Genshin Impact: Joining the Genius Society
Chapter 413: Herta: "Are You Sure You’re Not from the Idiot Society?"
Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Herta: "Are You Sure You’re Not from the Idiot Society?"
This simulation attracted a great deal of attention.
Screwllum was the first to arrive.
Ruan Mei came second.
Stephen had intended to log in as well, but after seeing how many people had already gathered, he quietly logged back out.
"Conclusion: a result unlike anything we’ve seen before."
Compared to previous simulations, which were all based on existing Aeons, this one tested a completely fabricated Aeon.
It was an entirely novel approach.
Although the Path of Eternity only had a single representative—the tester, Chiyo—the data she produced was remarkably promising.
"...Those horns on her head."
"Were they something she was born with?"
Ruan Mei had also become interested in the Path of Eternity.
Unfortunately, it was ultimately nothing more than a fictional construct.
There was no physical specimen she could obtain for research.
She found that rather regrettable.
"What do you think about creating something from nothing?"
Su Ran watched Chiyo inside the Simulated Universe.
A bold idea had suddenly formed in his mind.
"...Creating something from nothing?"
Herta frowned.
She questioned the idea, but since it came from Su Ran, she didn’t dismiss it outright.
The law of conservation of energy was one of the fundamental pillars of science.
Turning zero into one simply wasn’t possible.
Yet not long ago, Su Ran had built the Equivalent Exchange Machine, whose very design relied upon conservation of energy.
That meant he clearly understood the principle.
"The Aeon of Eternity is fictional."
"Everything inside the Simulated Universe is fictional."
"But..."
"What if fictional things could ascend into reality?"
"What do you think?"
Screwllum fell silent.
Ruan Mei began pondering.
Herta looked at Su Ran as though she wanted to call him a member of the Idiot Society.
You already knew the Simulated Universe was fake, yet you wanted to make fiction real?
At least respect objective reality!
If that were possible, she could simply draw a portrait of herself during the day, hand it to Su Ran, and wait for the drawing to jump out of the page.
Geniuses were people of action, not empty theorists.
Before the three of them could respond, Su Ran had already acted.
He directly altered his own existence within the simulation.
Changing himself from a mere observer into an active participant.
After witnessing the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, Chiyo’s entire demeanor had become heavy with sorrow.
She had personally experienced everything from the destruction of Cangcheng to the rebellion itself.
She had come to understand Jingliu’s hatred, her grief, and almost everything that had shaped her.
It was the first time she had ever felt such overwhelming sadness for another person.
"So..."
"This is why your sword is so cold."
Swordsmanship had always been an art of killing.
Looking down at the shattered Shard Sword in her hand, Chiyo began walking toward Yingxing.
Before she arrived, Yingxing had already suffered Jingliu’s punishment of a hundred deaths.
Yet the overwhelming vitality within his body still astonished her.
The power bestowed by the Emanator of Abundance...was truly terrifying.
Before entering the Simulated Universe, she knew almost nothing about the universe’s great factions.
But now she understood.
So... this is what an Emanator is.
Then...that being who resembled Makoto so closely...had also looked upon her.
Didn’t that make her an Emanator now as well?
Ever since receiving that glance from the figure who looked so much like Makoto, Chiyo had felt detached from the entire world.
Only after discovering Jingliu had she remained by her side, silently observing.
But now...she suddenly wanted to interfere.
For example...using this broken Shard Sword to grant Yingxing another thousand deaths.
How could a mere thousand deaths ever atone for such sins?
The simulated Yingxing had only just revived when he sensed someone approaching.
He looked at the unfamiliar woman.
Then at the familiar Shard Sword.
Infinite fear welled up inside him.
"Then..."
"Let me experience the hatred I witnessed within Jingliu."
In that instant, Yingxing felt as though the entire world had frozen.
He seemed to experience a thousand separate deaths all at once.
Yet it also felt as though one single death had stretched into eternity.
Looking at the sword piercing through his chest, Yingxing stared blankly into the sky.
Jingliu wanting to kill him...that he could understand.
But who...was this inexplicable woman?
Throughout those thousand deaths—each one as endless as eternity—he had believed his consciousness would eventually shatter.
Yet...nothing happened.
He retained the memories of every single death.
He even felt his mara had subsided somewhat.
Without the slightest trace of pity, Chiyo glanced once at the utterly broken Yingxing, then quietly turned away.
She once again resumed her role as an observer.
Never becoming part of the world, yet always capable of stepping into it.
Just as Chiyo believed she would continue observing Jingliu, time suddenly seemed to reverse itself.
She found herself back at the moment when the Emanator of Abundance, Shuhu, had invaded the Xianzhou.
The familiar battlefield.
The familiar figures.
And...
that nauseating ancient tree.
At that instant, the hatred within her heart reached its peak.
She completely understood Jingliu’s feelings.
Even though this was merely a fictional past, incapable of changing reality, she still wanted nothing more than to tear that accursed tree to pieces.
Watching from outside, the three geniuses arrived at a new conclusion regarding Chiyo’s existence.
She was...a being detached from the flow of time.
Yet, within certain limits, she could still alter reality.
So...
this was the Eternity Su Ran had designed?
Inside the simulation, Jingliu looked at the girl who had suddenly descended from the heavens, utterly bewildered.
"...Wait."
"First..."
"Take a look."
"See how similar my sword is to yours."
Staring at the revolting ancient tree, Chiyo reached out and snatched the still-intact Shard Sword from Jingliu’s hand.
Then, right before Jingliu’s eyes, she demonstrated exactly
how Su Ran had once slain an Emanator of Abundance with a single strike.
Watching the scene unfold, Jingliu felt as though someone had borrowed her body to unleash a sword strike capable of erasing time itself against the enemy that had once seemed utterly impossible to kill.
And yet...
she herself had only been standing behind, watching everything happen.
