Chapter 312: Chapter 132: Your Dreamscape, Even a Witch Like Me Finds It Indecent
Zhu Li’s cheeks were flushed and her eyes were hazy. She was clearly a little tipsy.
She produced a white silk stocking from somewhere and, right in front of Zhao Ci, slipped it onto her smooth calf.
"Well then, I’m going to start now!"
"..."
Just as Zhao Ci was about to get carried away again...
His head suddenly started to buzz.
He felt as if his eardrums were a pair of busted drums being frantically beaten.
It felt like something was trying to drill into his head.
He didn’t know what was happening.
But for some reason, he felt a wave of panic.
"Boss, what’s wrong?"
"I’m fine!"
The buzzing only lasted for a moment before fading away, as if it had never been there at all.
Zhao Ci’s head cleared. He rubbed Zhu Li’s soft little hands and grinned. "Let’s continue!"
But just then...
A jarring ringtone suddenly blared: "Ouch! What’re you doing! Squeak, squeak..."
An ear-piercing ringtone blared.
Zhao Ci’s heart sank. He snatched his phone. "Hey! Old Feng, what’s wrong?"
Feng Kucha’s voice was frantic. "Old Zhao! This is bad! Your wife’s back early! She said she couldn’t find you at home, so she came to my place for a surprise inspection. She took my phone so I couldn’t contact you. Lucky I have a burner. You’re on your own, man! Gotta go!" BEEP BEEP BEEP...
Zhao Ci: "..."
Zhu Li pouted. "Boss! You’re getting dressed already?"
"Yeah! Some other time!"
"Hey, you—"
"Mwah!"
"..."
Zhao Ci was in a total panic. He shoved the door open and rushed out.
But he found that this wasn’t a foot massage parlor at all. It was a well-furnished, three-bedroom apartment. The room he had just been in seemed to be a specially designed theme room.
’Uh...’
He glanced back and saw Zhu Li leaning against the doorframe, giving him a wounded look.
It was as if she were saying: ’I hate that you’re into such kinky games, but I hate it even more when you stop halfway.’
Zhao Ci: "..."
He forced a grin. "My life’s on the line. I’m outta here!"
And then.
He ran downstairs, hopped in his Cadillac, and floored it.
As he sped along, he tried to figure out a plan.
He sniffed himself. The scent of perfume clung to him, impossible to get rid of.
’How the hell am I supposed to explain this?’
He didn’t know where his wife was, but he had a feeling he was about to be busted.
’Screw it.’
Zhao Ci glanced ahead and saw a group of old men diving off the river-spanning bridge.
A sudden idea struck him. He slammed on the brakes, pulled over, stripped off his clothes, clambered over the guardrail, and leaped, drawing a chorus of shocked cries from below.
A long while later.
He swam to the riverbank, looking completely wretched.
Just as he struggled ashore, he saw a stunningly beautiful and graceful young woman staring at him with a bewildered expression.
Zhao Ci managed a weak grin. "Wife..."
Gu Xiangzhu: "..."
She was a little dazed.
She never expected that the first scene she would witness upon entering Zhao Ci’s Joyful Dream would be... this.
She asked, puzzled, "What are you...?"
Zhao Ci quickly pointed to the bridge, where a line of old men in nothing but their swim trunks were preparing to jump. "I didn’t have much going on today, so I came to the bridge to do some diving with the old-timers," he explained. "Why are you back so early? Let me get my clothes on, and I’ll take you out for a feast!
"Huh? Where are my clothes?
"Crap!
"Which son of a bitch threw my clothes in the river?"
Gu Xiangzhu: "..."
As she watched Zhao Ci jump back into the river, cursing and swearing as he went to retrieve his clothes, she fell into deep thought.
’He just called me... Wife?’
’What does "wife" mean?’
’She racked her brain. It seemed that back in Luoyi, married couples sometimes addressed each other as "husband" and "wife."’
’In that case...’
’In his dream, I’m his wife?’
’Of course!’
A sliver of joy blossomed in Gu Xiangzhu’s heart.
’Strange.’
’Why am I happy about this?’
’Ah, that’s it!’
’This proves that I have completely tamed him. The happiness must be coming from a sense of accomplishment.’
’However...’
’...why is the little one’s dream like this?’
She looked up at the river-spanning bridge, a sense of shock stirring within her.
’A bridge miles long, forged entirely from steel! Such a thing actually exists in this world!’
’Even the Divine Artisans of the Yellow Sea Gongshu Clan couldn’t accomplish such a Divine Technique, could they?’
’And those shameless old men... wearing nothing but loincloths in broad daylight...’
’Even I, a Witch, find it scandalous.’
’Wait!’
’This is definitely not the Great Yu.’
’It doesn’t even seem to be anywhere in the mortal world.’
’Where in the world is this place?’
’Why is it appearing in Zhao Ci’s dream?’
’And the clothes these people are wearing are so strange. The men all have short hair.’
Gu Xiangzhu was completely baffled.
Just then.
Zhao Ci climbed ashore clutching his clothes. Still swearing, he pulled on the soaking garments, then gently took her hand. "Wife, let’s go buy some clothes first, then we’ll go get that feast!"
His movements were perfectly natural.
And ineffably intimate.
"Mm."
Gu Xiangzhu nodded. Then, as if moved by some unseen force, she leaned in and sniffed Zhao Ci, smelling only river mud.
She didn’t know why she had done that.
’It must be that in Zhao Ci’s dream, this is what I was supposed to do.’
She understood.
’This body... it’s not under my control.’
’Because this is the version of me that exists in Zhao Ci’s dream.’
’My current state... it’s like the prelude to a possession. It’s not a complete takeover. I can experience all its senses, but I cannot command the body.’
’If I want to break free from this...’
’I must resist the influence of the Joyful Dream.’
She was confident she could do it. It would be troublesome, at most. Anyone capable of creating a Paradise Gu couldn’t possibly be weak, but it was highly unlikely they were stronger than her. After all, there were only a handful of people in the world with more power than her, and those with stronger souls were even rarer.
But she had no intention of tearing the dreamscape apart just yet.
Because...
She wanted to see what this world inside Zhao Ci’s dream was truly like.
And she wanted to know why Zhao Ci was having a dream like this.
