Chapter 962 - 290: Raging Tide

Perhaps it was curiosity, perhaps it was the same hunger for Power, perhaps he was simply affected by this heart—Su Changxing still tried to find a way to get it into his hands. There was an element of luck involved, yet it ultimately depended on the strength of his Ability.

As a Tier Eight Extraordinary Creature, the Abilities he wielded were absolutely, exceedingly over-tuned. Speaking purely of the intensity of his Abilities, even some Tier Seven Extraordinarys were likely far inferior to him.

It was precisely by relying on this Ability that he could perceive the positions of all Extraordinarys, and secretly take the heart away before the others noticed.

What is the essence of Power?

It might be the mastery of rules—but that is only the surface. In truth, it is the delineation between Truth and illusion.

Before Su Changxing entered the narrow path of death, he had already clearly sensed such a thing: every world has countless faces, countless forms. He could see so many of these forms, yet could not distinguish which was Truth, which was illusion—or rather, each was a face of Truth, and each was a face of illusion.

Even a Saint as powerful as Wanfang, in essence, was merely communicating with one illusory face and fusing with it.

From this perspective, the Power of Extraordinarys is actually built upon a hollow system, nowhere near as solid as imagined.

Yet such Power has nonetheless forged the great Dao of the world, all-encompassing; any thing can be counted as Extraordinary, and any thing can be explained through the Extraordinary—like petals of fragrance, ceaselessly passed along, until at some moment they bloom across every branch and leaf.

The Speed at which blood dripped onto the heart grew faster and faster, gradually becoming a thin red line that fell into the glass bottle, endlessly swirling as it rose and covered the Black Crystal. The two seemed to undergo some kind of chemical reaction, emanating a blue radiance, condensing into shapes like hinges that shuttled back and forth between the blood and the crystal.

In that instant.

Even with his shallow experience, weak Perception, and low Extraordinary level, he immediately understood what was sealed inside the Black Crystal.

It was Power left behind by a Divine Spirit—not ordinary Power, but a Divine Spirit’s legacy, a kind of concretized Ability!

Why would such a thing exist inside the Doomsday Game? Was this Power stolen from Divine Spirits, then sold in this form to Extraordinarys below?

Too absurd.

The Power of Divine Spirits was being sold like pork; no matter how many Points were offered, they were negligible to it in itself.

No wonder those Extraordinarys were so frenzied. And they ought to be. If Su Changxing were in their position, he might have made the same choice.

All sorts of chaotic thoughts flooded Su Changxing’s mind—tens of thousands of impulses, blurring his consciousness. His Perception of things around him became numb; in his eyes there was only the blue light ceaselessly shuttling and spinning.

It passed through distant time and space, once again strengthening the connection between his main body and his Clone; all stray thoughts vanished at once, tied to a single thread.

He suddenly snapped awake, realizing that he had just been influenced, nearly slipping into a dreadful state.

He was not a normal Zombie, but a Zombie that still possessed human consciousness. Thus his Spirit could also be twisted—and once his Spirit was twisted, what would happen afterward was unknown.

Fortunately he had promptly reinforced the connection between his main body and his Clone, correcting that distortion and restoring everything to its former state.

At last.

The blood completely filled the glass bottle. The blue radiance gradually solidified, becoming like a limpid liquid, forming a DNA chain that threaded through the glass bottle and extended upward along his arm, like a warm arm brushing across him.

What is a Divine Spirit?

It is the complete dominion over a certain Illusory Surface, the extremity of rules.

From this thread of Power he glimpsed certain truths—truths he previously could not see. And this thread of Power, following the connection, even had a portion transmitted back to his main body.

The nine High-dimensional spaces were not artificially divided; there have always been nine—from the past to the present to the future, there are nine!

These are equivalent to nine vast Illusory Surfaces, condensed into the image of the real dimension and displayed; the rules within them differ from those of the True world.

Thus.

The nine High-dimensional spaces likely correspond to nine different, powerful Gods.

Because they exist, the nine High-dimensional spaces exist; and because the nine High-dimensional spaces exist, they exist.

Each is prior to the other, each is the cause of the other—they must coexist.

What left Su Changxing more perplexed was: what is the True world, or rather, what counts as the True surface?

Perhaps he had seen it, perhaps he had never seen it at all.

A subtle, insidious change began to appear within the Undead Tide, spreading and diffusing without end.

Pairs of eyes emitting blue radiance opened within the Undead Tide. They seemed like a single whole, yet were composed of one independent Zombie after another.

It could be called the Undead Tide.

[Mad Tide V1 (Divinity): The Undead Tide under your control will undergo inconceivable changes. Every Zombie will be strengthened, and will gain a certain Extraordinary Resistance.

Truth: Every Zombie within the Undead Tide will obtain Extraordinary Resistance, reducing the degree to which they are affected by Extraordinary Power.

Thick-skinned V1: Every Zombie in the Undead Tide gains stronger Life Force; Resistance increases by 20%, Anti-Puncture Ability increases by 20%, Impact Resistance increases by 20%.

Note: This Ability can continuously Grow.]

"In a certain sense, I should now count as half a Divine Creature, shouldn’t I?"

Su Changxing clearly felt the change in himself. The shackles that restrained his Power seemed to have vanished; the glass bottle of Power had grown more than tenfold.

What concerned him more was this thing called "Extraordinary Resistance."

He had never seen this kind of Resistance before. There was disease Resistance, Magic Resistance, curse Resistance, but he had never heard of Extraordinary Resistance.

Extraordinary Resistance seemed more like the sum of all Resistances; so long as it involved Extraordinary Power, it could be opposed. It was an utterly unreasonable kind of Power—only Divine Spirits could possess such Power, its level above all!

The influence of Mad Tide quickly spread through the entire Undead Tide. Every Zombie within the Tide underwent change; compared to other ordinary Zombies, one could easily match two, perhaps even three.

More importantly, Extraordinary Resistance gave them a greater advantage when fighting Extraordinarys or Extraordinary Creatures. If Su Changxing had possessed the Power of Mad Tide earlier, the Tentacle Monster’s attempt to devour the Undead Tide would have slowed, because the Speed of Assimilation would have decreased.

This transformation was still ongoing, constantly affecting every Zombie within the Undead Tide.

Su Changxing lowered his head again. The Black Crystal and blood inside the glass bottle had vanished, leaving only black residue piled at the bottom of the bottle.

The blood-red heart was still beating, still dripping fresh blood, though its color was paler than before and its pulse had grown weaker.

"Can’t let it go to waste."

Holding to the principle of thrift, Su Changxing poured the black residue from the glass bottle onto the ground, then took another Black Crystal from his backpack and put it inside, repeating the prior operation and collecting the dripping blood.

Having endured one Divine Spirit legacy, his resistance to the heart’s spiritual influence had grown considerably; this time, no such hallucinations appeared.

The Speed of the dripping blood grew slower and slower; the heart’s beating also became more and more sluggish, gradually losing its vitality.

Until the last drop of blood filled the glass bottle, the heart completely lost its Life Force, turning a pale color, rapidly hardening, then cracking like stone and falling to the ground, shattering to dust.

The blue radiance once again condensed into a liquid form, spreading upward along Su Changxing’s arm.

This time, the entire process was faster—likely because his capacity for acceptance had greatly increased.

Above the Undead Tide, as if an invisible black shadow opened eyes suffused with blue sheen, then let out a roar that carried far, drawing more and more Zombies to converge here of their own accord, as though they had found their homecoming.
