Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree

Chapter 68 - 50: Fierce Battle 8: Many Plants, Great Power

Chapter 68: Chapter 50: Fierce Battle 8: Many Plants, Great Power

An area of one square kilometer might not seem large, but it was completely filled with defensive structures, occupying every inch of open space. If not for the legion of Warriors in the center, there would have been a full million defensive plants.

But even with the centermost area occupied, there were still plenty of defensive plants left.

Lin Yu turned to Lin Chenxi. "Chenxi, pull back the vines. Let those skeletons get closer. I want to test something!"

The vines subsequently recoiled outside the Plant Defense Array, no longer actively attacking the White Bone Skeletons.

Without the vines blocking them, the White Bone Skeletons continued to surge toward the position.

WHOOSH.

Lin Yu took a deep breath to compose himself. This could be considered his first real battle against an enemy.

He had only been a spectator in previous fights. This time, it was finally his turn—or rather, his summoned plants’ turn—to take the stage.

As the horde of skeletons drew near, Lin Yu immediately directed the defensive plants at the rear to attack. After being hit by the Ice Shooters, their movement speed instantly slowed.

A dense barrage of peas followed. Although each pea didn’t have high attack power, their sheer numbers were overwhelming.

An endless swarm of Pea Bullets shot out in all directions, followed closely by the star-shaped bullets from the Star Fruits.

Each time a Star Fruit fired, it launched bullets in eight directions. In the current surrounded environment, it was like a fish in water—not a single star bullet was wasted, all of them hitting their targets.

Then there were the Guiding Needles from the Cat’s Tail Grass. Their high damage was actually a bit of a waste, as each needle killed a skeleton outright.

To avoid wasting firepower, Lin Yu directed the Cat’s Tail Grass to target the skeletons farther away, leaving the closer ones to the Pea Shooters and Star Fruits.

He also instructed them to only attack each skeleton once.

The endlessly advancing skeletons were endlessly annihilated. Soon, their scattered bones piled up in the distance, forming a circular mound that was then pulverized by Pea Bullets.

However, because these bone mounds wasted a good number of Pea Bullets, the skeletons’ front line managed to advance a little.

As the White Bone Skeletons died one after another, more bone mounds appeared, and the skeletons’ front line crept forward, slowly approaching the Steel Earth Spikes and the High Nuts.

Once their path was blocked by the High Nuts, the White Bone Skeletons swung their Bone Blades and began hacking away at them.

The durability of the High Nuts began to fall, steadily but slowly.

At that moment, the fairies who weren’t involved in creating the Protective Shield sprang into action. They possessed the injured High Nuts, granting them greater durability and higher defense, while also slowly regenerating their health.

At the same time, they also cast a skill: Lifebloom, which healed the health of surrounding High Nuts over a large area.

Because space was limited, the number of attacks each High Nut could face was finite. Coupled with the fairies’ healing skills, the High Nuts’ declining health bars began to rise again.

Seeing that the situation was under control, Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief. "Chenxi, looks like I can hold this place on my own!"

"You go help Phantom. Kill that Skeleton King, and these skeletons will most likely die off on their own. Even if they don’t, once you’ve dealt with the Skeleton King, you can clean up these small fry without any worries."

"As you command!"

Seeing that the Plant Defense Array projected by Lin Yu had successfully held off the Skeleton Sea’s assault, Lin Chenxi confidently agreed.

Then, she flew atop the vines, directing them to move toward the place where Phantom and the Skeleton King were fighting.

After observing the battle from the sidelines for a while, she realized that while Phantom’s attack power was high enough, his speed wasn’t overwhelmingly superior. This allowed the Skeleton King to use his masterful combat skills to frequently parry Phantom’s attacks.

Furthermore, the Skeleton King’s defense was incredibly high. Some of Phantom’s attacks sacrificed power for speed, and even when they landed, they failed to break through his defense.

Meanwhile, the Wind Shelter on Phantom’s body increased his margin for error. Even if the Skeleton King unexpectedly used a skill to accelerate and attack him, the wind would deflect the blows, allowing Phantom to dodge.

As a result, Phantom also remained completely unscathed.

Lin Chenxi couldn’t help but shake her head. ’The two are perfectly countering each other. Though they’re trading blows back and forth, neither has taken any damage. It’s a perfect illustration of the saying, "All the flash of a tiger, but the damage of a wet noodle!"’

To end the fight quickly, Lin Chenxi prepared to restrain the Skeleton King to give Phantom an opening to break his defense. She stealthily commanded the vines to burrow underground, slip beneath the combatants, and then spread out.

BANG!

CLANK! CLANK!

The Skeleton King and Phantom clashed again in a rapid series of strikes. Every one of Phantom’s moves was fast and ruthless, but the Skeleton King, wielding his Two-Handed Greatsword, moved with practiced ease, perfectly parrying each and every blow.

SWOOSH!

Suddenly, a vine shot out from the ground and swiftly wrapped around the Skeleton King’s leg.

The Skeleton King paid it no mind. With a light swing of his greatsword, he forced Phantom back and sliced through the vine on his leg in the same motion.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Several more vines burst from the ground in quick succession. The Skeleton King paused his greatsword for a moment before swinging at the vines again. This time, however, he failed to sever them all; his feet and waist were bound.

Just as he was about to cut these new vines, even more shot out from underground, tying up his hands and feet completely.

Phantom reacted instantly, rushing forward while the Skeleton King was immobilized. His claws became a blur, unleashing a torrent of attacks on the helpless king.

In the blink of an eye, the Skeleton King’s armor was completely shattered, falling to the ground in pieces of broken metal.

With his armor gone, the Skeleton King’s Bone Armor was revealed. It was a terrifying sight, covered in sharp protrusions like a series of blades that glinted with a dazzling light.

CLANG! CLANG!

Phantom’s claws struck these protrusions, creating a loud, metallic ringing.

Finding the protrusions indestructible, Phantom immediately changed targets. He aimed for the Skeleton King’s neck, intending to snap it. Decapitation was a fatal blow to any skeleton.

The Skeleton King tilted his neck, dodging Phantom’s attack. At the same time, the protrusions on his body began to glow.

Sensing danger, Phantom immediately dodged away. The next moment, blades of light shot out from the Skeleton King’s body, instantly severing the vines that bound him.

The skeleton let out a laugh, about to taunt his foes, when dozens more vines erupted from the ground.

’Fuck!’

The Skeleton King hastily dodged while swinging his sword to cut the vines. But unfortunately, the vines shooting from the ground seemed endless. He hadn’t been dodging for long before he was once again tied up tight.

Before Phantom could rush in to attack, the Skeleton King unleashed the blades of light from his Bone Armor and broke free.

The vines lacked the attack power to damage the Skeleton King’s defenses, but they were incredibly tough. They couldn’t be torn apart by hand and could only be severed with a weapon or the blades of light.

Therefore, while the vines couldn’t harm the Skeleton King, they were more than enough to restrain him.

To prevent Phantom from taking the opportunity to decapitate him while he was trapped, the Skeleton King was forced to repeatedly use the blades on his Bone Armor to unleash the beams of light.

But alas, no matter how many times he broke free or where he ran, vines would shoot out from the ground to bind him once more.
