Getting Stronger By Fighting
Chapter 1116 - 1114: Avenge Past Humiliation
However, just as Wang Zhan was about to leave, the Fire Qilin suddenly grabbed Wang Zhan’s wrist and glanced in the direction of the crowd. Then he spoke calmly, "There are people you know inside, namely Zhao Feiyu and Li Du who left earlier. They’re not in good shape right now. Are you really going to leave?"
After all, the Fire Qilin has the physique of a demonic beast. Combined with a longer contact time with Zhao Feiyu and Li Du, he is quite familiar with their scent. So, by merely twitching his nose, he had already identified them.
Upon hearing this, Wang Zhan immediately stopped in his tracks. Actually, Zhao Feiyu and Li Du’s departure was understandable, so he never blamed them. For even Wang Zhan himself was unsure if he could come out unscathed from those ruins. Therefore, even if they really left, it wouldn’t be a problem for him.
However, the two had once followed him loyally into the ruins, causing all the trouble. But Wang Zhan had benefited greatly from the ruins too. Both emotionally and logically, he couldn’t just stand by and watch.
With a cold smile curling at the corners of his mouth, Wang Zhan straightforwardly said, "These two guys really love causing trouble. The last time I saw Zhao Feiyu, he was under siege. If the Dragon Clan hadn’t showed up in time, even I would have been in a bind—and all because of this guy, always up to mischief."
"Alright, I’ll handle what’s coming up. You guys wait here quietly for a bit. After I finish dealing with things over there, I’ll come back and meet up with you immediately."
Although Wang Zhan no longer held Poseidon’s Trident, everyone in the sea domain was well aware of the connection between Wang Zhan and the Dragon Clan, and naturally dared not offend Wang Zhan lightly. So they all wanted to maintain a good relationship with Wang Zhan. As soon as he appears, it’s believed everyone would relent and not continue to trouble Zhao Feiyu and Li Du.
Having thought everything through, Wang Zhan was prepared to leave.
But the Sword Spirit and the others always followed him closely, and it was the Hexagonal Golden Snake who first spoke, "This matter may not be something you can solve on your own, because it concerns all of us. I thought those two little guys had really left, but it seems they still have a sense of loyalty."
Hearing this, Wang Zhan and the others showed confusion, as they clearly didn’t understand what the Hexagonal Golden Snake meant.
The Hexagonal Golden Snake continued, "Everyone currently fighting those two entered the ruins that day. Do you remember the day I was going through tribulations? When you helped me fend off the Heavenly Thunderbolt, a group of fellows rushed into the ruins, clearly to exploit the situation. I originally intended to settle old scores with them, but now that I hear you have urgent matters, naturally, I need to accompany you first, and then deal with them later in the sea domain."
"I never thought Li Du and Zhao Feiyu would gather them together. I’m sure their aim is the same as ours: to restore honor and avenge that day!"
Upon hearing this, a warm feeling surged in Wang Zhan’s heart. It must be said, these two are indeed loyal. They probably vented all their anger on this group of people. But what made Wang Zhan find it amusing was that, given their strength, how could they possibly face the others?
If Wang Zhan and the others hadn’t arrived in time, surely they would only find corpses to collect—if they could find any bodies at all.
The Sword Spirit and the Fire Qilin exchanged glances, both wearing an awkward expression. They initially misunderstood Li Du and Zhao Feiyu, thinking they had left without regard for Wang Zhan.
Who would have thought they came out to avenge Wang Zhan, leaving everyone feeling inferior.
In conversation, they had already reached the battlefield. Looking around, Li Du and Zhao Feiyu were forced to a desperate situation, standing amidst the crowd in a very sorry state. But even so, they never surrendered, continuing to coldly gaze at those around them.
