Chapter 3098: Easy To Talk To

Nasir paused, realizing Fang Heng was probably still cultivating, and continued, "Actually, I didn’t come for anything important. I heard you made a breakthrough, so I rushed over to take a look. Seems I interrupted you."

"Not at all," Fang Heng waved his hand and invited Nasir into the study. "It’s just right, there are also some things I wanted to ask you."

"No need to be so polite. It’s not about asking—let’s just discuss and learn together."

"Have you heard of the Black Fog Game?"

"I’ve heard some rumors. They say the Black Fog Game is a special power, and supposedly one can gain strength from it. But personally, I’ve never seen it."

Nasir frowned slightly when Fang Heng suddenly brought up the Black Fog Game. He suddenly thought of something and looked at Fang Heng. "I listened that pan-human races are easily influenced by the Black Fog. Are you one of them?"

"Yes. My galaxy encountered a Black Fog outbreak. I came to the Seven Realms Martial Capital this time to learn more about the Black Fog and to avoid bigger trouble in the future."

"I see... Brother, don’t be too nervous. At least from what I know, the Black Fog isn’t necessarily dangerous."

Nasir thought for a moment and added, "The areas where the Black Fog spreads are only a small portion of the universe. Very few truly understand it. I heard the dependents are very wary of it. The detection devices installed in the city were placed under their insistence. I remember that our Alchemy Society helped during the installation. I’ll ask around at the Society and see if I can help you out."

"Thank you."

Fang Heng reminded, "Nasir, there’s some conflict between the dependents and us humans. It’s best not to mention me, to avoid unnecessary trouble."

"I’ve already heard the rumors. The dependents have always been hostile toward the pan-human races. But our Alchemy Society isn’t afraid of them. You’re also a Noel Clan martial artist, and the Noel Clan has a long history. We’re not afraid of the dependents either. Still, you’re right—being cautious is wise. I’ll keep that in mind."

Nasir looked at Fang Heng and had the thought of drawing him in. He smiled and said, "Brother Fang Heng, would you help me with something?"

"If I can be of help, I certainly will."

"We’re all Noel Clan martial artists. You may have heard some things. Lately, the outside situation has been unstable, and many Noel Clan fighters have withdrawn. My team has lost several people, and we haven’t found suitable replacements. I heard you’re strong—want to give it a try?"

"Sure."

...

Two days later, Nasir and Fang Heng entered a war prep room on the eighth floor of the Noel Clan company headquarters.

"Everyone, this is the newcomer I recommended—Fang Heng." Nasir cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention, and patted Fang Heng on the shoulder. "You should have heard of him, right?"

Many people looked at Fang Heng and nodded in greeting.

"Where’s the elder?"

"He went out to find external reinforcements. He should be back this afternoon."

"Alright."

Nasir led Fang Heng to a curvaceous female martial artist and introduced her, "Fang Heng, this is Henia. She’s from the Sea Race. The Sea Race has strong water-elemental abilities—almost all of them are natural scholars of elemental science. Henia is also a member of the Alchemy Society and one of the core members of our team."

The Sea Race closely resembled humans in appearance. Henia’s deep blue hair was thick like dreadlocks, floating midair as if condensed from deep ocean water. Her body surface seemed covered in a flowing layer of liquid.

Henia’s eyes glimmered blue-green. She nodded to Fang Heng, "Hello, Fang Heng."

"Hello." Fang Heng cupped his fists in greeting.

"Henia was once recruited by the dependents and participated in some of their Black Fog defense setups. She has some understanding of the Black Fog."

"That was a long time ago. I don’t like talking about the dependents, Nasir." Henia calmly refused, then turned to Fang Heng and asked, "Are you very interested in the Black Fog?"

"My world encountered the Black Fog. I want to learn more about it."

"I’m afraid you’ve asked the wrong person. I don’t know much about it either. I did help set up some Black Fog detection prisms back then. With the help of magic arrays, the detection range and accuracy of the prisms could be significantly enhanced."

"The detection prisms can only serve for detection. Once the Black Fog concentration reaches a certain level, the prisms trigger an alert, and the dependents respond immediately."

Henia thought for a moment, then added, "I get the feeling the dependents fear the Black Fog. Unless it’s a special situation, they avoid approaching it directly. But many people outside the dependents have faced the Black Fog and were never truly affected."

Fang Heng asked, "Do you know how to completely eliminate the Black Fog?"

"The Black Fog dissipates on its own over time," Henia calmly explained. "We just need to destroy its source."

Fang Heng sighed inwardly—troublesome.

According to Henia’s explanation, he was the source of the Black Fog.

And he couldn’t exactly destroy himself.

"If your world has encountered the Black Fog, perhaps you can look into spatial science and find a way to expel it," said a middle-aged man who had walked over.

Nasir looked at him and smiled. "This is Noding, also from the Noel Clan, and one of the key members of our team."

"Hey, I’m not that great. Nice to meet you, Fang Heng." Noding continued the earlier discussion, "We can create a bidirectional space passage. By using the difference in aura concentration, we can guide the Black Fog outward."

Henia shook her head and said flatly, "That only treats the symptoms, not the root."

But Fang Heng’s eyes lit up slightly.

That might work!

Just like back when he was with the Necromancer Association.

He could set up magic arrays at both ends. Once both ends of the passage were activated, the Black Fog would automatically flow from the high-concentration side to the low-concentration side—straight out of the basement!

Whether it treated the root or not didn’t matter. As long as it solved the problem.

Noding didn’t argue. He just smiled and looked at Fang Heng. "If you need help, I’m in."

As they were talking, the war prep room door opened, and everyone looked toward the entrance.

A gaunt elder stepped inside.

"Elder Liandel."

Everyone respectfully nodded.

"Mm, everyone’s here."

The elder waved his hand.

Nasir brought Fang Heng over to the elder’s side.

"Elder, this is Fang Heng, the one I mentioned to you."

"Oh?" Elder Liandel was a bit surprised by how young Fang Heng looked. He then turned to Fang Heng, showing a bit of appreciation, and nodded. "I watched both of your matches. Very good. Interested in joining our team?"

"Yes."

Elder Liandel seemed pleased and waved with a smile, "Good, then stay with us."
