Global Beast Mastery: Only I Can See the Hints

Chapter 659: No Need for Words, Let’s Fight

Chapter 659: Chapter 659: No Need for Words, Let’s Fight

Harbor slowly turned his head to look at Charles behind him. There wasn’t the slightest trace of surprise on his face.

“Interesting,” he said calmly.

In the next moment, the desert around Harbor sank rapidly, and countless desert scorpions burst out from the sand. They swarmed straight toward Charles.

“You’re boring,” Charles sneered. “I thought you’d at least say a few words to me, but no—you want to fight right away!”

Without hesitation, Charles summoned the Nine-Tailed Spirit Wolf, Max.

As a mystical beast with both ice and fire attributes, Max had a huge advantage against these desert scorpions. The instant Max appeared, waves of scorpions were frozen solid by his icy breath.

Charles used the opening to draw out the Chasing the Moon Bow.

Although this weapon wasn’t as powerful as the Black Gold Long Knife, its greatest strength was flexibility. Charles pulled the bowstring all the way back and loosed arrow after arrow of light at Harbor.

The glowing arrows tore through the scorpions and shot toward Harbor at blinding speed.

Harbor stood motionless, his face cold and unreadable, as the arrows streaked toward him. He had long since prepared for Charles’ attack, and he knew the Chasing the Moon Bow well.

When the arrows came within ten meters of him, they suddenly froze midair.

The next instant, they were sucked into a giant transparent vortex.

That vortex was none other than Harbor’s mystical beast—the Void Devourer.

The Void Devourer had no physical body. It existed entirely in the void, immune to all physical damage, and capable of swallowing any form of energy. Whatever it consumed became part of its own arsenal.

After devouring Charles’ arrows, the vortex warped into a glowing mass of twisted light, shining in rainbow colors. After a brief moment, it spat all the arrows back out—now flying at incredible speed straight toward Charles.

Charles only laughed coldly.

“You think you’re the only one who can show off? Please. If you dare stand still and take my attack, then I’ll do the same and take yours head-on!”

Before the rain of arrows could reach him, a shadow suddenly surged up and swallowed them whole.

That shadow, of course, was mousie.

Even though mousie was still only in its growth stage, as a Dark Demigod, it already carried all the traits of a Demigod. Swallowing arrows mid-flight was nothing more than child’s play for a being like that.

After devouring the arrows, mousie transformed into a massive shadow. The darkness spread quickly under Harbor’s feet, and from it, twisted monsters began crawling out. These creatures carried the power that mousie had given them.

This time, Harbor could no longer stay in place.

His body turned into smoke as he pulled back, and the spot where he had just stood suddenly erupted with blinding light.

From that light appeared a radiant twelve-winged angel, its entire body glowing with holy brilliance. This was Harbor’s other mystical beast—the Angel of Light.

The instant the angel descended, dazzling holy light swept across mousie’s shadow. The darkness was crushed in an instant, and the monsters it had summoned crumbled into ash under the burning glow.

Mousie had never faced an opponent as powerful as the Angel of Light. Still, it refused to yield. Defeat was not something it would ever accept.

It burst out of the shadow and forced itself into its complete form—the Dark Demigod.

The moment the full form appeared, all surrounding light was instantly devoured. Even the ongoing battle between the Void Devourer and the Nine-Tailed Spirit Wolf came to a halt. Both of them instinctively turned their gazes toward the clash between the Angel of Light and the Dark Demigod.

The Angel floated in the sky, radiating searing light and heat. The Dark Demigod stood rooted in the shadows of the earth, endlessly consuming every trace of brightness.

Both mystical beasts were terrifyingly strong, and their natures were complete opposites. That meant their battle could only be brutal and extreme, twisting the very space around them.

But Charles paid no attention to the clash of these two mighty beasts. He knew his real enemy was Harbor. And he was certain that Harbor wouldn’t be helpless without his mystical beasts.

Just as Charles stayed sharp, scanning the battlefield around him, Harbor suddenly appeared behind his back.

In his hand was a strange-looking dagger.

