Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Enrollment, Not Just for Show

Ji Zhixing poured the Stone Bone Genetic Potion into his mouth.

As the potion entered his stomach, his Genetic Furnace operated at full capacity, absorbing and refining the medicinal efficacy. With traces of the medicine flowing deep into his bones, he could clearly feel them undergoing a fundamental transformation. They were becoming denser. Harder.

At a certain moment, his body trembled slightly.

CRACK!

It was as if something inside him had shattered and reassembled. His bones had completely finished their transformation. At that very instant, the tendons connected to his bones and the muscles across his body underwent a chain reaction, completing their transformations simultaneously.

"I already possess the four genetic abilities: Stone Bone, Stone Tendon, Stone Muscle, and Stone Skin," he thought. "But to combine and integrate these four abilities to evolve into the four-star Boulder Physique, I still need one final step. However, this last step isn’t something that can be achieved using genetic potions. Instead, I need to comprehend it myself, or rely on the stimulation of a certain environment to accelerate this final evolution. But... even without completing this final step, my strength has grown significantly compared to before. This newfound power isn’t just an increase in defense; my base strength has also improved. And stronger base strength will directly affect my ultimate power after using the Gigantification ability."

Ji Zhixing got out of bed and stretched his body. Raising his right arm, he slowly clenched his fist. He could clearly feel the tight, powerful linkage between his bones and tendons. As he exerted slight pressure with his fingertips, his joints let out faint CLICKING sounds. He felt no pain whatsoever; instead, there was a unique sense of solidity that came with his increased bone density.

He then tried to stretch his back. The muscles between his shoulder blades shifted accordingly. It felt as though every muscle fiber had been rewoven, brimming with strength.

Ji Zhixing walked over to the window, pulled back the curtains, and gazed out at the lights of Yu City Base City. The night was as thick as ink. The lights from distant high-rises twinkled like stars, and even further away, the massive silhouette of the base city’s walls was faintly visible.

"Right now, I’m still no match for Gu Zheng," he thought. "I’m not even a match for the members of his team. But I’m catching up bit by bit. And I believe it won’t be long before I do."

He dropped the curtain, turned around, and sat back on the edge of the bed.

Starting tomorrow, he would be moving into the dormitories at Yu City University. He would no longer be commuting between home and school every day like he did in high school. At this thought, a faint sense of reluctance welled up in his heart, but it was overshadowed by his anticipation for the future. Once he entered university, he could utilize its resources to rapidly improve himself.

The next morning.

Ji Zhixing woke up just as the sky was beginning to lighten. He had slept very soundly the night before. Perhaps because he had unlocked three genetic abilities, he felt completely energized upon waking. After a brief wash, he walked out of his room.

The aroma of food was already drifting from the kitchen. Zhang Yulan, wearing an apron, was busy at the stove.

"Zhixing, you’re up? Go sit down, breakfast will be ready in a minute," Zhang Yulan said without turning her head.

Ji Zhixing gave a sound of acknowledgment and went to sit at the dining table. Ji Guodong was already sitting there, holding a copy of the base city’s morning paper.

"That Sky Tyrant Dragon Beast that appeared near our Yu City Base City a while ago headed to Yun City Base City a few days ago." Seeing him approach, Ji Guodong set the newspaper down.

"It went to Yun City Base City?" Ji Zhixing revealed a look of surprise. "What is that Sky Tyrant Dragon Beast up to? Hasn’t anyone dealt with it after all this time?"

"Who knows what an existence of that level wants to do?" Ji Guodong shook his head.

"Let’s stop talking about this." At that moment, Zhang Yulan brought the food over. "Zhixing needs to head to school early later."

Ji Zhixing smiled, picked up a steamed bun, and started eating. After finishing his meal, accompanied by his parents and younger sister, he left Tingyu Garden and hailed a taxi.

"Zhixing, once you go to Yu City University, you have to come back when you have time!" Ji Zhiyu tugged at his clothes before he got into the car.

"Don’t worry, I’ll come back whenever I have time," Ji Zhixing smiled at his sister.

Ji Guodong and Zhang Yulan stood to the side, a hint of worry in their eyes. This time, Ji Zhixing would be boarding at Yu City Genetic University instead of coming home every day like before.

"Dad, Mom, don’t worry either. I’m not a kid anymore; I can take care of myself," Ji Zhixing smiled at the two of them. He then got into the taxi and headed toward Yu City University.

"Yu City University..." Ji Zhixing muttered in his heart while in the car. Before awakening his past life’s memories, Yu City University had been an unattainable existence to him. But now, he was also a member of Yu City University.

"We’re here." The car traversed half the base city and stopped in front of Yu City University.

Ji Zhixing paid and got out. The driver watched his departing figure with a wave of envy. It went without saying what Ji Zhixing’s purpose was for coming to Yu City University today.

"So many people," Ji Zhixing thought. After stepping out, he glanced around and noticed that the number of freshmen at Yu City University today was significantly higher. A large crowd had gathered, particularly around the school gates.

