Chapter 406: Chapter 406: The Mysterious Package Sent to Herta

As the former Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine, Kitsune Saiguu naturally maintained an excellent daily routine.

Compared to Su Ran, who preferred waking up naturally, she—despite having been far more exhausted the previous night—was up much earlier.

Bathed in the morning sunlight, she stretched lazily.

Then she noticed Jingliu sitting on the rooftop.

"When did you climb up there? Watching the sunrise?"

Why was she sitting on the roof in broad daylight?

"Probably sometime after dinner last night."

Jingliu glanced at the fully dressed Kitsune Saiguu.

Just as she’d expected, the moment those words left her mouth, Saiguu froze.

After standing there stiffly for quite some time, she cautiously asked, "So... you’ve been up there all night? You never went back to your room? Weren’t you tired?"

At that moment, she felt her brain trembling.

How did I not notice there was someone on the neighboring rooftop last night?

Don’t tell me... she saw everything?

"What else was I supposed to do?"

"My room was occupied by another woman."

"So I could only wait."

"It would’ve been rather inappropriate to walk in and ruin the mood."

Jingliu looked at the fox below with complete puzzlement.

"...Didn’t we arrange a room for you?"

Under Jingliu’s strange gaze,

Kitsune Saiguu finally couldn’t take it anymore. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

She squatted down, covering her face with both hands.

This is social death...

If she’d been the one bragging about it herself, that would’ve been one thing.

She probably would’ve become even more smug.

But now...someone had witnessed everything firsthand.

The embarrassment was unbearable.

"I’ve gotten used to staying in his room."

"I can’t get comfortable in any other empty room."

Only Su Ran’s room gave her a sense of peace.

Back then, her mara-struck condition had tormented her until she barely resembled a person.

"...Are you some kind of yandere?"

Hearing Jingliu say something like that so matter-of-factly,

Kitsune Saiguu couldn’t help wondering

whether the woman had some psychological illness.

"I might have been before."

"But now I’ve been cured."

Although she didn’t know what "yandere" meant,

Jingliu simply assumed it was another term for mara.

"Still not awake?"

"Well, that’s fine."

"We only have a month."

Jingliu glanced at the room, which remained completely silent.

She stood up, ready to begin extra training with Kamisato Ayaka.

Then she seemed to remember something.

Pausing,

she looked toward Kitsune Saiguu.

"...You didn’t drain his life force, did you?"

"Your imagination is quite something..."

Even if she was a yokai, she was still of the Hakushin bloodline—one of the righteous kind.

Someone who had stood beside the Raiden Shogun would never do the sort of thing only evil demons did.

Not long afterward, Ayaka stepped outside.

Although she had little confidence in defeating Chiyo, she still hoped Su Ran would notice her efforts.

So she’d gotten up early, washed, and prepared herself.

The moment she walked out, she saw both Kitsune Saiguu and Jingliu.

"I didn’t oversleep... did I?"

Seeing Jingliu still on the rooftop, Ayaka worried she’d kept her teacher waiting.

"Not at all."

"The timing is perfect."

"Su Ran is still asleep."

"So you’ll have even more time to receive my instruction."

As long as she stayed one step ahead,

the gap could be closed.

Jingliu grabbed Ayaka by the hand

and headed toward the Grand Narukami Shrine cafeteria.

"We’ll begin training after breakfast."

"...What a disaster."

"I really should’ve paid more attention last night."

Kitsune Saiguu let out a sigh.

Annoying as Jingliu was, there was one thing she appreciated.

Jingliu wasn’t a gossip.

Nor was she the type to use someone’s secrets as leverage.

That, at least, was something Saiguu liked about her.

Looking up at the blazing morning sun, she turned back toward her room.

"Well..."

"I’ve already gotten up."

"I’ve seen the sun."

"I’ve breathed in the fresh morning air."

"So now..."

"I’ll go back and enjoy another nap."

Normally,

she wasn’t fond of going back to sleep.

As a yokai, she didn’t require much sleep in the first place.

But today...

wasn’t exactly normal.

"Herta’s package?"

At Herta Space Station, Asta signed for a shipment on Herta’s behalf.

There was just one thing she didn’t understand.

Why hadn’t Herta had it delivered directly to the Blue Planet?

After all, she rarely came to the Space Station herself.

Once the delivery had been signed for, Asta immediately sent Herta a message, informing her that her package had arrived.

Judging by the labels, it appeared to contain clothing.

Not long afterward, one of Herta’s puppets walked over.

"I don’t remember ordering anything."

She picked up one of the boxes, looking puzzled.

Packages were piled everywhere—stacked nearly three Astas high.

When did I buy this much stuff?

She couldn’t remember making any purchases recently.

Although...her account balance had been mysteriously decreasing from time to time.

"...Did someone hack my account?"

The moment she suggested it wasn’t hers, Asta immediately wondered whether the packages might contain some kind of prank.

As for losing a bit of money, she wasn’t concerned.

Even if Herta somehow ran out, Asta herself had more than enough.

Herta casually opened one package.

Then she pulled out the clothing inside.

Asta only needed one glance.

Her face instantly turned bright red.

T-This...

Isn’t this a little too... stimulating?

So Herta likes this sort of thing...?

No, no!

Who would frame Lady Herta like this?!

After setting the garment aside, Herta immediately opened another package.

Watching from the side, Asta’s eyes grew wider and wider.

She knew perfectly well these were probably sent to embarrass Herta.

And yet...she simply couldn’t stop herself.

She wanted to see every single one.

Within moments, dozens of packages had all been opened.

The floor was now covered with every imaginable type of clothing.

"...Should we throw them away?"

Asta was now completely certain none of these belonged to Herta.

In her eyes, Herta held an extremely lofty position.

She was proud, arrogant, and brilliant.

There was no way she’d purchase things like these herself.

Someone had obviously bought them simply to humiliate her.

"Throw them away?"

Herta looked at Asta in surprise.

"Why would I do that?"

She immediately activated the teleportation device, sending every single outfit to wherever her real body currently was.

Since they’d already been delivered...she might as well try them on.
