Chapter 341: Chapter 17: Conflict

Meanwhile, inside Hass Manor.

First thing in the morning, Marcus received bad news from his butler, Kong Yixiu.

"Spatial disturbances around the planet? All airports and Teleportation Arrays have suspended services for entering and leaving the planet?"

"Yes, Young Master. The airports and Teleportation Arrays are under extremely strict control now. Anyone trying to leave must register and is then taken to designated hotels. The hotels are luxurious, but completely sealed off. If not for the Hass Clan’s connections, none of the people who went there would have been able to get a message out."

Marcus sensed that something was wrong with this measure.

’I remember Cuiwei Star is located in a stable space zone, isn’t it?’

’Logically, the space around Cuiwei Star should be stable. There wouldn’t be spatial disturbances unless a spatial disaster occurred.’

’But that’s impossible. If a spatial disaster had happened, wouldn’t someone have notified me?’

’This kind of measure... Something’s wrong! Very wrong!’

The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he became. He immediately ordered Kong Yixiu, "Notify everyone in the manor that Cuiwei Star is about to face a planet-wide danger. Tell everyone to find their own shelter immediately. I assume they all have safe houses prepared."

(Most members of the Hass Clan had used the symbiotes, but a portion of them, wary of the new technology, had not. Furthermore, to maintain a better cover, most of the symbiotes in the manor had not seized control of their hosts, only subtly interfering with them.)

"Have the ’Eye of the Celestial God’ in Black Salt City dump all the unreleased symbiotes on the spot."

"Then, have everyone mobilize and break the blockade. Get them out of Black Salt City."

"Also, which intersection’s blockade is the weakest?"

Kong Yixiu checked the compiled intelligence and said, "The GS8 Automated Expressway, F4 intersection. There are only two Extraordinary Beings there at the moment. Intel says they are lords from your graduating class, Young Master, named Li Hua and Lin Yu."

"Oh? It’s them! Li Hua should already be an Extraordinary Being. As for Lin Yu... his troops are strong, but even if he’s become an Extraordinary Being himself, he shouldn’t be that powerful."

"But it doesn’t matter even if they are. They’re second-rank at most."

"Send a second-rank Extraordinary Squad of five over there. Have them assist the ’Eye of the Celestial God’ in breaking through the blockade."

-----------------

Outside Black Salt City, at the GS8-F4 intersection.

Lin Yu, Li Hua, and Li Xintong were in a treehouse, bored, watching the residents of Black Salt City gathered at the forest’s edge. Under the direction of two legion staff members, the crowd waiting for the lockdown to end was growing, but everything remained orderly. No major incidents had occurred.

"This job is pretty easy, you know. Not nearly as complicated as you made it out to be. You even went and got a license to kill."

"You got my hopes up for nothing. I was so excited and hyped at first, but in the end, it’s just been ordinary residents."

Li Hua’s words were filled with an eager, restless energy.

"What’s up? You really want to use that license to kill of yours?"

"Hey! Weren’t you the one who told me about the Eye Demons’ traits? How they don’t care about their hosts’ lives, how they’re treacherous and cunning. I thought since they don’t care about their hosts’ lives, they might throw some lives away to charge us. Or at the very least, send some cannon fodder to test the waters! But in the end... this is it?!"

"This isn’t the only intersection out of Black Salt City. I’ve already set up my formation. When they saw it, they obviously decided to go a different way."

Lin Yu’s words, instead of reassuring Li Hua, only made him more frustrated. Didn’t this just mean he really wouldn’t get a chance to stretch his muscles?

It was like wearing fine silks in the dead of night—what was the point of having all this power if he couldn’t show it off? How could he justify giving up so many opportunities during the second stage just to focus on his training?!

"By the way, I just got off the phone with Captain Liu. He said the experiment results should be out today. He told us not to let any of the parasitized people from Black Salt City escape. He gave us a quota of 100 for ’accidental’ deaths."

"I also asked about property damage. Captain Liu said we can use our own discretion. Any normal damage will be considered combat-related losses, and the legion will cover it."

"So, you can go destroy the highway now. I’m sure ’accidentally’ wrecking a few sections of road counts as normal damage, right?"

Li Hua lazily drew his precious sword. "Got it. I’ll go get a little exercise, loosen up my joints."

With that, he stepped onto his sword and glided off into the distance.

(Due to his insufficient level, Li Hua hadn’t completely mastered Sword Flight yet, but he could still glide through the sky on his sword.)

The Black Salt City residents by the forest were initially curious about Li Hua flying off, but then he flew to the highway and unleashed a powerful slash.

The immense force caved in the road, tearing a massive gash in the highway.

But Li Hua didn’t stop there. He followed the road, and with a series of deafening CRACKS, he unleashed over ten more slashes, reducing a nearly hundred-meter section of highway to rubble.

And he still wasn’t finished. He tossed his sword into the air, leaped up to land on it, and continued gliding further down the road. Once he landed, he repeated the same moves, turning another section of the highway to ruins.

After repeating this several times and wrecking a few more sections of the highway, Li Hua finally flew back into the forest.

The Black Salt City residents by the forest burst into a panicked discussion, thoroughly terrified.

"Why are they doing this? Putting up a roadblock to stop traffic is one thing, but why destroy the highway? Are they insane?"

"Extraordinary Beings really are unreasonable. I’m going back to the city. If I stay here, I’m afraid I’ll get killed by them going crazy before I even escape the danger in the city."
