Chapter 981 - 298: Execution_3

"We have the same right."

Relying on their identity as Law Enforcers, they easily met the leader of the gathering place, a slightly plump, bald middle-aged man named Xia Hong.

Upon seeing Chen Tiannan and the others, he also showed a cautious expression, feeling considerable psychological pressure facing the powerful Extraordinary.

"I don’t know what business the Law Enforcers have that brought you specifically to our gathering place," Xia Hong said humbly, his eyes bloodshot, clearly quite exhausted during this period.

In the room, aside from the Law Enforcement Team, only he was present. It seemed they were going to convey a very secret matter, as Divine Creatures have already caused widespread panic, and further incidents are possible.

Ximen Long sized him up and spoke straightforwardly: "I’m Ximen Long, captain of Team Seven of the Law Enforcement Team. Your gathering place has been contaminated; you’ve been polluted by that Divine Creature. We are here to address this issue."

Xia Hong showed a surprised expression, the fact that they were polluted was unknown to him. He appeared thoughtful and then said, "We are quite far from that Divine Creature, can we still be polluted? There seems to be no signs of contamination here."

Though puzzled, he did not doubt Ximen Long’s words; the other party had no reason to deceive him.

Ximen Long shook his head, speaking in a certain tone: "You have been polluted, which is why we came here. However, the contamination range is quite extensive and difficult to detect."

This was a narrative designed to make the leader of the gathering place accept the explanation willingly and cooperate with their actions. Otherwise, the operation would become difficult due to the numerous Phantoms; if they escaped everywhere, it would be hard to recapture them one by one.

Xia Hong fell into a brief silence, sighed, and his gaze became resolute. He asked Ximen Long, "Since this is the case, how should I cooperate?"

Ximen Long nodded, satisfied with Xia Hong’s attitude, and patted his shoulder, saying: "We need to execute the heavily polluted individuals to prevent further contamination spread."

"Execute?"

Xia Hong was shocked; he had heard rumors that when District Twelve was destroyed, some gathering places in the vicinity were affected by the contamination, resulting in many Extraordinary losing control. Reportedly, one gathering place was massacred, leaving no survivors.

Of course, using such methods, they effectively curtailed further contamination spread, confining it within District Twelve.

Ximen Long reiterated indifferently: "Yes, that’s exactly what execution means, and we hope you will cooperate. Otherwise, if the contamination worsens, it won’t just be about executing a portion of people."

"Given the circumstances, this is the maximum we can do."

Xia Hong took a deep breath and nodded, saying: "I understand, I’ll make arrangements immediately. But who exactly are the ones that need to be executed?"

Chen Tiannan finally interjected, saying: "Gather everyone together, we will naturally discern, then record the names for unified execution."

"As for before that, don’t leak any information. Causing panic would be bad; if the contaminated individuals escape, it would lead to more severe consequences."

Upon hearing this, Xia Hong adopted a serious expression and nodded, saying: "I understand."

In such a harsh environment, every gathering place is akin to a military base, with high efficiency in execution.

The alarm sounded.

Throughout the gathering place, the piercing bell was audible everywhere. Soon, almost everyone was gathered in the central square, quietly discussing in confusion about what had transpired and why they were all called together.

Chen Tiannan looked out and was startled to see nearly half the people in the gathering place were Phantoms, individuals who essentially did not exist, silently blending in, without the original people noticing anything amiss.

This wasn’t caused by pollution; indeed, there was no contamination in the gathering place.
