Chapter 389 - 192: Punk Unit (2)

[Construction Requirements: Skeleton x500 units, Stone x200 units, Wood x200 units, Copper Ingot x200, Iron Ingot x200, Spiritual Core x1]

[Area Occupied: 50 units]

After building the Skeleton Transformation Workshop, a brand-new unit type was unlocked. The Skeleton Shooter-1 Type had now joined Li Ziyu’s luxurious menu of troop options.

The first Skeleton Shooter-1 Type was already being manufactured. This thing wasn’t cheap; it required a lot of resources.

[Skeleton Shooter-1 Type]

[Introduction: The first successful Mechanical Skeleton Undead developed through mixed Mechanical Technology research. Their creation is owed to a shotgun called the Jet Shooter-1. Among the many Mechanical Skeleton Undead, the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type is the oldest model, but even so, they still possess considerable combat capabilities.]

[Requirements: Skeleton Undead x1, Skeleton x10 units, Soul Energy x300 units, Spiritual Core x1, Copper Ingot x20, Gears x100, Mixed Material Long Tube x10, Parts x100, Jet Shooter-1 x1]

Just looking at this pile of materials made Li Ziyu’s scalp tingle. ’Are we sure this is for modifying a Skeleton Undead and not building a chariot or something?’

It required twenty Copper Ingots alone; he couldn’t even imagine how heavy a Skeleton Shooter-1 Type would be!

Li Ziyu was desperate to see this new unit. This one was different from the others; he had spent over a month, back and forth, to get it done. Now that he was just one step away from the finish line, his eagerness was palpable, and the wait felt agonizingly long.

As he stared with longing, the clanging and banging from the Skeleton Transformation Workshop finally ceased. Li Ziyu stood at the workshop’s entrance, filled with anticipation.

CLANK, CLANK, CLANK...

The heavy, metallic footsteps echoed as a brand-new Skeleton Undead, steeped in a mechanical steampunk style, walked out of the transformation workshop step by step.

Li Ziyu’s eyes widened as he watched the Skeleton Undead walk out. ’Holy shit, did I just build a robot?!’

’This modification is a bit much!’

He had sent an ordinary Skeleton Undead into the transformation workshop, one that was about 175cm tall. Now, after a round of modifications, the Skeleton Undead’s height exceeded 200cm.

The change in height was the least of it. Li Ziyu could barely recognize the Skeleton Undead standing before him.

The Skeleton Shooter-1 Type’s skull was encased in a layer of metal, sealing even its eye sockets and nasal cavity. Only the upper and lower jawbones remained exposed, as if it were wearing a full-face helmet. Even its Soul Fire was no longer visible.

Looking down, its rib cage had also been modified, reinforced with a thick Metal Plate that obscured the inside. Metal Tubes ran from within, connecting to its arms. Its original bone arms had been replaced with hybrid metal arms, exposing numerous Parts and springs. And the Jet Shooter-1—the one that was difficult to load and had terrifying recoil—was now mounted on its right arm.

Its legs had also been completely refitted with what were clearly very heavy greaves, from which metal struts connected up to its chest cavity.

Li Ziyu bent down and peered inside the chest cavity. It was packed full of Gears and Parts. At the center of it all was a faintly glowing Spiritual Core. This was the device that powered the entire assembly; if the Energy in the Spiritual Core ran out, the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type wouldn’t even be able to move.

As the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type moved, steam constantly billowed from its body with a HISSING sound.

’I made this?’

Li Ziyu could hardly believe his eyes. ’Even in my previous life, there probably wasn’t technology like this, right? This is the kind of thing you only see in movies, isn’t it?’

Ever since he’d transmigrated, Li Ziyu felt like his heart had grown stronger. After all, a person could transmigrate and become the City Lord of a Mobile Fortress in a world with Demons, Giant Beasts, Giant Dragons, and all sorts of other strange Races, not to mention completely supernatural things like Magic and Spiritual Energy. You had to have a strong heart. But this, he still found a bit hard to accept.

Technology was what Humans were most familiar with. What Transmigrator didn’t know about technology? And while Victorian Steampunk Technology was fictional, it was still based on concepts people understood. Everyone could tell the difference between what was real and what wasn’t.

But when real punk-style technology was created and appeared right before his eyes, the impact was immense!

It was like meeting a group of primitive people clad in Beast Hides who had never even seen cloth before, only for them to suddenly give you a sly grin, turn around, and pull out rocket launchers and Barrett rifles. It was a feeling full of shock, bewilderment, and unreality.

’Is the technology of the Otherworld inferior to my previous life’s?’

Before seeing the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type, Li Ziyu would have confidently said yes, it was inferior to the world he came from—the difference was like that between heaven and earth.

But now, he wasn’t so sure. Perhaps the Otherworld’s technology wasn’t as convenient for daily life as that of his previous world, but when it came to warfare, all bets were off.

He was only just unlocking the low-end Mechanical Technology of the Undead Race. Who knew what else might appear as he continued to unlock more? Besides, Mechanical Technology wasn’t even the Undead Race’s most important technology—Spiritual Technology was!

Li Ziyu swallowed hard, trying to accept the reality before him. He felt that from now on, he wouldn’t even be surprised if he saw a mothership on the battlefield.

After composing himself, Li Ziyu took the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type to run some tests.

Several targets had been prepared for this test: thick wooden planks, thick wooden planks covered in metal, and even targets hammered out of solid metal. All of them were specifically for testing the Skeleton Shooter-1 Type.
