Charles slipped into the underground tunnels dug out by the Desert Goblins while still cloaked in invisibility.

He followed the winding passage deeper and deeper, quickly closing in on the area where the Desert Goblin Queen resided.

Along the way, he brushed past countless Desert Goblins.

Some of them had exceptionally keen senses of smell and seemed to catch a faint trace of Charles’s scent.

However, because Charles had made thorough preparations, they merely assumed their noses were playing tricks on them.

After a quarter of an hour, Charles finally reached the very end of the Desert Goblins’ underground tunnel.

All that remained was to push open the dilapidated gate ahead, and he would step directly into the chamber of the Desert Goblin Queen.

He crept forward on silent feet, hoping to slip inside without being detected.

But just as he was about to cross the threshold, a familiar laugh echoed from within.

It was the laugh of the Desert Goblin Queen.

“Did you really think such a pathetic invisibility trick could fool me?! You have gravely underestimated me, and you shall pay a terrible price for it!”

Her voice thundered from behind the gate.

At the same time, the entire underground passage trembled violently.

The tunnel where Charles stood began to collapse around him.

Even if he wanted to retreat now, it was utterly impossible, for the way behind him had been completely sealed off.

He had no choice but to charge forward, straight into another confrontation with the Desert Goblin Queen!

Charles tightened his grip on the Black Gold Long Knife in his hand.

“I came here today with the sole purpose of wiping out you and your entire Desert Goblin brood! So I never intended to remain hidden forever!” he declared coldly.

With that, he brandished his weapon and charged through the gate!

“You actually dared to do something this insane just to strengthen your own power!” Charles exclaimed in shock.

“Do you not fear that the conflicting forces of so many attributes will clash violently within you? If they fail to harmonize, your body will explode on the spot!”

Faced with Charles’s astonishment, the Desert Goblin Queen was overjoyed.

To her, his reaction was proof that her earlier choices had been the correct ones.

“I am nothing like you fragile humans. Even if the powers of different attributes clash within my body, I will not be greatly affected!”

After finishing her declaration, the Desert Goblin Queen still did not choose to attack Charles.

Instead, she adjusted her tone, deliberately softening it in an attempt to appear more approachable.

“My strength now is far greater than it was before! The power of the Desert Goblins has already surpassed that of the Serpents. So why not choose to cooperate with us?

We will eventually go to war with the Stellar Empire, and in that war, you too could wield your strength to great effect.”

Charles froze on the spot when he heard this.

Never in his wildest imagination would he have thought that the Desert Goblin Queen would actually try to win him over.

Though her intelligence far exceeded that of ordinary Desert Goblins, hadn’t they been locked in direct enmity before?

“You’re… trying to recruit me?” Charles asked in disbelief.

The Desert Goblin Queen nodded heavily.

“That is exactly what I’m doing! And to show my sincerity, I can even share with you a piece of crucial intelligence.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, she went on.

“The alliance between the Ancient Academy and the Stellar Empire is not solid. The two sides are merely using each other.

What’s more, the true target of the Ancient Academy is you. They don’t seem particularly interested in waging an all-out war with the Serpent Empire.”

With those words, the Queen outright betrayed Andrew.

Charles gave a slight nod.

The information was indeed accurate.

And just as the Desert Goblin Queen had said, if his only goal were to resist the Stellar Empire, then cooperation between the two of them might have been possible.

If you are willing to join us in fighting the Stellar Empire, and lead the Desert Goblins in complete submission to the Serpent Empire, then I can still consider working with you.”

The instant these words left his lips, the expression on the Desert Goblin Queen’s face twisted into one of hideous fury.

She roared in utter disbelief.

“Do you even understand what you’re saying? You actually want me to lead the Desert Goblins into submission under the Serpent Empire?!”

The Desert Goblin Queen’s voice rose sharply as she shouted.

“That is absolutely impossible! For you to make such a demand is nothing but an insult to me, and I will never forgive you for it!”

As she bellowed, her massive body shifted with terrifying force.

At the same time, countless ordinary Desert Goblins poured out from the tunnels branching off from the great hall.

Their numbers surged like a tidal wave, forming a terrifying onslaught.

Anyone else would have felt immense pressure when faced with such a horde.

She slammed her massive arms into the ground, shattering it beneath her.

The entire chamber collapsed, sending everyone plummeting downward.

Due to her colossal size and the multicolored auras of elemental energy swirling around her, the Queen had far more room to maneuver during the descent.

She could use her immense bulk to squeeze Charles into tighter and tighter space, while simultaneously lashing out with the multitude of elemental powers she had absorbed.

“Your tricks are useless! No matter what happens, I will kill you here today—unless you submit yourself to the Serpent Empire!”

Even in the chaos of the rapid fall, Charles remained composed.

Step by step, he continued closing the distance between himself and the Desert Goblin Queen.

At the very instant before they struck the ground, he finally found his opening.

The Black Gold Long Knife slashed across the Queen’s body, delivering a devastating blow.

A cry of agony tore from her throat.

Because the Queen’s mind directly controlled the ordinary Desert Goblins, her suffering instantly rippled out to them as well.

One after another, the Desert Goblins wailed in unison, their screams of pain echoing throughout the collapsing depths.

The countless wails intertwined, resonating together in a dreadful harmony. That resonance was carried and amplified through the network of tunnels the Desert Goblins had dug.

It did not take long before the sound of agonized cries echoed through every passage.

She immediately devoured all the Desert Goblins surrounding her.

So she resolved once more to seize the initiative.

With shocking speed for a creature of her immense size, the Queen charged straight toward Charles.

Charles stood his ground, watching her advance with a cold sneer.

He tightened his grip on the Black Gold Long Knife in his hand.

For him, all that remained was to wait for her to close the distance.

Because Charles was so deeply familiar with the Desert Goblins’ tactics, he knew the Queen had no other, more terrifying tricks left at her disposal.
