Chapter 795: Chapter 537: The Unfrozen Lake at the Top of the World

Mage Delin glanced down at the two Frost Giant Pythons, which were glaring hungrily, ready to attack at any moment. He then looked over at the bottomless lake.

He had no desire to waste his power here fighting these two powerful Magical Beasts.

Their target was the Hydra, not to go around slaying pythons.

"Let’s go."

Mage Delin said, gesturing to Morpheus.

"Since the Hydra isn’t here, there’s no need to get tangled up with them."

"Let’s get ready to leave."

Mage Morpheus nodded and was about to activate his Space Magic Ball to create a teleportation passage.

"Wait!"

But just then, Raylo’s voice rang out.

The gazes of the three Legendary Mages fell upon him in unison.

"Senior."

Raylo looked toward Mage Delin, his tone steady.

"I have an idea."

"Oh?"

"Go on."

Raylo met the gazes of the three powerful mages and gathered his thoughts.

"The Hydra is incredibly cunning. Since it was able to set the Molten Giant Dragon trap to deceive us once, couldn’t it do so a second time?"

"The fact that this lake can block Spiritual Power probes is a huge red flag in itself."

"You also just said, Senior, that you couldn’t sense the Hydra’s aura here."

Raylo paused, then offered his theory.

"Is it possible it’s using that to its advantage?"

"It’s hiding deep at the bottom of the lake, in some corner our Spiritual Power can’t reach."

"It might even be using these two Frost Giant Pythons as gatekeepers to stop any outsiders from investigating!"

A place that could block a Legendary Mage’s Spiritual Power was, by definition, the most suspicious hiding spot of all!

Mage Delin nodded. He had only been planning to leave because he didn’t want a battle of attrition with these two Catastrophe Level Magical Beasts, instead opting to search elsewhere.

Mage Wendel slapped his thigh.

"That’s right! The most dangerous place is the safest place!"

"That damned beast has always been cunning! Delin, we need to search this place thoroughly!"

Mage Morpheus nodded as well.

"That’s a very strong possibility."

Seeing his two old friends react this way, Mage Delin smiled and nodded.

"Very well, then. Let’s go down and take a look!"

"Since these two serpents want to block our path, let’s see if they have what it takes!"

Mage Delin quickly made his decision.

He spoke to Mage Morpheus and Mage Wendel.

"Morpheus, Wendel, you two tie them up."

"You don’t need to fight them head-on. Just hold them back and buy me a little time."

"I’ll go down and take a look myself!"

As he spoke, vast waves of Magic Power began to emanate from his body, and a Magic Shield formed around him.

"Right!"

"No problem!"

Wendel and Morpheus agreed without the slightest hesitation.

For Legendary Mages of their caliber, dealing with two High Tier Catastrophe Level Magical Beasts was troublesome, but if it was just a matter of tying them down, they had plenty of tricks up their sleeves.

HISS!

The two Frost Giant Pythons below seemed to sense the shift in the air above them.

One of them abruptly opened its massive maw. A thick, ice-blue breath attack tore through the air, carrying a terrifying cold capable of freezing all creation as it blasted toward the Ice Wind Demon Head in the sky!

"Leave it to me!"

Mage Wendel scoffed and took a step forward.

He faced the devastating breath attack head-on, neither dodging nor evading.

With a casual toss, he produced something from the wide sleeve of his Mage Robe.

It was a palm-sized, unadorned crimson Melting Furnace, which he tossed into the air.

The Melting Furnace grew with the wind, rapidly spinning and expanding in mid-air!

In an instant, it transformed into a colossal Melting Furnace a thousand meters tall, as massive as a mountain!

The surface of the furnace was covered in complex, blazing Flame Runes. A crimson light flowed across them, radiating a terrifying heat that felt powerful enough to incinerate the very sky!

"Absorb!"

Mage Wendel uttered a single word.

The massive Melting Furnace shuddered violently. Its mouth turned downward, generating an irresistible, terrifying suction.

The instant the ice-blue breath attack touched the furnace, it was swallowed whole, vanishing without a trace and failing to cause even the slightest ripple.

