Chapter 387 - 191: Shotgun, Ah 3

’I should call an Undead over to do a test. To be safe, I’ll have the Frenzied Skeleton do it.’

The Physical Skeleton would actually be the most reliable choice. Even if the gun exploded, it probably wouldn’t be harmed. Unfortunately, that one was just too big. The Jet Shooter-1 would be a mere toy in its hands, rendering any test results useless. The Frenzied Skeleton, at least, had a more normal build, which would make for a more straightforward observation.

Answering Li Ziyu’s summons, the Frenzied Skeleton quickly ran up to the rooftop. As usual, the creature didn’t take the normal route. It fucking climbed up the side of the building, and its sudden appearance made Li Ziyu jump.

"Here, take this. Aim at that wooden plank up ahead. Pull the trigger—this thing right here." Li Ziyu handed the Jet Shooter-1 to the Frenzied Skeleton and pointed at a thick wooden plank. Afraid the Undead wouldn’t understand, he made sure to explain what the trigger was.

BOOM—

Li Ziyu had just finished explaining where the trigger was. He was still bent over and hadn’t even had a chance to straighten up and move away when he saw the Frenzied Skeleton pull the trigger. A deafening blast exploded next to his ear.

The acrid smell of gunpowder filled his nostrils. A loud ringing overwhelmed his ears, blocking out all other sound. His vision swam with double images, and he swayed on his feet, nearly falling. He stumbled a few steps, clutching his ears as he struggled to stay upright.

Li Ziyu shook his head hard. After a good while, his double vision finally faded, and the ringing in his ears began to subside. He lowered his hands and tried to stand straight, only to stumble two more steps before being caught in a soft embrace.

"Master... Master... Master..."

The voice in his ear grew from a murmur to a clear cry. Li Ziyu turned his head and saw Mengmeng, her face a mask of panic.

A moment ago, when Li Ziyu had excitedly gone to test the gun, a curious Mengmeng and Meng Ni had followed him. When the Frenzied Skeleton pulled the trigger, the tremendous bang had stunned the two Cat Girls as well. But they were farther away and recovered quickly from the shock. Seeing Li Ziyu swaying on the verge of collapse, Mengmeng had rushed forward to catch him.

"Master, are you all right?"

Mengmeng asked anxiously. Meng Ni ran over too, watching Li Ziyu with a worried expression.

Li Ziyu took two deep breaths and waved his hand, slowly pushing himself upright. His head still felt a bit fuzzy. He shook it again and finally felt clear.

"Frenzied Skeleton! You son of a... Huh?" Li Ziyu began to curse, looking up, but the Frenzied Skeleton was nowhere to be seen.

’Where is it? Where did it go?’

Li Ziyu whipped his head around, searching, and found the Frenzied Skeleton at the base of the opposite wall, shattered into a pile of bones. The creature had fired without bracing itself and had been sent flying by the recoil, crashing into the wall. It was in even worse shape than Li Ziyu was; its Soul Fire was still spinning dizzily.

"Serves you right! That’s what you get for being so impatient!" Watching it, Li Ziyu felt a satisfying sense of vindication and cursed fiercely.

The Frenzied Skeleton’s Soul Fire finally stopped spinning. Its bones reconnected, and it returned to its normal form, still tightly gripping the Jet Shooter-1.

It looked at Li Ziyu, then glanced down at the Jet Shooter-1 in its hand. Suddenly, it raised the gun and started hopping up and down on the spot, looking utterly ecstatic.

Li Ziyu read the message it sent him: "Awesome! So awesome! This thing is a blast!"

’What the actual fuck...’

Li Ziyu ground his teeth as he stared at the Frenzied Skeleton. ’What the hell is wrong with this thing? It doesn’t learn its lesson at all. It got thrown that far, and it’s still in the mood to hop around?’

’The Frenzy Rune really lives up to its name. It even makes an Undead go crazy.’

A lingering fear crept over Li Ziyu. ’Thank god I didn’t test the gun myself.’ Looking at what had happened to the Frenzied Skeleton, he figured if he had been the one to fire it, it wouldn’t have been his whole body that went flying—it would have been his shoulder and arm. The recoil on the Jet Shooter-1 was just too vicious!
