Chapter 322: Chapter 10: It Really Was You

’However, if I can trade some insignificant information for more resources, that would be for the best.’

"Sir, those two have started talking."

Just then, a Lizard-man came to report.

"Oh?" Vincent immediately dropped his haggling with Lin Yu and went to see the two trouble-making Lizard-men.

"Speak. Why did you sabotage the Energy Core?"

"Sir, we don’t know! We only remember seeing a human before, and then we lost a period of our memory."

"Today, we heard a strange sound, and then we blacked out. When we came to, we had been captured and severely tortured, and were told we had sabotaged the Energy Core."

"But we really don’t remember anything!"

Lizard-man A and Lizard-man B repeatedly proclaimed their innocence.

"You don’t remember anything? How strange. You just happen to not remember sabotaging the Energy Core?"

Vincent didn’t believe the two Lizard-men. He pointed at Lin Yu and the others, who had followed him, and asked,

"Do you know these people?"

"Sir, why are there humans in the base?"

"We don’t know them!"

The expressions of Lizard-man A and Lizard-man B were wooden, showing no sign that they recognized Lin Yu and his group.

Seeing no obvious signs of deception, Vincent waved his hand and had the two Lizard-men taken away to a confinement chamber.

’Could it really be him? He threatened to teach me a lesson, and the next thing I know, my Energy Core is blown up?’

Vincent couldn’t figure it out and decided to probe a little.

He had someone take Lin Yu’s group of three to the reception hall, while he himself returned to his office.

The office had already been tidied up, with no trace of fire damage left.

Satisfied, Vincent sat down in his chair and made a call.

A young voice came from the other end of the line. "Vincent, have you thought it through?"

"Opal, why did you lie to me? That human who broke in clearly isn’t a wanted criminal!"

"Oh? So what if I lied to you? I’m doing this for your own good. You just need to do as you’ve always done: capture anyone who breaks into your base and send them to me."

"Bastard, this is different! The ones before were just ordinary civilians. The one in my base now is an Extraordinary-rank lord."

"So, why do you care so much? As long as you don’t know, there’s no problem, is there?"

"You... Opal, I feel like you’ve changed."

"Hahaha! Of course I’m different. I’ve now advanced to a third-stage lord, obtained a Cultivation Manual, and I even have the Governor’s Mansion’s resource backing. And you, my friend, are still just a thief who secretly mines and smuggles Spirit Crystals."

"Opal, don’t you forget—without me, would your family have ever gotten to where it is today?"

"And don’t you forget that without me, you’d still be a vagrant Lizard-man commoner. Even if you stumbled upon some rare technology, you wouldn’t have been able to use it. By the way, did you receive the gift I sent? Are you satisfied with it?"

"Bastard! It really was you!"

Vincent furiously slammed the phone down.

On the other end, Opal Hass stared at the phone. Enraged that someone had hung up on him, he smashed it on the ground. He was always the one to hang up on others. Since when did a Lizard-man dare hang up on him?

"Tell Richie to bring the gift back. I sent him a present as an apology for my earlier tone, and he receives it only to curse me out?"

’Damn it, he actually doesn’t like beautiful female Lizard-men? Does he like males?’

Opal shuddered, then ordered, "Notify Conley. Have him take the newly formed Extraordinary Team to the Black Salt Mine. Since Vincent is unwilling to cooperate, we’ll just take it by force. Hmph! He chose the hard way. Besides, this will be a good chance to show the family the power of the Extraordinary Team we built with the symbiotes."

"Sir, the Black Salt Mine is a major source of income for the family."

"Hahaha, that was in the past. Not anymore!"

"Isn’t that right, Marcus!"

Opal Hass spoke to his arm. A large eye on the back of his left hand opened and blinked.
