Genetic Evolution: Mythic Tier from the Rock Monkey Gene
Chapter 6: 72% Compatibility, Three-inch Stone Monkey
Chapter 6: Chapter 6: 72% Compatibility, Three-inch Stone Monkey
Ji Zhixing stopped in front of a metal console and activated the Genetic Acupoint within his body.
BOOM!
The moment he activated his Genetic Acupoint, he froze completely.
For the longest time, one of the two Genetic Acupoints inside his body would light up brighter than the other, while the second one had always shown a faint response. But at this very moment, that previously weak Genetic Acupoint suddenly erupted with a brilliant burst of light.
The light was blazing, instantly illuminating the entire interior of the Genetic Acupoint and occupying more than seventy percent of its space.
"This..." Ji Zhixing’s pupils contracted slightly, and his heart skipped a heavy beat.
"How is this possible?" he wondered, feeling a mix of shock and joy. "Before, this Genetic Acupoint only had a one or two percent compatibility rate when resonating with any genes. But now..."
He took a deep breath and activated the Genetic Acupoint once more to confirm it. Yes, it was true. The interior of that Genetic Acupoint shone with a dazzling light, filling a full seventy percent of the space!
"Seventy percent... No, this is seventy-two percent!" Ji Zhixing’s mind raced like a stormy sea. "A seventy-two percent compatibility rate?"
He had learned from textbooks since childhood that a Genetic Cultivator’s compatibility rate with various genes was mostly under fifty percent. Anything above fifty percent was already considered rare. As for anything above seventy percent... it wasn’t impossible, but it was the rarest of the rare!
"To think I actually have over a seventy percent compatibility rate with these genes?" An uncontrollable surge of ecstasy welled up within Ji Zhixing’s heart.
"These genes..." He raised his head and looked at the light screen hovering above the metal console. On the screen, the name and introduction of the genes were quietly displayed.
Looking at the name, Ji Zhixing’s expression froze slightly. He stood before the metal console for a moment, his eyes flickering with thought. A moment later, he took a deep breath, silently memorized the console’s location, and turned away to continue walking toward other areas.
"No rush, let’s keep looking," Ji Zhixing thought as he walked. "Since I managed to find one set of genes with such a high compatibility rate, maybe I can find a second one."
Unlike the others, he was born with dual Genetic Acupoints, meaning he could fuse with two core genes. Suppressing the excitement in his heart, Ji Zhixing continued walking past one metal console after another, activating his Genetic Acupoints to sense for resonance.
Meanwhile, in the first-floor lobby.
"I wonder how Ji Zhixing and the others are doing?" Teacher He Yanbing had just finished guiding a few students. She checked the time and began making her way to the second floor.
Upon arriving at the second floor, she immediately spotted Huang Yu and Yu Zhirou. The two were standing in front of different metal consoles, staring intently at the floating light screens before them, clearly focused on selecting their genes.
He Yanbing walked over and scanned the surroundings, but she couldn’t see Ji Zhixing anywhere. Frowning, she approached Huang Yu and asked, "Huang Yu, where is Ji Zhixing?"
Huang Yu blanked for a moment, snapping out of his sensing state. He looked around in confusion. "Huh? Ji Zhixing? Wasn’t he just over there?" He pointed to a console not far away.
"Where is he now?"
Huang Yu scratched his head. "I don’t know. I was focused on sensing the genes, so I didn’t pay attention."
He Yanbing then looked at Yu Zhirou.
Yu Zhirou also shook her head. "I didn’t notice either. I saw him over there earlier, but I don’t know where he went now."
She and Huang Yu had been busy looking for suitable genes. It was only when Teacher He asked that they realized Ji Zhixing had vanished at some point.
"It seems like I haven’t seen him for a while," Yu Zhirou said after a moment of thought.
"Could he have gone up to the third floor?" He Yanbing frowned.
