Chapter 873 Okay

Chapter 873  Okay

Nosphaleen appeared in a delicate flash of light, standing much taller than before as she flexed her tail to her full height. With the way her lower half snaked out beneath her, she easily loomed a half meter or more over Sylas, and much of that was with the majority of her tail still firmly pressed against the ground.

With the connection between the two, Nosphaleen understood her task immediately. However, she couldn’t help but frown.

“Master, her Will is very powerful.”

In response, Sylas pointed a finger at Lauren, a blade of Glass taking form. The instant it burst into a vicious white-green flame, he pierced forward.

Lauren’s body shuddered as the blade cut into her skin, burying itself deep within her body.

Nosphaleen’s gaze flashed and she activated Compelling Gaze. A strong siphoning energy came from Blade Aura, and Nosphaleen made it a two-pronged attack seamlessly.

Lauren’s eyes sparked with pink lightning, her Will fighting back viciously. However, as powerful as her Will was, as far as Sylas could tell, it was barely above the Tangible Will level. No, it was approaching Sparking Will, but it wasn’t quite there yet.

At this point, it was still a full three levels beneath Sylas’ own, and the gap reflected that.

Sylas hadn’t had the time to look into the Grimblade Lineage Inheritance, at least not in any sort of detail. But it was still enough to target a Will more directly like this, especially when the target was already defeated, like in Lauren’s case.

He could feel Lauren’s Will shrinking away.

“You shouldn’t do that.”

The voice made Sylas’ eyes narrow. He didn’t sense the person approaching, but he could recognize the voice well enough.

Nathan.

When he realized who was speaking, Sylas also felt that maybe it was only natural he didn’t sense him. There were many oddities swirling around Nathan that he didn’t quite understand.

What he did know was that Nathan and Archibald seemed attached at the hip, and now they were both eyeing the Metarock in his possession.

For obvious reasons, Sylas didn’t like that at all. He also didn’t like how secretive they were, or the fact he couldn’t understand their purpose.

While Sylas had made a show of deducing that Archibald was a Grimblade in front of Nathan, he knew well that this was only to assert a small bit of control over a situation where he had little of it.

He wasn’t exactly proud of that, but there wasn’t much else he could do in a situation like that one.

This time, it was unsurprising that Sylas directly ignored Nathan.

“If you drain her Will away too much, she won’t even be conscious anymore, let alone able to answer your questions.”

Sylas ignored him again.

At that moment, one of the straggling members of Legacy suddenly attacked, but before Sylas could take action, an odd energy shield appeared. The attack was reflected, and the Legacy member died on the spot.

“I really am on your side, Sylas.” Nathan continued. “We are family, after all. Though distant.”

Sylas still didn’t reply. He hadn’t heard anything worth changing his mind over. He would rather the Metarock in his Madness Key rot than land in the hands of someone who not only knew how to use it better than he did, but could also use it against him.

‘I’ve found him, master.’ Nosphaleen’s words echoed in Sylas’ ears silently.

Images flashed in Sylas’ mind, and his head snapped toward a certain direction.

Glass blades flew.

“Whoa! Whoa!”

Nathan stumbled out from behind a tree as it shattered to pieces, rolling out in a sorry state. He seemed half surprised that he was actually found, and another half a bit fearful.

He really didn’t want to come here. If there was just a single slip-up, he really would lose his life to this madman. At that point, would any of this be worth it at all?

Nathan’s instinct was to fight back, but he bit back the urge, just holding his hands up high and standing completely still.

There was a flash before his eyes, and a cold sweat fell down his brows as the light faintly caught a Glass blade hovering before his forehead. It was so thin that his eyes practically missed it entirely.

He didn’t know what sort of Aether Sylas had gotten control of, or what Skill he was using to direct it like that, but he knew that it was no good for him.

“I really did come here in peace.”

Sylas kept staring at Nathan in silence.

“Alright, alright, I get it. For a guy like you, empty words won’t mean much of anything. You want something more concrete, but I don’t even know if I can give you that. All I can tell you is that if you put… you know what in Archibald’s hands, Earth has a chance. If you refuse to do so even now, then we have no chance.”

Even after these words, Sylas didn’t say a single thing. He continued to practically stare holes through Nathan.

Nathan’s eyes darted around. Truth be told, he hid his nervousness quite well, maybe due to years of experiencing high-profile negotiations with all the businesses he had started from scratch. But even so, it was a completely different beast when you were betting with your life rather than money.

It was also hard to calm down when the carnage of Sylas’ last battle was literally all around him. There were three elites charred beyond recognition, and one of them literally had their neck hanging from Sylas’ palm.

Nathan took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He realized then that he was feeling an irrational fear. Sylas wasn’t the type to kill without rhyme or reason, especially not when the target had information he wanted. He was feeling this way only because Sylas’ Charisma was actually so overwhelming that his Will was suffocating him.

After realizing this, Nathan calmed considerably, the shaking in his heart descending to a manageable level.

“I know you have a lot of questions, but you should also know that Earth is in a very bad position. The reasons you should trust Archibald should already be known to you. The decision is up to you.” Nathan spoke calmly, his eyes still closed because he didn’t dare to look at Sylas again and lose his calm once more.

“Okay.”
