Chapter 415 - 201: Swift Dragon Rider

Swift Dragon Rider was the true name for this unit of Raptor Cavalry.

The Dragon Lizards were an inherently powerful combat Race. Compared to ordinary Lizardmen, they possessed far greater Power. The scales covering their bodies were denser and tougher than those of a normal Lizardman, providing them with considerable physical and Magic Defense Power—it was like wearing an extra suit of Armor.

Their Dragon Race bloodline brought them an all-around enhancement. In addition to their scale-covered bodies, their Power was greater than that of normal Lizardmen. Furthermore, they had a natural affinity for Magic Elements such as fire, ice, and poison. Consequently, nearly all Dragon Lizard People were Magic Warriors.

Their Magic wasn’t necessarily profound, but it still granted them greater combat prowess.

Coupled with their various Sub-dragon Series Dragon Mounts, their strength was elevated even further, making them fierce and formidable.

This troop of Swift Dragon Riders was a Plundering squad sent out to raid. Their Velociraptors possessed extremely high Speed, allowing them to attack and retreat with ease.

Facing the Treasure-Hunting Catman Mobile Fortress, the Swift Dragon Riders showed no fear. They were even eager for a fight—challenging a powerful foe was such a thrilling prospect.

HFFT—KLAK KLAK!

The Velociraptors snorted jets of air from their nostrils, their mouths rapidly opening and closing to produce clacking sounds. They were signaling one another; when it came to hunting, Velociraptors possessed exceptionally brilliant tactical intelligence.

The lead Swift Dragon Rider kicked his Dragon Mount’s belly. The Velociraptor moved forward slowly, its head swiveling left and right, its eyes shifting as it relayed information to its packmates. After advancing about ten meters, the Velociraptor suddenly accelerated, launching into a serpentine Charge toward the Treasure Hunting Catmen.

The other Swift Dragon Riders followed suit, taking the Bows and Arrows from their backs, drawing their strings, and aiming their arrows at the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress.

"They’re coming!" Liu Xingxing shouted, lowering his binoculars.

The Treasure Hunting Catmen sprang into action. Each took their posts, started up the fortress, and charged forward to meet the enemy.

Liu Xingxing didn’t flee immediately. He was a man who cared about his reputation. If the enemy had been numerous, he would have run without a second thought. But there were only 100 of them. If he ran now, Zhang Peng would laugh himself to death when he got back. Besides, he had Black Knight guards at his side and Skeleton Shooter-1 Types on the platform. ’This is the perfect opportunity to test their might,’ he thought.

The two sides charged toward each other, neither willing to back down.

The Velociraptors carried the Dragon Lizard Knights closer and closer. With a flash of light, their arrows ignited into flames. The Dragon Lizard Knights lightly relaxed their fingers, and the arrows instantly shot forth, flying toward the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress.

The arrows were quite powerful. Some pierced the fortress’s wooden planks, injuring the Catmen cowering behind them. Fortunately, no Catmen died; they only suffered minor wounds. The Treasure Hunting Catmen mostly used Crossbow Arrows, which had a much shorter range than the Swift Dragon Riders’ bows. The Catmen only began to fire when their fortress was closer.

Unfortunately, the Swift Dragon Riders’ reactions were also extremely fast. After loosing a volley of arrows, their Velociraptors immediately wheeled around and scattered, rendering the Treasure Hunting Catmen’s shots fruitless.

The much-anticipated Skeleton Shooter-1 Types didn’t even fire a single shot. They just stood foolishly on the platform. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to attack; the enemy was simply too far away. Their maximum attack range was fifty meters, with an effective range of only twenty. Standing on the fortress, they couldn’t possibly hit the Swift Dragon Riders, especially with how fast they were.

Liu Xingxing quickly realized this. Although they had the high ground, the Skeleton Shooter-1 Types’ Weapons weren’t arrows, but shotguns. They were useless unless they got up close.

’They can’t just stand on the fortress, I have to send them down!’

Liu Xingxing immediately commanded the Skeleton Shooter-1 Types, telling them to find an opportunity to get down on their own.

As soon as the command was given, the Skeleton Shooters immediately took action. What did "find an opportunity to get down" mean? It meant jump, of course. As Undead, they were fearless.

One by one, the heavy, punk-styled figures leaped from the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress, landing with a heavy THUD. Fortunately, the Parts they were made of could withstand a jump from such a height.

The Swift Dragon Riders, who were busy dodging Crossbow Arrows, heard the noise from behind and turned to look. They saw the Skeleton Shooters that had jumped from the fortress leisurely giving chase and nearly burst out laughing.

’What a joke,’ one thought. ’If they can actually catch up, I might as well just fall on my own sword. At the Skeleton Shooters’ Speed, never mind us on Velociraptors, even someone on foot would be faster than them. This is just insulting.’

One Dragon Lizard Knight had his Velociraptor circle around and head toward a Skeleton Shooter. From a hundred meters away, he drew his bow and fired. A flaming arrow pierced through the Armor on the Skeleton Shooter’s chest. The Metal Plate around the point of impact glowed red-hot.

The Skeleton Shooter looked down, nonchalantly grabbed the arrow’s shaft, pulled it out, and tossed it aside. It then continued its slow advance toward the Swift Dragon Rider.

’Slow Speed, decent Defense, but it’s useless,’ the Swift Dragon Rider quickly concluded. ’It’s just a Passive punching bag. It’ll just get kited to death in the end.’

In no time, the Skeleton Shooter was struck by several more arrows. Although it could still move, this couldn’t go on. Sooner or later, its Power Core would be destroyed, and the Skeleton Shooter would become completely useless.

"Damn, the Boss’s new troops are underwhelming," Liu Xingxing grimaced as he watched the Swift Dragon Rider deftly maneuver, constantly firing arrows to toy with the Skeleton Shooter.