A flicker of astonishment appeared in the cold, vertical pupils of the Frost Giant Python below.

But before it could react, Mage Wendel pointed downward again!

"Suppress!"

The massive, floating Melting Furnace descended with the power to incinerate mountains and boil seas, crashing down directly on top of the Frost Giant Python!

The Frost Giant Python let out a terrified shriek, its enormous body twisting frantically as it tried to dodge.

But the Melting Furnace seemed to have locked space itself, making escape impossible no matter how it struggled.

BOOM!

With an earth-shattering bang, the massive Melting Furnace slammed down onto the lake’s surface, sending up monstrous waves.

The High Tier Catastrophe Level Frost Giant Python had been forcibly suppressed, trapped right inside the Melting Furnace!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Frantic banging echoed from within the Melting Furnace, causing the entire structure to vibrate violently.

But no matter how furiously the python raged, it couldn’t budge the mountain-sized furnace in the slightest.

Meanwhile, the other Frost Giant Python saw its companion trapped and flew into a rage.

Its massive body churned the lake, and it was about to launch an even more ferocious attack.

Mage Morpheus made his move.

His expression serene, he gently raised the Space Magic Ball in his hand.

HUMMM!

A brilliant silver light burst from the Magic Ball.

Mage Morpheus stretched out his other hand and made a slicing motion through the air toward the rampaging python below.

"Space Rift."

Instantly!

Hundreds of incredibly fine yet supremely sharp silver lines materialized out of thin air, surrounding the Frost Giant Python.

The lines crisscrossed, forming a massive cage.

In a flash, the Frost Giant Python, along with the surrounding water and even space itself, was sliced by these silver lines into a multitude of irregular cubes.

Within seconds, the Frost Giant Python was trapped inside these "shards" created by the lines of the Space Rift. No matter how it moved, it could only writhe within its own tiny parcel of space, completely unable to touch any adjacent fragment.

The space around it had become like a disassembled jigsaw puzzle.

Though monstrously powerful, the Frost Giant Python was now partitioned into countless independent shards of space, unable to move an inch!

One moved to suppress, the other to divide.

With a single move each, the two Legendary Mages had utterly subdued the two once-imperious, High Tier Catastrophe Level Magical Beasts!

Seeing this, Mage Delin hesitated no longer.

He glanced at Raylo.

"You stay here. Provide support for them."

With that, he transformed into a streak of light and plunged into the dark, bottomless waters.

High in the air, the standoff between the two Legendary Mages and the two High Tier Catastrophe Level giant pythons continued.

Mage Wendel’s Melting Furnace suppressed one of them. It remained as steady as a mountain no matter how the beast charged against it, emitting waves of dull, heavy thuds.

Mage Morpheus’s Space Cage, meanwhile, kept the other python diced into countless fragments of space, rendering it immobile and able to do nothing but let out impotent hisses.

The seconds ticked by.

Standing on the back of the Ice Wind Demon Head, Raylo kept his gaze fixed on the deep, dark waters below.

Mage Delin had been down there for some time now.

Raylo felt a sense of unease creeping in.

Mage Delin had gone to search for traces of the Hydra, but since the lake blocked Spiritual Power, there was no telling what might be hidden below.

Just then.

SPLASH!

A column of water erupted from the lake’s surface as Mage Delin’s figure shot into the sky, landing back on the Ice Wind Demon Head.

His expression was grim.

"Senior, what did you find?"

Raylo immediately stepped forward and asked.

Wendel and Morpheus temporarily eased their suppression of the giant pythons, turning their attention toward him.

"There’s definitely something wrong down there."

Mage Delin’s voice carried a distinct chill.

He glanced down at the two still-struggling Frost Giant Pythons, his eyes growing sharp.

"Stop playing games with them."

"Go all out. Let’s get rid of these two watchdogs first!"

"Then, we’ll go down together!"

At these words, the expressions of both Mage Wendel and Mage Morpheus turned serious.

For Mage Delin to say they should "go down together," the situation at the bottom of the lake was clearly even more perilous than they had imagined.
