Chapter 803: Chapter 541: Hydra’s Final Legacy, Moonlight’s Opportunity to Advance to Catastrophe Level
It crashed into that invisible giant net woven from the Law of Space.
"HISS!"
The Demon Serpent let out an agonizing roar. Its momentum had been far too fierce. This collision felt less like hitting a solid wall and more like plunging into a snare of countless blades. Those seemingly delicate silver threads were unimaginably sharp.
SLASH!
Under the slicing of the silver threads, its indestructible black scales were easily torn apart like paper. Bone-deep wounds instantly riddled its head and neck. Inky black blood gushed out like a fountain, but the moment it left the body, it was subjected to Imprisonment, freezing in place to form eerie black beads of blood suspended in midair.
And it wasn’t over yet.
"Constrict," Mage Morpheus spat out a single word.
The massive silver net abruptly began to shrink.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Space itself was squeezed and folded, letting out a teeth-aching wail. Trapped inside, the massive body of the black Demon Serpent began to unnaturally twist and deform. It struggled madly, its colossal form churning the lake water and whipping up monstrous waves. But this time, no matter how much it burned its Life Energy or erupted with power, it could not shake the silver net in the slightest. Like a bug caught in a spider’s web, the harder it struggled, the tighter it was bound.
Raylo watched with a tingling scalp. He wondered if this was the true power of a Legendary Space Mage. The first move had been Imprisonment. This time, it was Strangulation!
Almost at the exact moment Mage Morpheus made his move, a sudden anomaly occurred on Lake Heart Island!
BUZZ!
The giant Snake Egg suddenly emitted an incredibly violent buzzing sound. The serpentine patterns on the shell’s surface completely came alive, bursting with a blinding milky-white light. An aura even more terrifying, ancient, and savage than that of the black Demon Serpent frantically seeped out from inside the shell.
It was the will of the Nine-headed Demon Serpent Hydra! It had been fully awakened.
CRACK!
With a crisp sound, a distinct fracture appeared on the pristine white shell.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Immediately after, more fractures spread rapidly across the surface of the giant Snake Egg like a spiderweb. Surges of pure Life Energy, mixed with a wicked and powerful soul fluctuation, gushed out from the cracks. It was about to hatch prematurely!
"Not good!" Mage Wendel’s expression shifted as the Lava Energy in his palm instantly condensed into a dark-red Fireball the size of a human head. "Delin! There’s no time! Destroy it!"
Mage Delin stared intently at the soon-to-shatter Snake Egg, a look of disappointment and regret flashing across his face. He let out a sigh.
"What a pity," he said softly.
But the moment he finished those words, his entire demeanor underwent an explosive transformation. His eyes became incredibly profound, as if reflecting a genuine starry sky. Slowly, he uttered a single phrase.
"Annihilation of the Soul Spirit."
These words carried no physical sound. Rather, their voice did not resonate in the material world, but directly detonated deep within everyone’s soul!
Raylo felt his own soul violently shudder. With Mage Delin at the center, an invisible, mighty spiritual force swept out like a transparent ripple, instantly passing over the violently trembling Snake Egg.
There was no explosion. There was no light. There was nothing at all. Only a deathly silence.
A second ago, the giant Snake Egg had been flashing and buzzing madly, looking as if it might burst at any moment. But now, all its light, all its tremors, and all the terrifying will exuding from it were completely extinguished, like a snuffed-out candle. That awakening final soul origin belonging to the ancient mutated species, the Nine-headed Demon Serpent Hydra, was thoroughly, cleanly, and flawlessly erased the instant that invisible mental power swept through.
The cracks on the shell remained, but absolutely no soul fluctuations could be felt within it anymore. All that was left was an ownerless, pure, and boundless Essence of Life, as vast as an ocean.
The Lava Energy Fireball in Mage Wendel’s palm slowly died out. He looked at Mage Delin with a trace of awe in his eyes. Spiritual Magic truly was the most mysterious and unpredictable.
