Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 397 - 195: The Desert Bandits Collapsed
The arrow the Lizardman shot was effortlessly blocked by the Black Knight’s Armor. This was well within his expectations—that shot had just been a probe. He never expected it to succeed. As Desert Bandits charged past him one after another, the Lizardman reached into his Quiver and drew a pure white arrow.
This pure white arrow was no ordinary projectile. Its shaft was crafted from a wooden core and had been soaked in a Secret Potion for an entire year. The arrowhead was made of White Steel, making it not only sharp but also incredibly hard. Tattoos were carved into the shaft, further enhancing the arrowhead’s sharpness and granting it an Armor-Piercing Effect—perfect for dealing with heavily armored foes.
The Lizardman had never once used this Enchanted Arrow since obtaining it. The pure white arrow was simply too precious, and the races of the Wasteland rarely wore Heavy Armor, so there had never been a real need for it. Today, however, presented the perfect opportunity to test its power.
He drew his bow, nocked the arrow, and aimed at the Black Knight at the very front. The Tattoos on the pure white arrow flared to life as the Wind Element converged, massing around the projectile. A whirlwind of air enveloped both the Lizardman and his arrow.
The Black Knight sensed the aura of Magic but didn’t spare the Lizardman a single glance, his gaze remaining fixed on the charging enemies.
’Such arrogance! To just ignore me... Fine, don’t blame me for this. This arrow will be your doom!’
The Lizardman released his grip. Wreathed in the whirlwind, the arrow shrieked as it shot forward, blasting straight toward the Black Knight.
The arrow was incredibly fast. At this range, there was no way the Lizardman could miss. It zipped through the gaps between the charging Desert Bandits, stirring up a gale that coalesced into a roaring dragon of wind.
Zhang Peng’s head snapped up, his eyes widening. ’A Magic Arrow?!’
’What a waste!’
’If you’re just going to give it away, give it to me! Even if I can’t use it, I could sell it for a fortune!’
Faced with the incoming Wind Arrow, Zhang Peng wasn’t afraid. Instead, he was grief-stricken by the Lizardman’s wastefulness.
Magic Arrows like this Wind Arrow were a hot commodity. They were incredibly easy to sell, fetched a high price, and were so rare you could almost never find one for sale. For many small Tribes, a single Magic Wind Arrow was like gaining a new trump card.
The arrow was far faster than the charging Desert Bandits, quickly overtaking them. Faced with the projectile, the Black Knight remained perfectly calm. It raised its Longsword and, with a turn of its wrist, drew a circle in the air before it.
And then... it was over. The wind died. The arrow shattered.
Watching the Black Knight so calmly and effortlessly slice the Wind Arrow in two, the Lizardman archer’s jaw nearly hit the floor.
He had imagined many possible outcomes: the Wind Arrow piercing the Black Knight, the Wind Arrow being stopped by the Armor, the Black Knight batting the Wind Arrow aside with its Sword. But he had never, ever considered the possibility that it would simply be sliced in two.
It was no different than if someone had tossed a small Wooden Stick at the Black Knight, and it had casually chopped it in half.
’But that was a Wind Arrow! An Enchanted Arrow, carrying terrifying Magic Energy! The shaft itself was specially crafted, harder than steel! How could it possibly be sliced apart so easily?!’
Behind the Black Knight, Zhang Peng’s face twitched and his hand trembled. ’It’s ruined. Broken. No salvage value left. A complete loss.’
He desperately wanted to run up to the Lizardman and demand, ’Are you an idiot? Why the hell would you use such a fine arrow on a Black Knight? Are you insane?’
’The Black Knights are a core unit of the Skeleton Undead. They’re no joke! Forget a single Magic Arrow—a Black Knight can shrug off powerful spells from a Mage. They have terrifyingly high Magic Resistance!’
Among the many titles held by the Black Knights, besides "Battlefield Executioner," was "Mage’s Bane."
After slicing the Wind Arrow in two, the Black Knight brought its Longsword back, holding it upright before its chest. It made no further move.
The charging Desert Bandits faltered, their eyes filled with shock and uncertainty as they stared at the Black Knight. Something wasn’t right. A few of the Desert Bandits turned to look quizzically at the Lizardman archer, as if to ask: *What was that about?*
To miss at such close range, and have your arrow sliced in two?
"What are you waiting for? Get up there and kill them!" the Arrow Boar roared, pointing his Sword at the Black Knight and Zhang Peng, furious that his men had suddenly slowed down.
With their leader having spoken, the Desert Bandits had no choice but to resume their charge toward the Black Knights.
The Black Knight at the front didn’t even bother to move. Two of the Black Knights protecting Zhang Peng stepped forward, dragging their Longswords as they advanced to meet the charging Desert Bandits.
SWISH—
A cold glint flashed through the air, and four Desert Bandits were instantly decapitated.
They tried to parry, but it was useless. Their Weapons were sliced through along with their necks. The sharpness of the Black Knights’ Longswords was beyond imagination—they were Weapons that simply could not be blocked.
The two Black Knights plunged into the crowd, Longswords flashing as they carved a path of destruction. Not a single person who dared to cross blades with them survived. Severed limbs flew through the air.
The Arrow Boar watching from the rear was dumbfounded. He silently withdrew the foot he had just taken forward. ’This is too damn brutal, isn’t it?’
The Black Knights couldn’t even be bothered to take the Desert Bandits seriously. They simply advanced and swung their swords. One by one, the bandits seemed to rush to their deaths, delivering their own necks, hearts, and torsos onto the blades. Meanwhile, their own attacks seemed intentionally skewed, always striking empty air. Their blades, missing by a hair’s breadth, scraped harmlessly past the edges of the Black Knights’ Armor.
Over two hundred Desert Bandits, and not one of them could land a blow on the two Black Knights. They could only watch helplessly as their comrades fell one after another.
