Chapter 113: Chapter 111: Ambition Higher Than the Sky, Pleasant Surprise, Unlocking Two Genetic Abilities at Once

"For Ji Zhixing, an ordinary class student who has only fused a Rank Two gene, wanting to master this staff technique is simply a pipe dream—a complete waste of time," Zhou Mu thought. He paused for a moment, then strode toward Ji Zhixing.

Ji Zhixing had just completed a round of cultivation and was leaning on his rod, panting slightly. At this moment, he felt someone watching him. He looked up to see a man in his thirties standing a short distance away, staring at him.

"Professor," Ji Zhixing called out respectfully upon seeing him.

For a man of his age to be here, it went without saying that he was a teacher from Yu City University.

Zhou Mu nodded. He walked up to Ji Zhixing and looked him up and down.

"I just watched your cultivation," he said, his tone lukewarm. "You’re already very familiar with this staff technique, but no matter how familiar you are, you’re only able to display its profoundness by relying on this Rank Two Five-Star equipment.

"I think you should know your own situation. You’ve only fused a Rank Two gene. It’s basically impossible for you to master this Rank Two Five-Star Staff Technique in a short period of time.

"So, I suggest you don’t waste too much time on it."

Hearing this, Ji Zhixing was slightly taken aback. He hadn’t expected this professor to walk over just to say this.

He shook his head and replied, "Thank you for your concern, Professor. But I know what I’m doing."

"You know what you’re doing?" A hint of disdain flashed in Zhou Mu’s eyes when he heard this. "If you really knew what you were doing, you wouldn’t have rejected Professor Liang Jin’s offer to take you as his student."

His voice wasn’t loud, but the training ground was very quiet, allowing several nearby students to hear him.

"Professor Liang Jin wanted to take Ji Zhixing as a student?"

"And Ji Zhixing rejected him?"

The students exchanged looks, shock written all over their faces.

Ji Zhixing frowned slightly. He hadn’t expected this professor to bring that up here.

"Professor Liang Jin holds the inheritance of the Sixth Rank Blazing Sun Level Six-armed Moon-devouring Demon Ape gene," Zhou Mu continued, his tone carrying a questioning edge. "Do you know what kind of concept that is?

"If you accepted the inheritance, it means you’d have the hope of becoming a Sixth Rank Blazing Sun Level Gene Cultivator in the future."

He stared at Ji Zhixing, as if waiting for his answer.

Ji Zhixing remained silent for a moment before raising his head to meet Zhou Mu’s eyes.

"Professor," he said calmly, "gene cultivation is a very personal matter. I have my own path to walk."

His voice was quiet but firm. Ji Zhixing knew that this man was likely saying all this for his own good. However, as he had said, gene cultivation was deeply personal. For the other party to arbitrarily dismiss him without understanding his situation was already a form of disrespect.

"Forget it." Hearing Ji Zhixing’s response, Zhou Mu cast a glance at him, shook his head, and turned to leave.

"He does have some talent. What a pity... his head is in the clouds," he thought.

He didn’t stop walking, heading toward the other side of the training ground. Since Ji Zhixing wouldn’t accept his advice, there was no use saying more.

After Zhou Mu left, the nearby freshmen looked at each other in sheer shock.

"Is what that professor said true?"

"Professor Liang Jin, who holds a Sixth Rank Blazing Sun Level inheritance, wanted to take Ji Zhixing as his student? And he actually got rejected?"

"Is... is this for real?"

"A Sixth Rank Blazing Sun Level! That’s a realm second only to the Seventh Rank Glory Level."

"Ji Zhixing actually refused? What on earth is he thinking?"

The discussions rose in waves. Gazes fell upon Ji Zhixing—some were shocked, some bewildered, some felt it was a pity, while others secretly shook their heads, thinking he was an absolute fool.

Seeing Zhou Mu leave and hearing the surrounding students gossip about him, Ji Zhixing sighed and shook his head. He put away his Nine-Tiered Tide Rod and turned to leave the training ground as well.

"I have my own path to walk," he thought as he strolled along the campus’s tree-lined path. "Along this journey, I’ll probably face constant pointing and whispering from others. Just like when I chose to fuse the Three-inch Stone Monkey gene back at Yu City Third Middle School."

Back then, everyone had called him an idiot, saying he was ruined and had squandered his talent. But he had known his path clearly. In the end, he had evolved the Three-inch Stone Monkey gene into the Staff Soldier Stone Monkey gene. He had forced all those who gossiped about him to shut their mouths.

"It will be the same this time," Ji Zhixing thought, taking a deep breath. "They don’t understand because they don’t know my path.

"My gene compatibility is at one hundred percent. I can clearly hear the voice of the gene and know just how terrifying its potential is.

"The path I’ve chosen is one that surpasses the Ninth Rank.

"In comparison, a Sixth Rank Blazing Sun Level gene inheritance really isn’t much."

Thinking of this, his footsteps gradually lightened.

Right at that moment, his phone suddenly rang. He pulled it out and saw it was a call from Xiao Mingyue.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Ji Zhixing!" Xiao Mingyue’s voice rang through the receiver, tinged with excitement. "Are you done with your business? Hurry back, I’ve prepared a surprise for you!"

"A surprise?" Hearing this word again, Ji Zhixing was slightly taken aback.

"Don’t ask, you’ll know when you get back. Hurry up!" Xiao Mingyue finished and hung up the phone.

Ji Zhixing stared at his phone screen in a daze for a moment. Then, he shook his head and quickened his pace.

He crossed the campus, following the tree-lined paths, and soon returned to the villa area. Without knocking, he simply scanned his face to unlock the door. The living room was empty, with no sign of Xiao Mingyue.

"Ming Yue?" he called out.

"Over here!" Xiao Mingyue’s voice echoed from the direction of the bathroom.

Ji Zhixing changed his shoes and walked over. The bathroom door was open. Xiao Mingyue stood at the entrance, a bright smile on her face when she saw him approach.

"Come look."

She stepped aside, allowing Ji Zhixing to see inside. Ji Zhixing peeked in and froze completely.

In the middle of the bathroom sat a massive tub. It was over a meter tall, rectangular, and made entirely of stone. The tub was filled with a light blue liquid that was crystal clear, exuding a refreshing scent. Just a whiff of it made one feel invigorated and thoroughly relaxed.

"This is..." Ji Zhixing turned his head, staring at Xiao Mingyue in astonishment.

"Little Life Spring Water," Xiao Mingyue explained with a smile. "It’s the same stuff I gave you to drink before. Of course, it’s not entirely Little Life Spring Water in here. I added some other things. Otherwise, if it were purely Little Life Spring Water, I wouldn’t have enough."

Ji Zhixing opened his mouth, entirely at a loss for words.

Little Life Spring Water. He had drunk two bottles of it, so he knew exactly how effective and exorbitantly expensive this stuff was. And now, Xiao Mingyue had actually prepared an entire tub of it. Even though she claimed there were other things mixed in, the sheer amount was still utterly terrifying.

"You can lie in there and have a good sleep in a bit," Xiao Mingyue said.

"Have a good sleep?" Ji Zhixing looked at her, rather confused.

"Mhm." Xiao Mingyue nodded. "I’ll give you my Heart Refining Stone Pillow in a moment. You can just lie in here and try to develop both the Unmoving Stone Heart and your advanced self-healing ability all at once."
