Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready
Chapter 590. A Sword Covers the Sky, Supreme Might
Two Celestial Seat Immortals had fallen in quick succession, slain with ruthless efficiency. Lu Yuan now turned his attention to the two who remained.
The Immortals from the Eternals knew that disaster awaited them. Even with all four of them fighting together, they had been no match for Lu Yuan, and two of them were already dead. Now that only the two of them remained, the outcome was obvious. Before long, they too would share the fate of the Ji Clan's Celestial Seat Immortals.
Were they really going to die here?
The thought shook them. They could not afford to wait any longer. They had to find a way to escape.
It had taken them an immeasurable amount of time to cultivate to their present level, and neither was willing to die now.
Celestial Seat Immortals might stand below Supreme Immortals, but they were still among the most powerful beings in the universe. More importantly, their plan was already underway and might soon come to fruition. In time, the entire Xuanhuang Cosmos would fall under the control of the Eternals and the Ji Clan. If they died here, all their efforts would have been for nothing.
Once the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons descended in force, the two of them also stood to reap immense benefits. They might reach the Supreme Immortal Realm or even ascend beyond it. Death would rob them of everything.
The moment they felt Lu Yuan's gaze, both Celestial Seat Immortals unleashed their strongest power and began bombarding Buddha's Palm Domain. Their only goal was to escape. Fighting Lu Yuan was no longer an option.
They no longer cared how he had become so powerful or how he had reached such heights in so little time. All that mattered was getting away, for they knew that only a Supreme Immortal could defeat him now.
Thunder raged throughout Buddha's Palm Domain as their attacks crashed against it. Terrifying power tore through the enclosed space, and cracks began spreading across the domain. Celestial Seat Immortals possessed formidable means. Buddha's Palm Domain alone could never hold them forever, nor had Lu Yuan expected it to.
He remained unhurried. He had already slain two of the four Celestial Seat Immortals. The remaining pair were merely struggling to survive.
Great Luo Sword Embryo in hand, Lu Yuan stepped forward. Golden vital qi surged across the sky like radiant clouds, bearing down upon the two Immortals with crushing force.
Outside, the onlookers stared in disbelief. The experts from the various races were especially stunned. Two Celestial Seat Immortals had been slain, their physical forms and souls utterly erased, leaving no possibility of revival.
Some starfields did not possess even one expert of this level. A Celestial Seat Immortal could destroy a powerful clan with ease, yet Lu Yuan had killed two of them in mere moments.
Everyone had known he was strong. No one had imagined he was this strong.
At first, they had thought Lu Yuan's arrival might turn the tide and save Earth and the Celestial Court from destruction. Instead, he had reversed the entire situation. The side that had faced annihilation was now the one annihilating its enemies.
The clansmen of the two factions aboard the Eternal Warship were too stunned to speak. The fallen Immortals had been figures of immense stature in their eyes, yet now only two remained. If those two fell as well, what would become of everyone else?
They could not bring themselves to imagine it.
Only those from the Celestial Court and their allies remained relatively calm.
Seeing the others' expressions, Jiang Ningxian smiled. "I told you Lu Yuan would handle it. What difference do four Celestial Seat Immortals make? They are nothing to him now. If he wants them dead, he can kill every last one. That is how strong he has become."
Pride shone in her smile. In Jiang Ningxian's eyes, Lu Yuan had never failed to accomplish anything he set his mind to. After all they had experienced together, she had absolute confidence in him.
Beside her, Jiang Huanyun had finally recovered from his shock. After a moment's hesitation, he turned to her and asked, "So Lu Yuan reached the Celestial Seat Immortal Realm while he was traveling through the cosmos?"
His voice trembled slightly. He had watched Lu Yuan advance from the very first realm of the Immortal Realm, yet Jiang Huanyun himself remained a Grotto-Heaven Immortal while Lu Yuan had already surpassed him by several realms. At this rate, reaching the Supreme Immortal Realm seemed only a matter of time.
His progress was simply too fast.
"Yes," Jiang Ningxian replied. "All we need to do now is watch. There is no reason to worry. If Lu Yuan cannot resolve this, none of us can."
No one disagreed. They were still reeling from the strength Lu Yuan had displayed and could do little but watch.
Only Zhu Qingyu grew somewhat downcast as she listened to the pride in Jiang Ningxian's voice. Jiang Ningxian knew far more about King Lu than she did and understood him far better. Something shifted in Zhu Qingyu's gaze as she looked toward Lu Yuan, though no one could tell what she was thinking.
Meanwhile, the fighting within Buddha's Palm Domain continued. Terrifying power surged as the two Celestial Seat Immortals hammered relentlessly at their prison. At last, the domain reached its limit. Cracks spread across it before the entire space shattered.
The two Immortals were elated. They thought escape was finally within reach.
Then a vast wave of sword intent swept toward them, shaking the surrounding space and sealing them within a storm of power. A profound sense of danger seized them both.
No!
The same thought flashed through their minds as a razor-sharp blade of light descended.
Both Celestial Seat Immortals immediately mustered their power to defend themselves, but this strike was even stronger than those that had come before. They had already exhausted much of their strength breaking free of Buddha's Palm Domain and could no longer withstand it.
Pfft.
The sword light fell, sending razor-sharp radiance streaking in every direction. Cracks spread across one Immortal's physical form as blood sprayed into the air, and his aura was completely suppressed. The force was simply too overwhelming. His companion fared little better and went deathly pale beneath the descending sword light.
Both were struck by the same thought—Lu Yuan was terrifying.
They had only just escaped Buddha's Palm Domain, yet another deadly sword strike was already upon them. Their only choice was to resist with everything they had.
Lu Yuan's attack was stronger now because he no longer needed to expend any power maintaining Buddha's Palm Domain. He could pour all his strength into this single strike, and what followed proved just how devastating it was.
Pfft.
The wounded Immortal could no longer hold on. His physical form began to disintegrate beneath the sword light, and his flame of life flickered on the verge of extinction. As Lu Yuan poured more power into the strike, the Immortal vanished completely. Even his aura was erased from the world, as though he had never existed.
The third Celestial Seat Immortal was dead.
The sight left the onlookers numb with fear. The clansmen of the two factions trembled uncontrollably, already imagining the fate awaiting them. Three Celestial Seat Immortals had fallen. With only one remaining, what could he possibly do?
The experts from the other races were equally shaken. To them, Celestial Seat Immortals were nearly invincible, yet before Lu Yuan, they seemed no different from ordinary cultivators. A battle between experts at that level would normally last for days even if they sought only to determine a victor, much less fight to the death. Lu Yuan had arrived only moments ago, and three were already dead.
No one would have believed it without witnessing it themselves.
His strength had become the stuff of myth. When these factions first descended upon Earth a few years ago, Lu Yuan had not even reached the Immortal Realm. Now, it seemed a truly invincible expert was rising before their eyes.
No one was wondering any longer whether Lu Yuan could defeat the two factions. They were wondering how far he would rise in the future.
He would undoubtedly become a Supreme Immortal. Perhaps he would even transcend the limits of the Immortal Realm and enter that legendary realm no one in the universe had reached for untold ages.
At the center of the battlefield, the last Celestial Seat Immortal from the Eternals stared blankly at his fallen companion. For a moment, he could not believe what he had seen.
Then he came to his senses, and terror filled his face.
