Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 402 - 196: Snake-man Wanderers 3

  • Next Chapter

The lead Snake-man stared at the approaching Undead, his face etched with anxiety. He spoke again, "The Undead are coming! If you won’t run, then you can stay here and wait to die!"

Having said his piece, the Snake-man prepared to lead his people away. But just as he moved, a Minotaur took a step forward and slammed his Totem Pole heavily onto the ground, producing a dull thud.

THUD!

"I’d like to see anyone try to move!" the Minotaur bellowed, his bull-like eyes wide and fierce.

"Are you tired of living? The Undead are right on top of us! If you want to die, fine, but don’t drag us down with you!" the lead Snake-man hissed, his forked tongue flicking. He then urged his people to hurry and leave the area. If they were too slow and the Undead surrounded them, it would be a disaster.

’The Snake-man truly couldn’t understand. Why were these dozen or so Minotaurs ignoring the Undead? Hadn’t they seen them? Why weren’t they running?’

’If the Minotaurs wanted to face the Undead instead of fleeing, that was their business. He and his people had no obligation to die with them.’

The Snake-men wanted to leave, but the Minotaurs wouldn’t let them. It was out of the question. They had gone to summon the Lord City Lord, and if he arrived to find the Snake-men gone, they would be in serious trouble.

The Minotaurs hefted their Totem Poles and began to encircle the Snake-men.

’Damn it! Not only are you not running, you’re stopping us from running too? You people are suicidal!’

The lead Snake-man panicked. Although there were only a dozen or so Minotaurs against his several hundred Snake-men, and they could probably win even against the powerful Minotaurs, it was not that simple. They had many elderly and weak among them, not to mention children. With the Undead closing in, if a fight broke out and they were delayed, it would be a catastrophe.

"What in the world are you trying to do!" the lead Snake-man cried out urgently. At the same time, he ordered his people to have the women, elderly, and children flee first while the male Snake-men held the line.

The Snake-men at the rear parted to form a path, and the women, elderly, and children of the tribe began to run through the newly opened corridor.

"Don’t you run!" a Minotaur shouted upon seeing this.

But the Snake-men were in no mood to listen. The males drew their Weapons and blocked the Minotaurs’ path. Their traditional Weapons were Dual Swords, curved like a serpent’s fangs. The blades were coated with a poison so deadly it could kill with a single scratch.

From a distance, the sharp-eyed Tas Tuling, who was rushing over, spotted the situation up ahead. He quickly turned his head to Li Ziyu and said, "Lord City Lord, something’s wrong up front."

Li Ziyu also noticed the Minotaurs confronting the Snake-men. ’Did something go wrong?’

He waved his hand, signaling the Undead to increase their Speed. He then ordered Tas Tuling and Mumu to go on ahead and see what was happening. ’Things were fine just a moment ago,’ he wondered. ’Why the sudden hostility?’

Mumu and Tas Tuling acknowledged the order and broke away from the Undead ranks, accelerating toward the confrontation.

Up ahead, the Minotaurs brandished their Totem Poles, facing off against the Snake-men. Seeing that the Snake-men were not only ignoring them but also trying to flee, the Minotaurs grew anxious. They raised their Totem Poles, preparing to charge forward and block the escapees, while their opponents brandished their own Weapons, ready to fight for their lives.

ZZZZT—BOOM—

A crackling sound of electricity suddenly filled the air, followed by a bolt of lightning that slammed down between the Minotaurs and the Snake-men. The blast startled both sides into stopping. They looked toward the point of impact and saw a Minotaur, Totem Pole in hand, slowly rising to his feet.

"What in the blazes are you doing?"

"Tas Tuling! Perfect timing! They’re trying to run away!"

The Minotaur breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing it was one of his own. He then pointed at the Snake-men, who had already managed to run some distance, and shouted.

Hearing this, the lead Snake-man grew even more tense. He tightened his grip on his Dual Swords, his eyes warily fixed on the sky-fallen Tas Tuling.

"You’re the one who led the Undead here?" the lead Snake-man asked in disbelief.

’Why? This is the first time we’ve met. I haven’t done anything to offend him. Why would he be so cruel as to lead the Undead here to kill us? Can it be that the heavens truly wish for our destruction?’

A wave of desolation washed over the lead Snake-man’s heart.
