Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 391 193: A Share for You
Li Ziyu thought it over and decided to create 100 Skeleton Shooter-1 Types to start. The Undead's Mechanical Technology still required further development, and there were many more firearms to come. Perhaps more suitable troop types would become available later. Since there were no immediate battles, there was no need to expend a large amount of resources manufacturing the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type.
After scheduling the production of the 100 Skeleton Shooter-1 Types, Li Ziyu sent a message to Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng, telling them to come back for a visit when they had time. He had a surprise for them.
That's right. Li Ziyu was planning to give some of the Skeleton Shooter-1 Types to the two of them. Since they were always out in the field anyway, it was the perfect opportunity to test the new units' effectiveness.
Upon receiving the message, Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng immediately agreed, both saying they would return as soon as possible. They hadn't seen Li Ziyu in a month; the last two times they had returned, they had been unable to meet with him. Now that Li Ziyu was finally out of his seclusion, the two of them naturally wanted to come back for a visit.
「Three days later.」
"Boss, I'm back!" With a cheer, Liu Xingxing burst into the room, shouting excitedly.
"You're late," Zhang Peng said calmly, turning his head. He had had his back to Liu Xingxing.
"NONONO, Boss never said *when* we had to be back. You're just early!" A brilliant smile on his face, Liu Xingxing ran to the table. Spotting the feast spread across it, he immediately sat down.
Meng Ni brought him a set of utensils and made a face at him. Liu Xingxing immediately made one back at her, and Meng Ni ran off, giggling.
"Xingxing, it's been a month. You seem even more… energetic than before?" Li Ziyu said with a smile as he looked at Liu Xingxing.
"Yep. He used to be like a happy Golden Retriever. Now he's a Husky off its leash," Zhang Peng added from the side.
"Bah! Zhang Peng, can't you ever say anything nice!" Liu Xingxing cried out in dissatisfaction.
"You do it, then. If you can spit out ivory, I guarantee I'll help you sell it for a good price." Zhang Peng never cut Liu Xingxing any slack. The kid was too hyper and needed to be taken down a peg every now and then.
'They've both changed in the month I haven't seen them.' Li Ziyu watched the bickering pair, and the smile on his face widened.
Zhang Peng still had dark circles under his eyes and a listless air about him, but he'd put on some weight. Liu Xingxing, on the other hand, was just as Zhang Peng had described: even more cheerful and bursting with energy.
"Bo-Boss, what kind of superweapon were you working on, locked up in your room all this time?" Liu Xingxing asked, his words muffled as he stuffed his face with food.
At this, Zhang Peng also raised his head and looked at Li Ziyu. He was curious too. Li Ziyu had never been in seclusion for this long; they had returned several times without being able to see him. 'For him to be so focused,' he thought, 'he might have actually created a superweapon.'
The tribes of the Wasteland never learned their lesson. Right after the war against the Alliance Army, they had all been scared into silence. The slightest rumor about the Undead would terrify them. When Zhang Peng had first started expanding his trade routes, he could go wherever he pleased just by relying on the "Banner of the Undead."
But lately, Zhang Peng had felt something was wrong. Perhaps because Li Ziyu's Undead had made no move and had remained docile in the Wraith Mountain Range, the tribes were starting to feel bold again. They were getting active, and Zhang Peng had already run into several groups of Otherworld Natives who intended to rob him.
As the saying goes, harmony brings wealth. If you want your business to expand, "harmony" is the most important thing. These people causing him trouble made Zhang Peng very unhappy, though it wasn't as if he'd suffered any major losses. At his current stage of development, even without the help of the Undead, he was beyond being robbed by some Native bandits. The sheer scale of the Gopher Fortress was enough to crush them.
"You want to know?" Li Ziyu laughed heartily at his words, put down his food, and looked at Liu Xingxing.
He had called the two of them back for two reasons. One was to have them help test how effective the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type was. The other, of course, was to show off. He had spent so long creating this new troop type; if he didn't flaunt it a little, wouldn't that be like wearing a magnificent robe in the dead of night?
Liu Xingxing nodded eagerly, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"Alright then. After we eat, I'll take you to see them," Li Ziyu said smugly.
Seeing him act like this, how could Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng possibly have any appetite left? They quickly put down their food and urged Li Ziyu to get going.
Seeing their excitement, Li Ziyu stopped eating as well. He led the two of them out of the fortress and toward the workshop where he had stationed the Skeleton Shooter-1 Types. The Black Knights and Skeleton Knights were there too.
"Careful now, don't let your jaws drop. And now... ta-da!"
Li Ziyu turned to look at Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng with a cheerful grin as he spoke. Then, with a wave of his hand, he threw open the workshop doors.
Three perfectly square formations appeared before them. An overwhelming aura washed over the pair, and Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng were instantly stunned.
"Ho… ly… shit…" Liu Xingxing muttered, staring at the three formations before him.
'These were three troop types I've never seen before. I don't even need to see them on the battlefield. Just looking at them standing there silently, I can tell they're not to be trifled with. The old Undead can't even compare!'
From left to right, the formations consisted of Black Knights, Skeleton Knights, and Skeleton Shooter-1 Types.
The Black Knights stood a little over two meters tall, clad from head to toe in Heavy Armor—truly armed to the teeth. They stood motionless like armored statues, leaning on their two-handed Black Knight Longswords. They emanated an aura that was chilling to the bone. Anyone could tell with a single glance that these were Heavy Warriors capable of running rampant across any battlefield.