The onlookers were already crimson with battle rage and failed to notice the arrival of Wang Zhan and others. One person pointed at Li Du and Zhao Feiyu, stating, "Why waste words on them? They’re just two useless losers trying to seek revenge on us! It’s laughable. Everyone, let’s team up and quickly finish them off before they cause more trouble!"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
However, the corners of Zhao Feiyu’s mouth formed a cold smile as he wiped the blood from them. His gaze fell on Li Du, and with helplessness, he said, "Sorry, I wanted to get justice for us and give Wang Zhan an explanation. But I never thought this group would be far stronger than us. It looks like we won’t leave here unscathed today..."
"Why waste words here? It’s not just your problem, it’s mine too." Li Du said lightly, "Their strength isn’t actually better than ours, just that they have the numbers. At worst, we’ll fight with all we’ve got and take as many with us as we can; it wouldn’t be a loss!"
"Alright!"
Zhao Feiyu nodded heavily and grinned.
Actually, Li Du had his own little plan. He just wanted to scare the few people in front of them to prevent any reckless actions. If they were to learn of their desperation, the onlookers would surely avoid charging at them recklessly and would hold back in a fight, because if Li Du and Zhao Feiyu were pushed too far, they’d most definitely take down a small number with them—and no one wanted to be among that small number.
But just as Zhao Feiyu and Li Du were about to make a move, applause erupted from the crowd. Everyone’s gazes swiftly converged on the source, and soon settled on the person behind it.
As they saw the person and those behind him clearly, the crowd’s expressions turned grim, instinctively taking a few steps back, no longer daring to engage Zhao Feiyu and Li Du.
Zhao Feiyu and Li Du exchanged a glance, as if not believing their eyes—especially Zhao Feiyu who rushed to Wang Zhan, exclaiming in shock, "Weren’t you trapped in that space? How have you managed to leave so soon? And you all seem unaffected. Did you somehow defeat the Spirit Devouring Beast?"
But that was impossible; even with Wang Zhan’s formidable power, how could they be a match for the Spirit Devouring Beast?
At this point, Li Du also looked to Wang Zhan, evidently waiting for his response.
With a faint smile, Wang Zhan patted the shoulders of Zhao Feiyu and Li Du before calmly explaining, "Perhaps I’m blessed. During the critical moment, I encountered the Flowing Light Venerable. If it weren’t for his help, I might not be here right now. Fortunately, everything’s resolved satisfactorily."
"But I didn’t expect you two to start trouble in the sea domain so soon after leaving me. Isn’t this just adding unnecessary complications? Had we not arrived in time, do you know the situation you two would be in today?"
Actually, Wang Zhan was worried about the two in front of him, which is why he spoke so sternly.
The two exchanged glances and laughed.
Zhao Feiyu patted his chest, saying, "We couldn’t get you out of that space, so this was the only thing we could do. Naturally, we need to help you deal with all these people to give you an explanation. We can’t let you die unjustly, even if these people aren’t the masterminds, they are still despicable!"
Upon hearing this, the onlookers exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions darkening further.
They didn’t fear Wang Zhan and the three, but the trio led by the Hexagonal Golden Snake behind him was terrifyingly powerful—far beyond anyone present, even if they all joined forces.
Wang Zhan narrowed his eyes, choosing not to speak further with Zhao Feiyu and Li Du. Instead, his gaze landed on the gathering crowd, saying flatly, "I intended to settle old scores with them anyway. Thankfully, you gathered them. Today, we’ll make sure everything is accounted for. Mistakes entail consequences."
As he spoke, Wang Zhan approached the first person who had spoken. It was this person who had been leading the conversation. But as Wang Zhan neared, the person’s face paled significantly, clenching his teeth as his breathing grew hurried. He instinctively said, "Mr. Wang, this is a misunderstanding. We didn’t intend to cause you trouble, we were only targeting the Hexagonal Golden Snake. Once it leaves the sea domain, it would spell disaster on the Star War Battlefield."
The crowd chimed in agreement.
Wang Zhan’s gaze, however, turned to the Hexagonal Golden Snake, smiling as he remarked, "I never thought, you’re this frightening?"
