Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 294 - 160: Battle against the Minotaur 3

  • Next Chapter

The Tattooed Undead grew steadily stronger, putting immense pressure on the Demonized Minotaur. He was beginning to think about retreating, but now that he wanted to, the Tattooed Skeletons weren’t about to let him go. ’What a perfect whetstone!’ They would be thrilled to keep fighting like this forever. They gave this growth spurt a perfect ten.

The Demonized Minotaur was in a bind—he couldn’t retreat even if he wanted to. It was either kill the Undead in front of him, or be killed by them.

’Damn it! If I’d known there was such a troublesome foe among the Undead, I should have teamed up!’

Filled with regret, he had no choice but to summon his companions.

With a powerful swing of his Great Saber, he forced back the Frenzied Skeleton and the Power Skeleton. The Demonized Minotaur endured the Speed Skeleton’s attacks as he pulled out an alarm whistle and blew it with all his might.

The whistle was made from the bone of a Demonized Beast. Its sound was extremely shrill and could travel far in the underground tunnels.

He kept fighting the Tattooed Skeletons as he blew the whistle.

After four or five blasts, an answering call finally echoed from the tunnel. A squad of Demonized Creatures was rushing to provide support.

The reinforcements were a 10-person squad, also led by a Demonized Minotaur.

"Danita? What are you doing here? You’re the one who blew the whistle?" the leader of the reinforcements asked in surprise, seeing the other Demonized Minotaur who had just pushed back the Undead and retreated toward them.

"Hah... Beniel," Danita panted, exhausted from his long battle with the Tattooed Undead. "Be careful. These things aren’t normal."

"Beniel, this is the powerhouse you were talking about? Can’t even handle four Undead?" A Ratman from the ten-person squad sneered, glancing at the Tattooed Skeletons huddled together up ahead.

He was thoroughly unimpressed. Beniel had bragged to them more than once about how strong Danita was. The way Beniel told it, Danita was practically a deity, like a War God descended to the mortal realm—unstoppable, unrivaled, cutting down anyone who stood in his path. And now... here he was, held up by four Skeletons and even forced to blow his whistle for backup.

’Well, strictly speaking, Beniel wasn’t wrong. Undead aren’t people, after all.’

But that didn’t stop the Ratman from looking down on Danita.

Danita turned to look at the Ratman. Seeing a creature that wasn’t even as tall as his own leg, he snorted. "The weakest of these Undead could kill you in a heartbeat."

"Bullshit. You think I don’t know about Undead? I’ve killed plenty. Just watch. I’ll kill another one right now to show you." Provoked by Danita, the Ratman lost his cool. Gripping the Curved Sabers at the small of his back, he crouched down and shot forward, racing toward the Tattooed Undead.

"Don’t—"

"AARGH!"

Beniel knew Danita wasn’t one to lie. If he said the Undead weren’t simple, then they had to be dangerous. He tried to call out to the overconfident Ratman, but he was a step too late. The Ratman was fast, but the Undead he was facing was even faster!

He saw a white blur flash past the Ratman. The Ratman let out a piercing scream as the figure instantly doubled back, taking his head with it.

The headless corpse collapsed with a heavy thud. The Ratman died without ever managing to draw his Dual Swords.

The scene left the other Demonized Creatures stunned. The Ratman may have been foul-mouthed, arrogant, and thoroughly unlikeable, but they had to admit, he had the skills to back up his boasts. He was fast, and with his lightning-fast draw, he could use his momentum to easily slice a foe in half at the waist. It was a move that had never failed him.

Yet this very Ratman, who lived and died by his speed, had just been outmatched. He’d lost his life in a single encounter, without even managing to draw his swords.

They couldn’t just chalk it up to him underestimating his enemy. Ratmen were notoriously cunning; what they said and what they did were two entirely different things. Despite his dismissive words, the Ratman would have been exercising 100% caution in battle. His death could only mean one thing: the Undead he faced was just that strong!

The Speed Skeleton returned to the Constitution Skeleton’s side. He juggled the severed head in his hand for a moment before casually tossing it aside. In the fight against Danita, he’d been at a disadvantage—his speed and sword were utterly countered by the Minotaur’s stone armor, leaving him seething with frustration. He hadn’t expected the enemy to send him such a gift. Since they were so generous, he was more than happy to claim the kill.
