Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Saw It Upon Going Out

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Ji Zhixing’s family was eating dinner when a sudden knocking echoed from the front door.

The door trembled as if someone was pounding it like a drum.

Ji Zhixing paused, his chopsticks hovering in the air as his brows knit together.

This kind of knocking carried an overbearing arrogance. They didn’t sound like guests; they sounded like an angry mob coming to demand an explanation.

He set down his chopsticks. As he stood up, his knuckles cracked slightly as he clenched his fists.

He thought, "I just completed my genetic evolution! I just got accepted into Yu City University! I want to see which blind fool is asking for trouble!"

Opening the door, he saw the Wang family standing outside. Beside them were two unfamiliar young men.

"What is it?" Ji Zhixing asked, his tone cold.

"Ji Zhixing..." A smug smirk tugged at the corners of Wang Yan’s mouth as he began to speak.

Before he could finish, the tall young man beside him got a clear look at who was standing in the doorway. The youth’s pupils shrank, and his face instantly drained of color.

It was the look of someone who had just realized they provoked something they shouldn’t have.

He grabbed Wang Yan’s arm with such force that Wang Yan stumbled.

"I’m sorry to bother you," the young man swallowed hard and explained. "I’m a freshman at Yu City University this year, Song Hui. I just left the campus today when my brother dragged me over here.

"He told me his classmate’s family was being bullied by the downstairs neighbors. I felt something was off and suspected he was being deceived, so I came to check out the situation."

"Song Hui!" the other young man beside him exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief.

The Wang family was also rooted to the spot, staring at Song Hui in astonishment.

Ji Zhixing looked at him. "Hello. I’m also a freshman at Yu City University this year. My name is Ji Zhixing."

"I know, I know! I saw you on the field at Yu City University today, Brother Ji. When you used your gigantification ability, it really gave me a shock," Song Hui said repeatedly.

Ji Zhixing nodded in realization, understanding exactly what was going on.

"A freshman at Yu City University?" The Wang family stared at Ji Zhixing in absolute disbelief.

Ji Zhixing ignored the Wang family and simply gave Song Hui a brief rundown of what had actually happened.

"So that’s how it is!" After hearing the explanation, Song Hui glared furiously at the Wang family. "Today, I’ve finally seen what it means for the villain to play the victim. After everything you’ve done, you still dared to deceive my brother? You had him call me here for help?

"And you," he snapped, turning his glare to his younger brother, Song Army. "You can’t even tell right from wrong! I’ll let it slide while we’re here, but just wait until we get home. Let’s see how I deal with you!

"Furthermore, when you make friends in the future, you need to open your eyes and see what kind of people they are. Don’t just call any piece of trash a friend!"

After finishing his tirade, he apologized to Ji Zhixing once more, grabbed Song Army, and turned to leave.

Why wouldn’t he leave? He had no desire to stay and catch a beating from Ji Zhixing.

Seeing the two leave, the Wang family stood in a daze. Even now, they hadn’t fully processed what had just happened.

Ji Zhixing didn’t speak.

He simply took a single step forward.

At that movement, Wang Yan’s parents instinctively shrank back half a pace.

Then, Ji Zhixing reached out and unhurriedly grabbed Wang Yan by the collar, hoisting him up like a helpless chicken.

"That incident from last time," Ji Zhixing said, his voice so soft he seemed to be murmuring to himself. "Did you think it was already over?"

THUD!

Wang Yan’s head slammed into the wall, the heavy impact echoing through the hallway.

This time, there was only one strike.

After that single blow, Ji Zhixing released his grip. Wang Yan slumped limply to the floor, his eyes unfocused and his mouth slightly open, panting like a fish tossed on the shore.

"And you two!"

Ji Zhixing didn’t pause. He reached out again, this time grabbing Wang Henxin.

THUD!

Following another heavy crash, he reached over and hoisted up the woman from upstairs.

A family ought to be treated equally, after all.

THUD!

Ignoring the woman’s terrified gaze, he slammed her against the wall with the same resounding force.

"This is the last time! If there’s a next time, I’ll make you realize the true meaning of regret!"

Ji Zhixing looked down at the three of them, his gaze as dead and calm as if he were looking at three corpses.

With that, he slammed the door shut with a loud BANG.

The noise wasn’t overly heavy, but it still made all three members of the Wang family flinch.

There was nothing else to be done. They were within the base city; this was the furthest he could go.

Wang Yan’s mother was deathly pale, her hands trembling uncontrollably. She looked at the swelling lump on her son’s head, shaking with heartache, yet she didn’t dare make a sound.

The expression on Wang Yan’s father’s face was even uglier. His face was livid, his lips pressed into a thin line, and his eyes held a mixture of fury and terror.

They didn’t dare linger. Stumbling pathetically, they supported Wang Yan and hurried upstairs, fleeing as if their lives depended on it.

They wondered how Ji Zhixing had become a student at Yu City University. Did his genes actually evolve? But how could that be possible?

"Zhixing, that was so satisfying!"

Behind the closed door, Zhiyu watched through the peephole as the Wang family scrambled away, her face flushed with excitement.

She had been thoroughly sick of the Wang family for a long time. Seeing them in such a pathetic state just now made her incredibly happy.

"I believe that after today’s lesson, they won’t pull any more stunts in the future," Ji Zhixing said with a smile.

Ji Guodong and Zhang Yulan nodded in agreement.

The Wang family had been truly detestable before, but after this, they all knew those neighbors would never act the same again. In fact, they would probably take a detour whenever they saw the Ji family from now on.

As for Ji Zhixing being a bit heavy-handed... it meant absolutely nothing to them.

After all, he hadn’t killed or crippled anyone. Even if Wang Yan reported it to the authorities, the worst consequence would be paying a small fine.

