Chapter 129: Chapter 122: Number One in the Elite Class, Final Transformation of the Staff Soldier Stone Monkey Gene
After dinner, Ji Zhixing returned to the villa with Xiao Mingyue.
"I’m going to cultivate."
After resting for a while, he let Xiao Mingyue know and headed to the Cultivation Chamber. He began refining the Earth Spirit Liquid to enhance his cultivation base. Ever since he stole that Earth Spirit Liquid from the Land-Traveling Ancient Whale, he refined a portion of it every day to boost his progress.
The effects of the Earth Spirit Liquid were truly remarkable. Ordinary Origin Power Genetic Potions simply couldn’t compare. With every refinement, he could feel his cultivation improving. At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before he reached the peak of the Second Tier.
While Ji Zhixing went to cultivate, Xiao Mingyue didn’t disturb him. She just sat on the sofa, lazily scrolling through her phone.
Because her fused gene was so unique, cultivating was practically meaningless for her at the moment. She could only wait for Ji Zhixing’s cultivation to break through to the Third Tier before hers could follow suit. Even training her genetic abilities was pointless; the moment she acquired a genetic ability, she automatically gained perfect mastery over it.
Take her ability to conjure Flame Spirit Birds, for example. She could effortlessly summon a large flock of them and arrange them into combat formations. She could also gather them together, merging them into a single, colossal Flame Spirit Bird to attack her enemies. This level of control was something the vast majority of Genetic Cultivators dreamed of, but for her, it was as natural as breathing.
The next morning.
By the time Ji Zhixing woke up, Xiao Mingyue had already prepared breakfast and was sitting in the living room waiting for him.
After the two finished eating, Xiao Mingyue, having nothing better to do, opened the forum again. The topic had been brewing for a day, and now many people were hotly debating who would win in a fight between Ji Zhixing and Du Zhan.
"I think Du Zhan has the better odds. Du Zhan’s Barbaric Bull Demon Physique is a Four-Star quality ability, and his raw strength is astonishing. Ji Zhixing’s gigantification ability is probably only Three-Star quality. I don’t believe he’s a match for Du Zhan."
"Don’t forget that Ji Zhixing also successfully cultivated the Five-Star quality Nine-Tiered Tide Rod. Du Zhan’s hammer technique is practically unwatchable. It’s really hard to say who will win."
"No matter how good his staff technique is, the gap in raw strength is right there. If Du Zhan brings his hammer down, can Ji Zhixing even block it?"
"Did you guys forget about Xu Cheng? Even Xu Cheng’s lightning couldn’t hurt Ji Zhixing. No matter how strong Du Zhan is, can his physical attacks be harder to defend against than actual lightning?"
"That’s different. Xu Cheng’s element was countered. Du Zhan specializes in physical attacks, which can’t be hard-countered like that."
The comment section devolved into a heated debate. Supporters of Du Zhan and Ji Zhixing refused to budge, neither side able to convince the other.
Some people even brought up how Ji Zhixing would fare against the students in the Genius Class, but those posts were almost universally mocked. At this stage, no one believed Ji Zhixing stood a chance against the Genius Class students. After all, the gap between a Fourth Tier Morning Star-grade gene and a Second Tier gene wasn’t something easily bridged.
Right at that moment, Xiao Mingyue’s phone buzzed. She opened it to find a message from Su Qing.
"Ming Yue, tell Ji Zhixing that Du Zhan has already gone to the Martial Arts Hall and is waiting for him there."
"Is he in that much of a hurry?" Xiao Mingyue raised an eyebrow, looking at Ji Zhixing with a smile. "Su Qing just told me that Du Zhan has already gone to the Martial Arts Hall and is waiting for you there."
"Is that so?" Ji Zhixing paused for a moment before replying. "Then let’s head over. It’s better to get it over with early. I have a feeling my gene might just evolve after today’s fight."
"Alright," Xiao Mingyue nodded.
The two left the villa together and walked toward the Martial Arts Hall.
The entrance to the Martial Arts Hall was packed with people, countless times busier than it had been yesterday. Students continuously arrived from all directions—some jogging, others walking in groups of two or three, all bearing expressions of excitement and anticipation.
"There are so many people today," Xiao Mingyue whispered.
Ji Zhixing nodded and stepped inside.
Within the Martial Arts Hall, an estimated thousand people were standing around the arena, eagerly awaiting the battle between Ji Zhixing and Du Zhan. Of the twelve arenas, the other eleven were virtually ignored. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Arena One.
A tall, imposing figure stood on Arena One.
It was Du Zhan.
He wore a black tank top, exposing his thick, muscular arms. In his hand, he held a massive hammer that was half the height of a person, its head as large as a bushel. Standing in the center of the ring with his eyes half-closed, he waited quietly.
"Ji Zhixing is here!"
Someone shouted, and everyone’s gaze snapped toward the entrance in unison.
The crowd naturally parted, opening a clear path that stretched from the doorway straight to Arena One.
Standing at the entrance, Ji Zhixing looked down the cleared path and immediately spotted Du Zhan on the stage.
Their eyes locked.
Du Zhan tightened his grip on the giant hammer, his eyes surging with fighting intent.
Ji Zhixing remained calm. He turned to Xiao Mingyue and gave a slight nod.
"Go on," Xiao Mingyue said softly.
Ji Zhixing stepped forward, walking down the path parted by the crowd toward Arena One. Wherever he passed, the onlookers fell completely silent, their eyes following his every move.
"It’s about to start!"
"Who do you guys think will win?"
"No idea. We’ll only know when we watch."
"My money’s on Du Zhan. His Barbaric Bull Demon Physique is just too fierce."
"I’m betting on Ji Zhixing. His staff technique is something I genuinely admire."
The murmurs were kept low, but they blended into a continuous, buzzing hum.
Ji Zhixing reached the edge of the arena, paused for a brief moment, and then leaped onto the stage. He stood opposite Du Zhan, the two of them separated by a mere five or six meters.
