Sylas took a seat. He didn’t even look at the chains again. He wouldn’t need them.
If this rage in his heart couldn’t anchor him down, then he would be even more pathetic than he felt.
His Demonic Will stirred, an eerie darkness seeping out from the corners of his eyes with sparks of emerald flames.
Then his body suddenly flexed.
The ancient rock stirred to life and tendrils of blood mixed with bony solids pierced into Sylas from all sides.
Anyone who had heard of Body Essence Refinement would know that this Secret Realm had no business being so cheap.
In truth, this was also an Ancient method, from the very same era as the Ancient Aether Treasure that Sylas had missed out on.
It had passed through many hands, and there was more than just a few in circulation. They still sold for a pretty penny, but it was still a far cry from their worth in the past.
This was because of two main factors.
The first was that, as Nyssa had said, gathering Blood Essence and Bone Essence was incredibly difficult. Blood Essence was still alright, as there were some Rune Masters that could buy them in small quantities for the sake of drawing talismans and things of the like.
However, these small vials of Blood Essence could easily cost tens of thousands of Hero Points each, and would be nothing more than a drop in the bucket compared to the amount you would need to make it feasible.
Just in order to make this Secret Realm even the slightest bit useful, one would have to spend at least as much as one had bought it for on Blood Essence alone before beginning.
As for Bone Essence… it was hundreds of times more expensive than Blood Essence.
Unless one had hundreds of billions of Hero Points to burn, it simply wasn’t worth it.
The only geniuses that could afford such a thing were the truest cream of the crop. There weren’t more than ten in the entire Skai Galaxy.
And obviously, this was done with the support of their families.
Nyssa had spent quite some effort in trying to get Sylas to change his mind, but could only give up in the end.
The fact she had managed to maintain her temper control even at that point was a testament to just how enduring she was.
As for the second problem…
It was the pain.
Sylas’ very bones were cracking apart to make way for his new Blood and Bone Essence, but as though that wasn’t bad enough, the laws of this world were forcing his muscles into a constant flexed state to promote more blood flow.
This shouldn’t have been bad… if not for the fact it meant that his tendons and ligaments were now pulling on fractured bone with all its might.
There was a strong, very human urge to run away from the feeling.
The array was completely under Sylas’ control. This world was his domain for all intents and purposes.
Lowering the intensity, or even shutting it completely off, were all within his purview.
But he did no such things.
Fury fueled him.
He made it faster, more violent.
Blossoming petals of blood bloomed beneath his skin and his organs began to rupture.
But as much damage as he was receiving, he could feel his Dual Class Constitution rushing in to fill in the gaps, his State of Wealth supporting it with 100% of its effort.
All the while, Sylas kept his eyes open, his expression an iceberg of focus.

Much like normal Gene Crystals, Gene Talent Crystals needed a trigger, a catalyst of sorts. This catalyst would decide what kind of options it would forge with the requisite Genes.

This time, he had a completely different idea.
He Extricated Lucius’ Blade Aura Gene Talent, Plinli’s Lightning Sylph Unique Gene, and his own Winter’s Edge Gene Talent.
There was nothing in the rules that said he could only use one catalyst. But it was very likely that this would push the Durability of the Gene Crystal to its very limits. There would definitely only be a single chance to use it.
