Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!

Chapter 1238 - 542: Moon Surface War

  • Next Chapter

Roaring, trembling, burning...

Countless jumbled noises tangled together, like a grand symphony performed by lunatics, echoing in the Hero's mind for a long time. Even after she managed to stand up, her feet still felt hollow, her whole body swaying unsteadily.

Although she'd avoided the miserable fate of snapping her neck thanks to the Phoenix's Etheric body, the Hero had already tried before in her Mermaid Form and confirmed that relying solely on the Magic Power of her Transformation could not elicit any response from this submersible.

So she dispelled the Phoenix Avatar and returned to the appearance of a young girl.

After finally standing straight, she groped her way forward little by little in the dim cabin.

Dim red light flickered around her, the Moon Language alarm had long since gone silent, leaving only the occasional crackling explosion of electric current.

And in the half-ruined submersible, there was still one wall left intact, on which a clear white Emblem was lit.

Even though the Hero couldn't read Moon Language, she could more or less guess the meaning of that symbol—it should be indicating an emergency exit.

Though her steps were still somewhat unsteady, she stumbled and staggered her way to the wall of the living quarters.

The instant the girl's hand touched the wall, this time she didn't even need to actively release Magic Power; the seamless white wall surface lit up with a faint Moonlight on its own, then lost its substance and dissolved into tangible Runes of light, spinning as they attached themselves to the Hero's body.

The hatch opened automatically; the submersible unleashed its final Magic Power to place a layer of protective Magic upon this lone passenger.

Silvery-white Radiance wrapped itself around the girl's slender body, forming a nearly Transparent film that enveloped her completely from head to toe.

Even though she had no memory of being the one who started the fire, looking at the submersible—already covered in scars, yet still thinking only of protecting its passenger at the very last moment—the Hero couldn't help feeling a faint, inexplicable guilt.

'Let's not be this reckless in reality...' The Hero, currently reliving this strange past, silently offered an apology in her heart to this dutiful submersible.

Under this layer of protection that could provide Isolation from vacuum and resist radiation, sufficient to adapt to the environment of outer cosmos, the Hero cautiously walked out of the cabin.

And then she froze on the spot.

A city in blazing burning flames filled her entire field of vision.

The once pure-white sprawl of buildings was now shrouded in fire and smoke.

The towering structures of the Moon Capital leaned at angles before her eyes; the once orderly streets were covered in cracks, and great swaths of silvery-white Radiance surged up from underground—not to repair the city, but to collide in the void with some even more violent force.

And in the boundless cosmic backdrop above, Space fissures sprawled across the sky over the city like torn-open scars.

The Hero instinctively felt that the largest of those Space Rifts was precisely where the submersible had just burst out.

Gray, chaotic Magic Power was continuously seeping out from those Space Rifts, spawning countless Moon Demons.

Twisted and primal, terrifying and hideous, as if from the primeval age—Ashen Moon Demons whose every structure existed solely for survival and slaughter gathered into a chaotic Arcane Surge, pouring down from the heavens like a flash flood.

'Wow, we're screwed.'

Seeing this scene before her, even the Depraved Hero couldn't help letting out a gasp of amazement.

The Hero herself simply gaped blankly, her mouth hanging open. Her already pale little face lost the last trace of color.

She realized she had caused a disaster.

The war between the Twin Moons had broken out so suddenly and so hastily that the Hero of the past hadn't even figured out what this place was before she was muddle-headedly thrown right into the center of the battlefield.

But for the Twin Moons, they had been waiting for this war for tens of millions of years. Though it had only just begun, the battle had already entered a white-hot stage from the very first moment.

An Ashen Demon Dragon as large as a skyscraper tore open the curtain of spacetime and Descended with a Roaring crash from the void. It had no intention of surveying its surroundings; the instant it landed, it began rampant destruction. Its thick tail swept sideways with a sudden lash, severing a Moon Capital tower at the base.

Before the massive building had even fully collapsed, more Ashen Demons around it spewed their breaths; chaotic and frenzied Magic Power beams blasted the tower into countless fragments, while the sweeping heatwave blew the Hero's hair high into the air.

But the long-prepared Moon Capital likewise had no intention of sitting still and waiting for death.

Though the shattered buildings turned to dust, they still remained unnaturally pure white; when they fell onto the Ashen Demons, it was like ice water meeting hot oil, producing a scalp-numbing crackling detonation that made the Ashen Demons' bodies begin to collapse in an instant.

The Demon Dragon's back spines emitted tens of thousands of lightning beams, trying to vaporize this dust, but before they could travel far, they were swallowed up by countless Silent void holes appearing out of nowhere.

Next, the Demon Dragon's body seemed to be gnawed by innumerable invisible giant mouths, round holes constantly blooming across its flesh; in less than ten seconds, this once overbearing Demon Dragon toppled with a thunderous crash.

Its fragments sank into the ground, making the silver light on the surface glow even more dazzlingly, while the Ashen Demons enveloped by that light collapsed one after another—their bodies shattering and melting, turning into dark residue that the Moon Capital absorbed.

One side continuously rained Magic Creatures down from the void; the other continuously disassembled, Purified, and devoured the invading Magic Creatures.

This perfectly evenly matched clash made the shockwaves of battle grow more and more violent, as though the entire world were trembling along with it.

For the Hero, who had just escaped from the tumbling, out-of-control submersible, this was undoubtedly going from the wolf's den straight into the tiger's jaws.

[Hero's Escape]

A beam of silvery-white Moonlight shot from the void; the body of an Ashen Demon not far away was vaporized on the spot, leaving only half a hideous head flying high into the air, spinning as it smashed down at the Hero's feet, shattering with a crisp crack.

This seemed to become a kind of signal, making the Hero shiver from head to toe; then, without looking back, she bolted.

As a Beast Spirit Mage—no, as a living being whose most basic Survival Instinct was screaming at her—she knew that if she didn't quickly get away from the center of this battlefield, it wouldn't be long before she ended up looking much like that Magic Creature just now.

After all, right now she neither had the vast Magic Power backing of the Ancient Hero, nor was she the Shining World Saintess who was only a step away from the Ultimate Shift.

A girl who had never thought herself particularly powerful, when faced with such a terrifying battlefield—and one with no Goblins in sight—naturally chose a very decisive strategic withdrawal.

Fortunately, for the Moon Capital as well, this suddenly erupting encounter was clearly not something they had anticipated.

Without pre-prepared Divine Domain Magic, even if it could defeat the Ashen Moon, the end result would probably still be mutual destruction.

The Moon Capital was frantically devouring the Ashen Demons flooding out of the rifts while constantly condensing Moonlight in the void, attempting to plug those ever-expanding Space Rifts.

Precisely because of this, this city-sized Magic Creature, which never showed mercy to any foreign "filth," had no spare attention to deal with the human girl fleeing in disgrace through its streets.

Otherwise, the moment the Hero stepped out of the hatch, she would probably already have been swallowed by a black hole silently appearing from the void.