His gaze swept over the crowd, and to his surprise, he spotted Qi Xingzhou, Yu Zhirou, and their group. Huang Yu was also with them.

"Ji Zhixing? Why are you here?" Just then, Huang Yu also saw him and called out in surprise. His shout was loud, drawing the attention of quite a few people nearby. Yu Zhirou, Qi Xingzhou, and the others all turned their heads.

"I’m here to enroll too." Ji Zhixing took out his student ID and waved it in front of Huang Yu.

"You’re also here to enroll? Did you really evolve your Three-inch Stone Monkey gene?" Seeing the student ID in Ji Zhixing’s hand, Huang Yu’s mouth fell open in astonishment, his face full of disbelief.

Although he had recently seen the video of Ji Zhixing dominating the arena and knew it was genuinely possible for him to evolve his gene, he hadn’t expected it to happen so fast. It had only been a few days, yet Ji Zhixing had already completed his genetic evolution? And he was actually enrolling in Yu City University with him today?

Ji Zhixing smiled and nodded.

Not far away, Qi Xingzhou and Yu Zhirou were also stunned by this scene. If Huang Yu hadn’t anticipated Ji Zhixing enrolling in Yu City University, the two of them expected it even less.

Ji Zhixing cast a glance at the others but didn’t say anything.

"I won’t chat with you for now. I’m going to the dorms first, we’ll talk later," Ji Zhixing told Huang Yu.

"Oh... alright, catch you later." Huang Yu, still reeling from the shock, nodded subconsciously.

Ji Zhixing then walked straight into Yu City University.

Behind him, Huang Yu turned his head, looked at Yu Zhirou, and after a moment of hesitation, asked, "Zhirou, is there some misunderstanding between you and Ji Zhixing?"

He had sensed something was off earlier. After all, his relationship with both Yu Zhirou and Ji Zhixing had been decent before. But since an unknown point in time, Yu Zhirou and Ji Zhixing didn’t even greet each other when they met.

"There is no misunderstanding." Yu Zhirou’s face turned slightly pale, her voice carrying a hint of stiffness.

What stood between her and Ji Zhixing was not a misunderstanding. She had truly and utterly offended him. Originally, she thought that by integrating a Tier-2 gene and entering Yu City University, she would no longer be on the same level as Ji Zhixing. Little did she expect that Ji Zhixing would actually evolve his gene and enter Yu City University right alongside her.

She took a deep breath, trying her best to calm down as she pondered how she would face Ji Zhixing in the future.

"What’s going on?" Qi Yue, standing to the side, was also taken aback. "Isn’t that Ji Zhixing the joke you guys were talking about before? Did he really evolve his gene?"

A few days ago, when she came to Yu City University with Qi Xingzhou, she had heard him describe the boy that way. Yet, in just a matter of days, this Ji Zhixing had managed to evolve his gene?

Hearing this, the corner of Qi Xingzhou’s mouth twitched, but he didn’t reply. He couldn’t figure it out either. How did Ji Zhixing, whom he had previously regarded as trash, suddenly end up at Yu City University and become his classmate again?

"I’ll go to the dormitory first," Ji Zhixing thought. Ignoring what his former classmates might be thinking, he headed straight for the dormitory area after entering Yu City University.

In the past, those people believed they were no longer on the same level as him. Whenever they interacted with him, they exuded a sense of superiority. But from now on, their dynamic was going to reverse.

"If nothing unexpected happens, Gu Zheng and those geniuses who integrated Tier-4 genes should all be living over there," Ji Zhixing thought. Upon arriving at the dormitory area, he cast a glance toward the villa district on the other side. However, he didn’t linger on the sight. After a single look, he retracted his gaze and stepped into the dormitory building.

Once inside, he walked straight toward his dorm room, Room 212.

In the corridor, several freshmen who had seen him once before experienced subtle changes in their expressions upon noticing him. A few even directly avoided him as he approached. Furthermore, not a single person spoke to him.

Seeing this, Ji Zhixing frowned slightly.

"It seems the news of me offending Gu Zheng has spread," he mused. "But it doesn’t matter if it has. With Gu Zheng’s threat hanging over me, no matter who I team up with, I’ll only drag them down. In that case, I might as well enter the secret realm alone this time."

With these thoughts in mind, he arrived in front of Room 212 and tried to push the door open, only to find it wouldn’t budge. Frowning, Ji Zhixing took out his key and unlocked the door.

Upon opening the door and stepping inside, he discovered that his dorm room was completely empty. The luggage belonging to Ren Pingzhi, Zhao Hai, and Feng Yan had entirely vanished. Only the free luggage issued to him by the school lay quietly on his bed.

"They all left?" Ji Zhixing thought in surprise. Then, he shook his head.

He didn’t know where the three of them had gone, but he figured they had most likely applied to change dorms.

"The deterrence of a genius who integrated a Tier-4 gene is truly no joke," Ji Zhixing sneered inwardly. He knew that just because he wasn’t afraid of Gu Zheng, it didn’t mean others weren’t either.