The third floor was where Tier Three gene samples were kept. Ji Zhixing had only awakened a Tier Two Genetic Acupoint, so going up there would be useless. But perhaps he had gone up out of curiosity just to take a look.
"Let’s not worry about him for now. How about you two? Have you found any genes you fancy?" Teacher He asked Huang Yu and Yu Zhirou.
"Teacher He, I’ve taken a liking to the Lightning Leopard genes. They have a thirty-six percent compatibility rate with me. I’ll keep looking for now, but if I can’t find anything with a higher compatibility, I’ll choose the Lightning Leopard genes," Huang Yu replied promptly.
"The Lightning Leopard genes? A thirty-six percent compatibility rate? That’s quite decent." He Yanbing nodded slightly.
"Zhi Rou, what about you?" she then asked Yu Zhirou.
"The ones with the highest compatibility for me are the Wind-tailed Bird genes, but the rate is only twenty-nine percent. I’m planning to keep looking," Yu Zhirou answered.
"Avian genes?" He Yanbing’s eyes lit up slightly. "Then you can try continuing your search among avian genes, especially those with the wind attribute."
"Okay, Teacher He," Yu Zhirou replied obediently.
After giving the two of them a few more pointers, He Yanbing walked over to the staircase and made her way up to the third floor, her footsteps echoing—CLACK CLACK CLACK.
There were very few people on the third floor. She scanned the area and only saw a male student wearing the First High School uniform, but it wasn’t Ji Zhixing.
"He’s not on the third floor?" He Yanbing felt puzzled. She glanced toward the fourth floor but, after a brief hesitation, decided against going further up. She turned around, returned to the second floor, and did another careful sweep of the area, yet there was still no sign of Ji Zhixing.
"Where did this kid run off to?" she thought, her heart sinking slightly as she headed back down to the first floor.
In the bustling first-floor lobby, Ji Zhixing was inspecting the consoles one by one. Suddenly, he paused and stopped in front of a metal console.
[Name: Three-inch Stone Monkey Genes]
[Tier: Tier One]
[Description: A small primate living in deep mountains. Adult individuals are only about three inches tall. With their light and agile bodies, they can freely leap between rocks. Due to their extremely small size, they often hide in stone crevices, hence the name Three-inch Stone Monkey.]
[Primary Abilities: Agility Enhancement, Stone Monkey’s Heart]
[Primary Evolutionary Paths: Three-inch Stone Monkey King Genes, Stone Spirit Monkey Genes...]
"Three-inch Stone Monkey... Stone Monkey..."
Ji Zhixing muttered the name to himself. He then activated his Genetic Acupoint to check his compatibility rate with the Three-inch Stone Monkey genes.
SWISH!
The next second, he was completely dumbfounded. His Genetic Acupoint—the one that had always possessed a decent compatibility rate with simian genes—was now glowing, illuminating a staggering seventy-two percent of its area!
"A compatibility rate... of seventy-two percent? Another seventy-two percent compatibility rate?" Ji Zhixing’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief.
For his other Genetic Acupoint to have a seventy-two percent compatibility rate with the previous genes was already heaven-defying enough. He hadn’t expected to encounter yet another seventy-two percent compatibility rate here.
"There’s no other choice!" Ji Zhixing took a deep breath. "I’ve practically checked every single simian gene on the first floor.
"The one with the highest compatibility rate is this set of Three-inch Stone Monkey genes."
"These genes... are indeed very weak," he quickly analyzed in his mind. "The Three-inch Stone Monkey is only three inches tall as an adult—it’s barely larger than a mouse. In the early stages, the strength boost it can give me is almost negligible, and the speed enhancement is also limited..."
But the next moment, his gaze grew resolute.
"However, this is a seventy-two percent compatibility rate! What does such a high compatibility mean? It means I can unearth the deeper potential of these genes, and I’ll have a greater chance of evolving them to Tier Two, or even to a higher tier.
"If I don’t choose genes with such a high compatibility rate, I will definitely regret it for the rest of my life!"
