Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle
Chapter 1320: Asad’s Cleanup Team
"I guess I need to send in the cleaning crew..."
Of course, Fiona wasn’t actually talking about a group of cleaners.
There was only one person she had in mind.
Asad.
The Necromancer was currently staying at Blood Talon Shelter. As far as Fiona knew, he had gone there to hatch some pets for a woman he seemed to be interested in.
At least, that was what she had assumed.
She had only caught a few glimpses of him through her rats while they were moving around the shelter. The handsome man had been walking around with a woman, and although Fiona hadn’t paid much attention to them, she had noticed that Asad seemed to be spending quite a lot of time with her.
She wasn’t sure what exactly was going on between them... But it didn’t matter right now.
Fiona opened her System Interface and checked her list of friends.
She quickly found Asad’s name and sent him a private message.
[ Fiona: I found a large maintenance chamber inside the First Citadel. There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of humanoid machines inside. Some of them are still operational, and they attacked my rats. ]
She waited.
A few seconds later, a reply appeared.
[ Asad: Okay. ]
Fiona stared at the response.
"...That’s it?"
She couldn’t help but smile.
It was exactly the kind of response she expected from him.
She immediately sent him the location of the Gate Portal connected to Mist Shelter.
Asad didn’t ask any further questions.
A few minutes later, the Gate Portal inside Blood Talon Shelter activated.
Asad stepped through, and just like that, he immediately noticed the difference in atmosphere.
The moment he emerged from the portal, he found himself inside the chamber located at the center of Mist Shelter. Unlike Blood Talon Shelter, which had its own atmosphere and surroundings, this place felt different.
The air was clean and strangely calm.
The shelter itself was on the enormous Floating Eden Island, making the entire settlement feel isolated from the outside world.
Then, he saw two Warden Units standing near the portal.
They didn’t move when Asad appeared. Well, they had already recognized him as an ally and had no reason to treat him as a threat.
Asad glanced at them before stepping out of the chamber...
Just like that, he had barely taken a few steps when a rat approached him.
It stopped in front of him and looked up.
"Fiona?"
The rat nodded.
A moment later, Fiona’s voice reached him through their connection.
"You’re here."
"Where is it?"
"Follow this guy."
The rat immediately turned around and began moving through the shelter.
Asad followed without hesitation.
He didn’t waste any time asking questions. Fiona had already explained the situation through their private message, and he understood that whatever was inside the ancient facility was dangerous enough to require his assistance.
They soon left Mist Shelter and approached the entrance of the ancient facility.
The massive ruins towered above them.
Fiona’s rats had already mapped much of the surrounding area, allowing them to guide Asad toward the section connected to the Sentinel maintenance chamber.
Asad looked toward the entrance.
"So this is the First Citadel..."
Fiona had told him about the facility before, but seeing it personally was different.
The ruins were enormous.
And somewhere inside were thousands of humanoid machines that were apparently still functioning after countless years.
Asad’s expression became serious.
"Let’s see what we’re dealing with."
He raised one hand, and soon, dark energy immediately gathered around him.
Whom~
Five figures slowly emerged from the darkness.
They were banshees!
Their translucent bodies floated silently above the ground, their ghostly forms moving with the cold wind surrounding Asad.
"Follow the rats."
The Banshees immediately spread out.
They followed the rats through the entrance and deeper into the facility, allowing Asad to maintain a connection with their movements while staying behind them.
After several minutes, the Banshees reached the corridor leading toward the massive maintenance chamber.
One of them returned and reported the location through their connection.
Asad nodded.
"So they’re still there."
He didn’t immediately summon his strongest undead.
The First Citadel was located beneath the Floating Eden Island, and there was no telling how much of the facility was connected to the island itself.
If the Anima Civilization had built the systems that kept the island floating around the facility, destroying the wrong structure could have disastrous consequences.
Asad wasn’t willing to take that risk.
Instead, he raised his hand again.
In just a second, dark energy surged around him.
"Let’s start with something simple."
A massive figure emerged from the darkness.
The Tanker Zombie.
Its enormous body slammed onto the metallic floor...
Then, another figure appeared beside it.
An Armored Zombie covered in thick armor and carrying a massive weapon.
Asad pointed toward the corridor...
"Break through. Don’t destroy anything other than the walls blocking your path."
The two zombies immediately moved forward.
The Tanker Zombie charged headfirst!
Boom!
Its massive body slammed into the wall...
The entire corridor shook as the metal groaned under the impact.
The Armored Zombie followed immediately, striking the damaged section with its weapon.
Boom!
Another portion of the wall collapsed.
The sound echoed throughout the ancient facility and Asad remained behind them.
"Keep going."
The Tanker Zombie charged again.
This time, the remaining barrier gave way.
The massive opening revealed the corridor leading toward the Sentinel maintenance chamber.
Almost immediately, faint red lights appeared in the darkness ahead.
The Sentinels had detected them.
Asad’s expression remained calm.
"Here they come."
Mechanical footsteps echoed through the corridor.
Several massive humanoid machines emerged from the darkness, and their eyes locked onto the undead army.
The Sentinels raised their weapons.
Red energy began gathering at their arms.
Asad finally raised one hand... Even without his staff, he summoned several figures!
They were Zombie Knights.
Asad had deliberately limited the number of undead he summoned.
He could summon far stronger creatures.
His Zombie King, Mummy Lord, Wraith Queen, and Doom Knights could easily change the battlefield.
But this wasn’t the place to use them...
