Chapter 443 - 33: The Second Meeting with the Goddess

Chapter 443: Chapter 33: The Second Meeting with the Goddess

One day in June, Lin Yu’s avatar traveled to Yun Qihao’s territory and once again met with the Goddess of Wisdom and War in his Prayer Room.

"Lin Yu, you’ve done well! I have already received the faith of the Titan Clan People."

The moment they met, the Goddess lavished Lin Yu with praise, extremely pleased that he had helped her spread her faith.

"Goddess, since you think I’ve done a good job, you’ve got to give me something good for a reward!"

Lin Yu shamelessly asked the Goddess for a reward.

"Of course. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied with my reward." The Goddess was in high spirits and wasn’t bothered by Lin Yu’s brazen request.

An ornate black box materialized before Lin Yu in a flash of golden light.

Lin Yu took the box, but when he tried to use the system, he couldn’t see any information; it was all question marks.

"What is this?" Lin Yu asked curiously.

"This is called an Energy Storage Box. It’s a spoil of war I seized long ago while fighting enemies from outside our realm. I later modified it into its current form."

"Because it is not a product of the Main Cosmos, you cannot see its information."

"It has only one function, which is to store energy. Its storage capacity is massive!" the Goddess explained.

"What use is it to me?" Lin Yu didn’t understand why the Goddess would give this to him. ’I don’t need to store huge amounts of energy.’

"Oh, its uses are great."

"These past few days, because you helped me spread my faith, a large number of my Divine Halls have been established in the Titan Race’s territory."

"We have already located your continent and are beginning preparations to tow it."

"However, the size of the continent is somewhat larger than we expected."

"Mainly, the growth rate of your territory has somewhat exceeded our projections."

"It’s still manageable for now, within our acceptable range."

"But, even if we start towing now, to pull your continent into the Main Cosmos, it will still take at least half a year based on the distance."

"And your territory will surely continue to grow, won’t it? To ensure all the lords can be towed into the Main Cosmos unharmed, we might have to intervene and... sever a portion of your territory."

"What? You can’t be serious! So I’m at fault for having a large territory?" Lin Yu was stunned, never imagining that a large territory could have such a drawback.

"That’s right. The manpower and resources for the towing operation were allocated based on the continent’s size when we began this phase."

"If your territory is too large, the resources we’ve allocated won’t keep up. We would then have to subsidize the difference with our own."

"And, well... you understand. We’re certainly not willing to cover that cost."

The Goddess was surprisingly gracious. She didn’t get annoyed at Lin Yu’s protest and instead explained patiently.

With that explanation, Lin Yu understood.

’To put it simply,’ he thought, ’these gods are doing this towing job to make a profit.’

’But because my territory is too large, not only will they fail to make a profit, they’ll actually have to pay out of their own pockets to finish the job. Of course they’d be against that.’

’So, to get the job done, they’re just going to cut my territory down to size.’

But understanding the logic didn’t make him any happier. The smile vanished completely from his face.

Seeing his reaction, a smile spread across the Goddess’s face.

’Kids these days have such a temper,’ she thought to herself.

"If you don’t want your territory to be severed, then take this Energy Storage Box and place it next to your territory’s core."

"This way, the energy your territory’s core absorbs each day will be stored in this box, and your territory will stop growing."

The Goddess’s words made Lin Yu’s eyes light up, but then he looked at the Energy Storage Box in his hand, and a new doubt surfaced in his mind.

"But, this box is so small. Can it hold it all?"

’The World Tree absorbs a huge amount of energy every day,’ Lin Yu thought. ’My own total energy can only create about four square meters of land per day.’

’The World Tree creates 24,591.15 square kilometers a day. That’s an area over six billion times what I can make, which must require far, far more energy than my own entire supply.’

’This Energy Storage Box is only the size of my palm. How could it possibly hold that much energy?’

"Heh, I know what you’re worried about."

"I’ve observed your territory for a while. Based on the area your territory grows by each day, its energy absorption rate is indeed very fast."

"I’ve already run the calculations. This Energy Storage Box can handle the energy your territory absorbs. Don’t underestimate it. The amount of energy it can hold is far beyond your imagination."

Hearing the Goddess’s confident assurances, Lin Yu skeptically held the Energy Storage Box, turning it over and over in his hands.

"Don’t tell me this Energy Storage Box contains some kind of pocket dimension?"

"Something like that. You can think of it that way."

"But wait, that doesn’t add up. If this Energy Storage Box contains a space to store energy, wouldn’t you still have to expend extra resources to tow it along with the continent?"

"Wouldn’t that be a completely pointless exercise?"

The Goddess’s smile faltered. She hadn’t expected Lin Yu to be so astute, or to know anything about spatial principles.

After a brief pause, she decided to tell him the truth, lest this outstanding junior harbor any resentment toward her.

"Since you’ve figured that out, I’ll be honest with you."

"This Energy Storage Box is just a spatial portal. It connects to an Energy Space within the Main Cosmos, so it won’t affect our towing operation."

Lin Yu nodded, believing the Goddess’s explanation, and then asked, "Then how do I get this energy back out?"

"You still want this energy? Isn’t your territory big enough already?"

"Who would complain about their territory being too big?" Lin Yu replied with a smile.
