Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 417 201: Swift Dragon Rider
"Retreat! Go back and tell the City Lord!"
The Rapid Knight Captain saw the situation clearly. They probably wouldn't gain anything this time. The enemy was too strong; they needed more reinforcements. He immediately gave the order to retreat, and the Dragon Mounts carried the remaining Dragon Lizard Knights away at top speed, never looking back.
Liu Xingxing watched the departing Swift Knights with no intention of giving chase. 'The enemy has retreated. Now I have to get out of here too. If they come back with reinforcements, the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress won't be able to handle it. I need to get back to the Undead Fortress, fast.'
The Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress turned and began moving toward the Undead Fortress at top speed.
[Private Chat]
Treasure Hunting Star: Boss, save me!
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: ???
Treasure Hunting Star: I ran into those Dragon Lizards you were talking about.
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: !!! Where did you run into them? Are you okay?
Treasure Hunting Star: I just ran into a hundred-man squad. I drove them off. I'm fine, and I'm heading your way now!
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: Should I send someone to provide backup?
Treasure Hunting Star: Not for now. Just giving you a heads-up. If I get chased down, remember to come rescue me!
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: Are you messing with me?
Treasure Hunting Star: No, I'm reporting in. I just tested out the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type.
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: How was it? My Jet Shooter-1 has some serious, awesome firepower, right?
Treasure Hunting Star: The Jet Shooter-1 is definitely awesome, but the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type is too slow. If the enemy hadn't suddenly done something stupid, it probably wouldn't have killed anyone. The range is just too short.
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: !!!
Treasure Hunting Star: It's not practical.
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: !!!
Treasure Hunting Star: I'll tell you the details when I get back.
Don't Want to Get a Driver's License: Alright, I'll wait for you. Hurry back, and don't let them catch you.
Treasure Hunting Star: Don't worry. When it comes to escaping, I'm a pro.
Li Ziyu closed Liu Xingxing's chat window and grimaced. 'The Skeleton Shooter-1 Type's strengths and weaknesses are both obvious. If you can't mitigate the weaknesses, they're fatal. Liu Xingxing clearly didn't consider that. He must have just sent the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type straight into the fray and got completely routed.'
'Right, I need to keep developing new Weapons. The Jet Shooter-1 is just too limited. It needs to be used in coordination with other troops.'
The tactic Li Ziyu came up with was to embed the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type within the Sea of the Dead. It would charge alongside the other Undead, using the Skeleton Undead as bait to escort it into effective range. Once within range, it could unleash its advantages: high burst and area-of-effect damage.
'Using the Skeleton Shooter on its own is definitely tough.'
"Lord City Lord, we've reached the Fortress," Tas Tuling said, approaching Li Ziyu to remind him.
Li Ziyu looked up. Sure enough, the Undead Fortress was now clearly visible. Another ten minutes or so and they would be there.
Behind them, the Snake-men of the Senunet Tribe were so shocked their pupils had narrowed to vertical slits. They stared dumbly at the sprawling complex of white bone buildings ahead, expressions of unease and fear returning to their faces. They had the urge to flee, but they had already signed a contract. Even if they ran, they could not escape. Living, they were the Undead's people; dead, they would be the Undead's ghosts.
The closer they got, the clearer and more massive the structures became. As Natives of the Wasteland, they had never even seen a two-story building before; how could they possibly comprehend a structure so immense?
"This is where you'll be living from now on," Tas Tuling said to Zaliki, pointing to the nearby Undead Fortress.
"Y-you... you live in there?" Zaliki asked, stammering as his tongue flicked in and out.
"That's right. This is a great place. You don't have to be afraid; the Undead won't attack you. Relax." Seeing the look on Zaliki's face, Tas Tuling thought for a moment and understood. He smiled reassuringly. 'It's true that anyone would be scared the first time they see the Undead Fortress. It took us some time to get used to it, too. It's understandable.'
