Chapter 324: Chapter 202: One for Each, Freeing Up Yu Ren

Yu Ren glanced at James and replied, "If we can’t get any useful information, just kill them."

James was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Yu Ren to have the authority to decide if those people lived or died.

He thought Yu Ren would need to report to a superior before making a decision.

Seeing the look on James’s face, Yu Ren knew what he was thinking. He said calmly, "In our base, loyalty is the number one priority. Without it, there’s only one outcome: death."

James stiffened, then nodded. "I understand. Thank you for the guidance, sir!"

Yu Ren waved his hand. "Remember, even if you have no special skills, as long as you are loyal to the base, you can live well here."

"Yes!" James replied. "I know what to do now."

With that, he turned and went back.

When Des saw him return, he hurried over to ask what had happened.

James repeated what Yu Ren had said. Des was also taken aback for a moment, then nodded. "So, we’ll interrogate them one more time?"

"Right. We’ll interrogate them one more time, and if there’s no useful information, we’ll dispose of them!" James replied.

The two of them immediately began the interrogation, recording the entire process.

Just then, the members of Peach Blossom Base received a notice: they would have the afternoon off!

The storerooms were full and the base was running out of space, so it was the perfect time to let everyone rest.

Upon receiving the notice, the members who had only recently joined Peach Blossom Base were dumbfounded.

"What’s going on? We get days off at this base?"

"Damn, I didn’t even get days off before the flood, but I get them here! The base leadership is so humane!"

"Yeah, so what should we do this afternoon? It’s not like we have anything else to do, right?"

"Let’s clean up the ship!"

"That’s a good idea!"

The members spontaneously began to clean the supply ship.

Meanwhile, James and his men tortured Bao Mu’s loyalists until evening, but they failed to extract any valuable information.

Anything they knew, James and his men already knew as well.

"Looks like they don’t know much either," Des said, shaking his head in resignation.

"In that case, they’re worthless now. Let’s just get rid of them." James had effectively sentenced the men to death.

They wasted no time in disposing of the men and tossing their bodies out.

Just then, Si Youqin arrived with a few people, wheeling in several buckets of food.

Looking at the food containers, James and his men were filled with anticipation. After all, Lu Jiamei had promised them a roasted squab as a reward that afternoon.

They hadn’t eaten meat in a long time.

To their surprise, Si Youqin said to James and his group, "You can all go to the dining hall to eat now."

James and his men were taken aback. They had assumed their portions were in the buckets, but to their surprise, the food that had been brought over wasn’t for them.

"Alright, thank you!" James was the first to recover, thanking her quickly.

"You’re welcome," Si Youqin replied. "You should hurry on over."

James and his group immediately rushed to the dining hall. By the time they arrived, most of the members had already finished their dinner.

The regular members of Peach Blossom Base ate different meals than captives like James, so their dining times were staggered.

The members who hadn’t finished their dinner were quite surprised to see Des and his men walk right into the dining hall.

They all knew Des was the captain of this supply ship; he was the one who had taken them in when they were traded to Xi’an Base.

"How is he out? Did he break out?"

"He didn’t take back control of the ship, did he?"

"No way. Didn’t you see the Evolvers from our base standing right beside them?"

"Did our base release them?"

"I don’t think so. If they were really free, they wouldn’t need an Evolver escort!"

Amid the murmurs of the crowd, James and his group followed Si Youqin to the serving window.

"Once you have your food, you’ll sit over there to eat," Si Youqin said to James, pointing to a corner.

"Yes!" James nodded.

"The leader is very pleased with your performance. We’re adding a meat dish to your dinner: eggplant with minced meat. In addition, James, the server will put the roasted squabs for you five directly onto your trays," Si Youqin continued.

At this, James and his men’s eyes lit up.

They had been worried the higher-ups might forget about their reward.

After her explanation, Si Youqin turned and left.

James and his men began to line up for food. When the server placed an entire, golden-roasted squab on his tray, James was utterly astonished.

He had assumed the five of them would be sharing a single roasted squab, but to his surprise, they were each getting one!

The other people who saw the whole roasted squab on his tray looked on with envy.

Meanwhile, Des and the other three men were ecstatic, because they were getting the same reward!

’A whole roasted squab... Not even Bao Mu at Xi’an Base could be this extravagant!’

After James’s group of five got their food, it was finally the other captives’ turn.

Even without the roasted squab, the meal included eggplant with minced meat. The rich, meaty aroma made them swallow hard.

As they sat down in their designated spot to eat this sumptuous dinner, they were so moved that tears almost streamed down their faces.

They couldn’t remember the last time they’d eaten meat. Even though there wasn’t much of it in the eggplant dish, at least it was meat!

Meanwhile, James and his four men were devouring their meal with gusto. They even chewed up the squab bones and swallowed them down!
