Chapter 325: Chapter 11: The Person Behind the Scenes (3)

...

In the base’s entrance passage, a group of Lizard-men, led by Vincent, had taken up formation.

Before long, amidst the sound of explosions, human soldiers arrived before them.

Seeing the swords and blades in the hands of the battle-ready Lizard-men, then looking down at the Spiritual Energy Guns in their own, the soldiers couldn’t help but laugh.

Vincent knew what they were laughing at, but there was nothing to be done. Operating an illegal mine on a Human Race planet would, at worst, lead to a fine, confiscation of a few shipments’ profits, and deportation if they were caught. But if you added smuggling military arms and illegally possessing controlled weapons to the charges, the crime was far more severe. Whether they could even get off Cuiwei Star would be a serious question.

Besides, in the past, it was always Opal Hass’s people who handled conflicts. The Lizard-men only needed to ensure the base ran smoothly.

But now, the security had turned on them, and they had no choice but to rely on their natural toughness to resist.

The soldiers didn’t laugh for long. Their helmets were equipped with cameras recording the entire battle. They couldn’t afford to act too arrogant; demonstrating their combat effectiveness was their primary mission this time.

After they stopped laughing, the soldiers aimed at the Lizard-men and opened fire. The Lizard-men didn’t try to take the hits head-on; they scattered instantly, each dodging the incoming High-Energy Beams.

They were very familiar with these soldiers. They knew the soldiers were fairly accurate against stationary targets, but their ability to track moving targets couldn’t compare to that of the Lizard-men. As long as they moved quickly, it would be difficult for the soldiers to hit them.

However, the soldiers had been parasitized by the Eye Demons that Opal Hass had brought back. Their abilities had been greatly enhanced; they were no longer the same opponents as before.

Faced with the Lizard-men who were rapidly moving, dodging the beams, and constantly closing in, the soldiers weren’t the least bit flustered. The initial volley was just a test. Now, they could get a little more serious.

The soldiers began to move backward quickly. At the same time, they no longer aimed their Spiritual Energy Guns at the Lizard-men, but at the empty ground in front of them.

The Lizard-men maintained their rhythm of movement, but strangely, it was as if they were walking right into the line of fire. One by one, the Lizard-men actively moved into the path of beams that should have hit empty ground.

Instantly, Lizard-men were knocked down. Where their hard scales were hit, they carbonized and flaked off, revealing the raw flesh underneath. The pained screams of the Lizard-men rose and fell in waves.

The soldiers didn’t stop. They continued to raise their guns and shoot the wounded Lizard-men on the ground.

Several Lizard-men were hit in the head repeatedly and immediately fell silent.

"Bastards, do you have any idea what you’re doing?" Vincent couldn’t help but roar. "Your Young Master has a stake in this place! A portion of all the income goes to his family! These are your colleagues! Wounding them is one thing, but why are you trying to wipe them all out?"

A soldier who looked like a squad leader spoke up, "I know you. The Lizard-man taken in by the Young Master."

"You got one thing wrong. The Young Master doesn’t just have a stake in this base—this base *is* the Young Master’s. Without him, could you have built it? If the Young Master hadn’t taken pity on you, you think you’d still be getting a portion of its income? Did you really start to think this base was yours? How naive!"

"I don’t know what happened between you and the Young Master, but since he sent us here to teach you a lesson, it’s definitely not going to be a simple punishment!"

With that said, the soldiers raised their guns and resumed firing.

"Bastards!"