"Dad, Mom, you guys keep chatting. I’m going to cultivate," he told his parents.

After finishing dinner and chatting in the living room for a while, Ji Zhixing returned to his bedroom.

Back in his room, he took a moment to regulate his breathing before taking out a bottle of Source Power Genetic Potion. Popping the cork, he tilted his head back and downed it.

As the potion hit his stomach, it transformed into a warm current of air that coursed through his body. He sat cross-legged and activated his Genetic Furnace, beginning to refine the potion’s energy.

"I need to break through to Tier Two as soon as possible. Only when my strength is high will people speak to me properly, and I can quickly resolve this kind of petty garbage," he thought as he refined the medicinal power. "Once I break through to Tier Two, my strength will experience a qualitative leap, and making money will be much faster.

"I hope these twenty bottles of potions will be enough. If not, I’ll have to buy more, and that’ll be another huge expense."

He calmed his mind and focused his attention entirely on the Genetic Furnace inside him.

He currently had over a million genetic coins, but he was saving that fortune to use on his Second Gene.

In his consciousness, the Eight Trigrams Map of the furnace slowly rotated, refining and absorbing the energy from the Source Power Potion bit by bit, converting it into his own strength.

Time trickled by, and the sky outside the window gradually darkened.

The next morning, sunlight spilled through the curtains into the room.

Ji Zhixing opened his eyes. Sensing the increased Source Power within his body, he nodded in satisfaction.

After a night of cultivation, he had refined three bottles of potion, bringing himself one step closer to Tier Two.

He got up, washed, and ate breakfast. "Dad, Mom, I’m heading out for a bit. I might be back late," he told them.

"Be careful," Zhang Yulan reminded him.

She didn’t press for details. Now that Ji Zhixing was a Genetic Cultivator and had entered Yu City University, he was a full-grown adult in her eyes.

"Got it," Ji Zhixing replied with a nod, turning to leave.

He hailed a car and headed toward the East Gate of Yu City Base City.

Sitting in the car, he watched the streetscape blur past the window. He thought, "If I can successfully fuse my Second Gene before school starts, even if its initial ability isn’t strong, it’ll still boost my competitiveness in the Blood Beast Secret Realm. And if I can rapidly evolve the Second Gene to Tier Two, I can directly enter the elite class and earn a bonus of one million genetic coins."

There were two ways he could acquire and fuse a Second Gene.

The first was to visit the gene bank in Yu City Base City. However, the gene bank only opened once a month. It wasn’t time yet, and it certainly wouldn’t be opened exclusively for him.

"Fortunately, the Second Gene I plan to fuse is very common and not difficult to obtain," he reasoned internally. "Although it’s dangerous outside the base, I won’t go too far. As long as I just look around the vicinity, it shouldn’t be a big problem."

The car traversed half the base city, the scenery on both sides of the street shifting constantly.

Soon, they arrived at the East Gate of Yu City Base City.

He stepped out and observed the area with curiosity.

It was bustling. Genetic Cultivators were everywhere, and numerous shops selling items related to their trade lined the streets.

However, since it was morning, many Genetic Cultivators were busy preparing to head out on excursions.

"Ji Zhixing?"

A familiar voice suddenly called out from behind him just as he was getting ready to exit the city.

He turned his head and realized it was Ren Pingzhi, Zhao Hai, and Feng Yan—the three guys he had just met the day before.

"It really is you!" The trio walked over, their faces filled with pleasant surprise.

"What a coincidence. What brings you guys here?" Ji Zhixing asked curiously.

"School hasn’t started yet, and it’s boring on campus, so we came over to head out of the city for some training," Ren Pingzhi said with a smile. "What about you? Are you leaving the city too?"

Ji Zhixing nodded. "I’m just planning to take a look nearby. I’m not going too far."

"That’s great!" Ren Pingzhi exclaimed happily. "In that case, let’s team up. We aren’t planning to go too far either."

"Sounds good," Ji Zhixing agreed with a nod.

Inwardly, he felt a bit helpless. He hadn’t planned on forming a team at all and genuinely just wanted to scout the nearby area. But since Ren Pingzhi had offered, he could only accept. After all, the few of them would be sharing a dorm soon; it wouldn’t be good to act too aloof.

"Let’s go. We’ll head out together," Zhao Hai said with a laugh. "We used to attend Yu City Middle School and have been around this area a few times, so we’re pretty familiar with it."

With the plan settled, the four of them departed the base city together.

The city gates were teeming with people. There were returning Cultivators still stained with blood, and outgoing squads checking their gear with solemn expressions.

The four followed the flow of traffic out the gates. Instead of continuing straight down the main road, they veered off onto a beaten dirt path to the side.

After walking for a few miles, the surrounding landscape gradually grew desolate.

The towering city walls receded further behind them, replaced by rolling wilderness.

The air was thick with a mixture of dirt and a faint bloody stench. Occasional bestial roars echoed from the distance, naturally inspiring caution.

"This is the spot we usually come to. Generally, only Tier One Genetic Beasts roam here. When we were at Yu City Middle School, our teachers led us here a few times," Ren Pingzhi explained, lowering his voice slightly. "But we still can’t be careless. Occasionally, a Tier Two Genetic Beast will wander over."

"Yeah, it’s better to be safe than sorry," Zhao Hai agreed, his voice muffled and deep.

With his tall, burly build, he walked at the very front, acting as a human shield like a solid wall.

Feng Yan, meanwhile, observed their surroundings with vigilance. His short, stout frame was slightly hunched, ready to react to any sudden danger.

Ji Zhixing nodded. His gaze followed a small river flowing through the area and drifted into the distance.

"Huh?"

Suddenly, his heart gave a slight jolt. Right there by the edge of the river, he spotted the exact target he had been looking for.