Just like that, the crisis was averted.
Mage Delin turned around and looked at Raylo, who was still in a daze. A complex smile appeared on his face—it seemed to hold both pity and relief.
"You’re getting a huge bargain, kid."
"Huh?" Raylo froze, failing to react.
"What do you mean, ’huh’?" Mage Delin glared at him in annoyance. "Hydra’s soul has been thoroughly annihilated by me, but the Life Origin it spent countless years accumulating for rebirth remains perfectly intact inside this egg.
"This is the purest Life Crystal! Destroying it just like that would be an even bigger waste than before.
"Choose one of your Giant Dragon companions to swallow this Snake Egg. The Life Essence inside will help it break through to the Catastrophe Level!"
Break through to the Catastrophe Level!
Mage Delin’s words struck like a thunderbolt, and Raylo’s heart began to pound uncontrollably.
Catastrophe Level! That was an existence standing at the very pinnacle of the world. Whether human, Giant Dragon, or any other race, stepping into this realm meant possessing the mighty power to single-handedly overturn a large-scale war, or even stand against an entire Kingdom!
And now... an opportunity to let his own Giant Dragon companion step into this Domain was laid bare right in front of him?
Raylo’s breathing instantly grew heavy. Almost instinctively, he turned his head and swept his gaze across his side. Three little companions were staring at him in unison with three pairs of round, differently colored cat-like eyes.
Moonlight. Coal Ball. Lightning.
They had clearly understood Mage Delin’s words as well. That was Hydra’s Life Origin! It was a supreme treasure sufficient to allow a Giant Dragon to break through to the Catastrophe Level!
Who would get this chance?
Raylo’s gaze darted back and forth between the three "cats."
Lightning was a Thunder Dragon that controlled Thunderbolt Power, boasting furious attack power and extreme speed. If it could advance to the Catastrophe Level, the Black Stone Territory would possess an indestructible blade of war.
Coal Ball was a Space Giant Dragon with extraordinary innate talent. If it advanced to the Catastrophe Level, what kind of unimaginable heights would its proficiency in Space Magic reach? Teleportation, logistics... its strategic value would be immeasurable. It would be even more precious than a combat-oriented Catastrophe Level Giant Dragon!
Analyzed rationally, giving this opportunity to Coal Ball was the choice that maximized benefits. Raylo’s eyes landed on the black cat, who had tucked its paws in, trying its best to look well-behaved while the tip of its tail couldn’t help but twitch slightly. Sensing its master’s gaze, Coal Ball let out an ingratiating purr from its throat.
However, Raylo’s gaze ultimately passed over it and settled on the large white cat.
Moonlight.
She just lay there quietly, gazing at Raylo with those pale golden eyes. She didn’t deliberately try to curry favor like Coal Ball, nor did she reveal any obvious longing like Lightning. She merely looked at him, her eyes brimming with absolute trust.
Raylo’s heart softened. This was his first Giant Dragon companion, the one who had stayed by his side and watched him grow from an insignificant Lord.
"Moonlight," Raylo said, no longer hesitating.
"Meow?" Coal Ball and Lightning simultaneously tilted their heads next to them, visible disappointment and envy shining in their eyes.
Moonlight stood up and affectionately nudged his hand with her furry head.
"Go on," Raylo said, rubbing her head with a smile on his face.
"ROAR!"
A clear, resonant dragon’s cry pierced the heavens!
In the next second, the large white cat vanished. In its place appeared a Silver Dragon, its entire body covered in streamlined silver scales and radiating a cold brilliance akin to Moonlight!
Moonlight unfurled her massive Dragon Wings. Her two slender, spiral-patterned silver horns pointed straight up at the sky, emitting a faint halo. A sense of majesty and oppression unique to a Giant Dragon instantly enveloped the entirety of Lake Heart Island.
