trouble started, they'd feign innocence, shirk all responsibility, and then rally a group of sanctimonious hypocrites to go after the actual victim. It was an all-too-common sight.'
'Li Ziyu's long-held philosophy was to lay low and focus on development. He avoided fighting the Natives whenever possible. After all, this was their world. Who knew what kind of trump cards they held? One wrong move and his entire enterprise could capsize. Therefore, with the exception of truly malignant Races, Li Ziyu's policy toward others was generally one of conciliation. He wouldn't attack without provocation.'
'The Dragon Lizard Lord's actions were clearly just stirring up trouble. Once he's caused enough damage, left a ravaged Wasteland in his wake, he'll just dust himself off and take off, leaving me to clean up his mess.'
'As for this kind of troublemaker, Li Ziyu wanted nothing more than to eliminate him. Without a life-or-death struggle, this matter would never be resolved, and he would never be able to rest easy.'
He patted Liu Xingxing's shoulder, and his voice was grave. "We'll wait a little longer, for news from Zhang Peng. The moment we find that guy, I will make him pay the price. A person like him cannot be left alive."
A murderous aura emanated from Li Ziyu, making Liu Xingxing shiver.
Most modern people don't believe in so-called killing auras. But if someone has been through war, witnessed countless casualties, and even taken part in the killing, they truly develop a faint yet palpable presence. Normally it's not noticeable, but the moment they get angry, that presence is enough to make one's heart pound with fear.
Since his transmigration, Li Ziyu had led the Undead Race from place to place, experiencing countless slaughters. He had likely seen more killing than many veterans from the battlefields of his past life. This was brutal, close-quarters combat—a world of flowing blood and flying limbs. One could only imagine the psychological pressure it exerted on a person.
Having been in a position of command for so long, Li Ziyu's aura had grown increasingly powerful. Sometimes, Liu Xingxing could barely recognize him. Even though Liu Xingxing himself had been through a lot, he still felt a sense of dread whenever Li Ziyu was angry.
The two of them arrived at the Tank Manufacturing Plant as they talked. Li Ziyu opened the main gate and stepped inside.
This was Liu Xingxing's first time visiting the Tank Manufacturing Plant, and he looked around with curiosity. He had seen the structures from a distance, but seeing them up close was a completely different experience.
Everything here felt novel to him. The architectural style was a mix of the Undead Race and steampunk, completely different from any style in his past life or the Otherworld.
The main structures were still made of Skeletons; massive piles of them formed the buildings. Metal could be seen in the crevices, and the exteriors were covered in a multitude of brass pipes of varying thickness. At first glance, it all looked chaotic and random, as if connected arbitrarily, but a closer look revealed a kind of crude, savage beauty.
It was a bona fide industrial style.
In the factories required for Mechanical Technology, steam swirled everywhere, suggesting constant production. It made one feel as if they'd been transported back to a massive industrial workshop from the old days. The Tank Manufacturing Plant was no different; every so often, jets of white vapor would erupt from somewhere.
Liu Xingxing looked all around and asked curiously, "Boss, are you trying to start an industrial revolution in the Otherworld? This whole setup is amazing."
Li Ziyu shook his head. "What industrial revolution? This is all just for my troops. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. This whole complex took a ton of work, but things should be much more convenient from now on."
'That's right. It would only get more convenient from here,' he thought. 'The best part about Mechanical Technology is that while it's difficult at first, it gets progressively smoother. The more foundational technologies you unlock, the simpler the higher-level ones become.'
'Just think about it. How long did it take to research the Jet Shooter-1 back at the beginning? And now, for the much more complex Evil Spirit Motorcycle and Patrolling Knights, how long had that taken? The time required had been drastically reduced.'
'When he first started researching the Jet Shooter-1, he had to start from the most basic fundamentals—smelting, metallurgy, Metal Tubes, and so on. He had to do everything from scratch, step by step, so of course, it was slow. But by the time he got to the Evil Spirit Wanderer, everything was much simpler. That was because the vast majority of the required technologies were already unlocked. He didn't have to research them again; he could just use them.'
