Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!

Chapter 775 - 775: Out of The Hole

The air was damp and heavy, filled with the scent of wet earth and moss.

Wuhan stepped carefully into the narrow tunnel, the sound of his footsteps muffled by the thick layer of roots and stone beneath his feet.

A wisp of red flame floated before him, producing crackling noises as if it was burning something in the air.

The dim green light from the glowing moss was overwhelmed by the warm glow of the flame, casting soft shadows along the curved walls and the faces of the people present in the narrow passage.

Behind him walked Sylvheriel, her pale features calm but alert. She should have been the one leading the group in the front, but she stayed close to Captain Black Sword, whose sharp sheathed blade rested on his back, his sharp eyes scanning the room very closely.

The remaining seven soldiers formed a tight group behind them, quiet and focused.

They followed the trio in the front, tracing their steps without straying away even for a second.

The entrance to the hidden passage had been buried beneath the roots of a massive ancient tree. Without Sylvheriel’s knowledge, they would have walked right past it.

Wuhan turned slightly to look at her. “You’re sure this leads to the capital?”

He did not want to waste any time while everyone out there was looking for them, not actively. He was afraid that the young elf was merely relying on guesses and was leading them on a whim.

Fortunately for him, that was not the case… Well, maybe in this scenario.

Sylvheriel nodded. “Yes. It’s one of the old Elven passageways. When I was a child, I used to run around this area using them. I may not know about the ones on other sides of the continent, but I am sure about this one.”

“Let’s hope this one hasn’t collapsed on the other side, forcing us to retreat and choose another way.” Wuhan muttered.

They moved deeper, the tunnel sloping downward.

Thick roots jutted from the ceiling and walls, some pulsing faintly with natural energy. Moisture dripped from above, and puddles formed where the path dipped.

The air was cool and still.

At one point, the tunnel split in two.

Black Sword crouched and examined the ground. “Someone’s been here,” he said quietly. “Not recently—but definitely someone.”

Wuhan knelt beside him, brushing his hand over a faint trail in the dust. The marks were too light for beasts.

“Could it be there are still elves who had not been captured or slain by the cult… or could it be someone else?” Wuhan’s words lingered in the air, making the elven priestess tense a little, her hands clenched on the side. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself, trying her best to look calm. “We will turn left from here.”

Wuhan looked back and nodded before standing; the group continued on.

The tunnel widened the farther they went.

In some areas, the ceiling rose high above, covered in dangling roots.

They passed old Elven rest stations—stone benches, carvings, and even a forgotten shrine glowing faintly in a side chamber.

It was a small stone tablet the size of a small child placed in the middle of an altar. On the stone slab, the image of a tree could be seen, and around it several sparkling lights could be seen flying around.

Sylvheriel paused there briefly, a strange expression on her face, but said nothing.

Suddenly, a sharp crack echoed behind them.

Everyone froze. Weapons were drawn instantly.

But their panic had been for nothing.

It had only been a root that had collapsed behind them, sealing part of the path with debris. No enemies. No danger. But still, everyone was on edge.

“This place feels wrong,” one of the guards muttered in a shaky voice, hand on his sword.

Black Sword’s voice was low. “Places that forget the sun… usually remember the dead.”

Despite the unease, the group pressed forward under their emperor’s command.

Time flew by under the ground as the group moved forward on the jagged path. Only to stop once they had arrived in the middle of a clearing.

Wuhan looked ahead and saw piles of bones gathered in the corner and narrowed his eyes a little. From the looks of it, the skeleton seemed to belong to spirit beasts and not elves.

‘These must have gathered on with time as the elves stopped here to eat and rest.’ Wuhan thought, recalling what the elven woman had told them. These passages were not just used in times of peril, but some elves even liked to move around under the ground when they wanted to be sneaky.

Forcing himself not to imagine the kind of things they would have done in this place, Wuhan waved his hand to command the flame to sweep the floor like a gust of wind.

The flames crackled as they swept the ground like a sweeping mop, burning away any sort of bacteria or anything unhygienic that had stayed attached to the soil.

He then allowed everyone to relax. He wanted them to be ready for anything once they were outside, and for that he needed to let them rest a little, and the hidden passage was not as small as it seemed.

The group spent nearly a week inside the passage, winding through the depths of the earth. The path was long, twisted, and filled with dangers.

Sometimes, someone would step on an unknown, well-disguised trap and would have to deal with its effects.

Captain Black Sword took the lead through most of these hazards, his instincts sharp and reactions quicker than any spirit tool. Sylvheriel did her best to guide them, though more than once she had to admit she didn’t remember the exact way, leaving Wuhan to make judgment calls on the spot.

Still, somehow, they endured.

On the seventh day, a faint shift in the air greeted them—cool wind, fresh with the scent of trees and open sky. The cramped, root-choked tunnel finally widened and sloped upward, light trickling in from cracks above. The end was near.

Wuhan saw the bright sunlight on the other side of the secret opening and paused for a while.

For some reason, a small bad feeling gnawed at his heart. He felt like something was not alright on the other side.

He had no idea what the source of this feeling was, but he only stopped for a second before leading the group to step out from the other side.