With a fierce grip, Harbor thrust it straight toward Charles’ back.

Charles instinctively dodged to the side.

The two brushed past each other, Harbor’s sneak attack failing to land.

“As a sixth-tier Beast Master, you’re fighting a fifth-tier Beast Master like me—and you still resort to sneak attacks? Isn’t that a bit shameless? Or is that the only tactic the Ancient Academy ever taught you?”

After pulling back to a safe distance, Charles mocked him without hesitation.

Harbor’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. He wouldn’t let his enemy’s words stir his emotions.

Instead of striking again at Charles right away, Harbor summoned yet another mystical beast.

The scorching desert air suddenly grew cooler.

Snowflakes drifted down from the sky, gathering together until they formed a towering giant of ice—the Frost Giant King.

“So it’s the Frost Giant King… I never thought you’d actually have a mystical beast like this,” Charles said the moment he saw the massive figure.

Though it looked much like an ordinary Frost Giant, the power radiating from it was far beyond the rest of its kind. It was the ruler among Frost Giants—the King itself.

To form a contract with a Frost Giant King was almost impossible. For Harbor to have done it meant he was hiding far more strength than he had shown so far.

“Let’s stop wasting time. Summoning one beast after another just to test each other’s strength—what’s the point?” Charles said as he summoned his own beast, the Two-Winged Savage Gold-Eater Beast.

Though weaker in raw power than the Frost Giant King, its attributes directly countered the giant. That meant in a real fight, the two could hold each other off. Even if the Gold-Eater Beast began to lose ground, it could still last long enough—for as long as it took Charles and Harbor’s duel to reach its end.

“Why don’t we just fight with everything we’ve got? Once our battle is decided, no one else needs to waste any more time.”

As he spoke, Charles drew the Black Gold Long Knife. Without hesitation, he ordered his beast to pin down Harbor’s Frost Giant King while he himself charged forward, blade in hand, rushing straight at Harbor.

But Harbor didn’t change his tactics because of Charles’ words.

He knew very well that Charles was trying to deceive him.

After all, Harbor already knew Charles had formed a contract with the Chrono Rabbit.

Charles hadn’t summoned the Chrono Rabbit yet, which meant he was clearly saving it for the final moment—to strike Harbor with an unexpected attack.

But Harbor wasn’t panicked either.

He too hadn’t called out all of his mystical beasts. As a sixth-tier Beast Master, he had more beasts under his command than Charles did.

Facing Charles’ rapid charge, Harbor’s right hand suddenly flared with green light. The glow shifted into the shape of a longsword.

The weapon in his hand was the Blade of Life.

In battle, the Blade of Life could heal its wielder at any time. At the same time, every strike it landed caused its target to bleed.

Though the Blade of Life wasn’t especially powerful in raw attack and rarely finished an enemy quickly, its strength lay in endurance. Over time, it would grant its wielder a steady and decisive advantage.

The instant Charles saw the Blade of Life, his expression grew grim.

He knew too well—if the fight dragged on, he would surely fall into disadvantage.

So he resolved to end the battle quickly.

Moments later, the two finally clashed for the first time.

The Black Gold Long Knife met the Blade of Life.

The impact of two rare weapons crashing together created trouble for both sides.

The sheer power of the Black Gold Long Knife tore through the Blade of Life’s guard, its force striking Harbor directly. Though Harbor kept a calm look on his face, inside he was shaken. He realized if he didn’t defeat Charles soon, Charles really could kill him with just a few swings of that blade.

At the same time, the Blade of Life’s bleeding effect cut through Charles’ defense, seeping into him.

Charles could feel his life draining away at a terrifying speed. And he knew—no matter what tricks he used, there was no way to stop the bleeding once it began.

The Blade of Life was a far greater threat than he had expected.

Both men quickly pulled back, putting distance between them.

They now fully understood—the opponent before them was someone who could end their life.

So neither rushed into the second exchange. Both took the moment to assess the other’s condition.

Because of that, an eerie silence fell over their battlefield.

Not far away, their mystical beasts were locked in fierce combat, clashing with power from every element.
