Chapter 755 Perfect [Top 5 in Golden Tickets Bonus]
Sylas dismissed his fusion with the Basilisk King, a string of pulsing pain erupting through his body. His muscles spasmed and it almost looked like cramps were continuously forming beneath his skin.
It was a gruesome sight saved from being worse by the lack of blood. It wasn’t until Sylas took several deep breaths and massaged his body through a series of flexes that the pain slowly subsided.
The drawbacks this time were minimal, mostly thanks to the fact Were-For-The-Invincible had Leveled up considerably, increasing his control.
Because he could now Fuse with two beasts, the limit for the stats he could take when fusing with just one had gone up. But the gap between his stats and that of the Basilisk King’s were still too far apart.
He could maintain the Fusion for more than five seconds, but over that threshold would be the point where terrible harm would start being inflicted onto his body.
Only the first leg of his plan was complete for now, so he didn’t want to end up in a partially comatose state just yet, at least not until he could guarantee that there would at least be a victory waiting on the other side for him.
‘Should be about right…’
Sylas looked up from his position on the flickering lightning spear. Indeed, there were several spectators around, most of which were many hundreds of meters away.
This sort of battle wasn’t the sort that most could be nearby for. His strength had already reached the point where even if he couldn’t level a small town to the ground, he could still definitely destroy a street or two.
Well, his personal strength wasn’t capable of that just yet mostly because he was still lacking in offensive repertoire. But his enemies were clearly already capable of such a thing.
The fact Lucirius could call down lightning from the skies made him feel that this world was truly more fantastical than he knew. He thought that he had already gotten used to it, but clearly there was much more to learn.
That fact made his blood boil.
Sylas reached down a hand and tried to test to see if he could take Lucirius’ Genes. He was honestly just wasting time. The last time he tried to take Genes from a Sylph, he was stonewalled. But he thought that he might as well try now.
‘Hm?’
Sylas’ gaze flickered.
That was when he recalled something.
Back when he killed Azrael, his Taboo Bond Path was at just Level 1. It was before he had ever gotten any Free Experience. Because of that, it only worked on Fragmented Genes and mostly ended up being worthless.
After all, beasts with Fragmented Genes had already stopped being commonplace after Sylas exited the Slithering Madness Dungeon.
But now, the situation was different. He didn’t have to rely on the system anymore.
Azrael’s body had ended up atrophying after the failure by the system. But this time, when Sylas used Extricate, he could feel some resistance… however, this resistance meant two things in particular.
First, it meant that his Extricate Path Talent had actually sensed something.
And second… he felt that he could actually pull it out.
But this was still odd for Sylas. That was because in the Frostbane Dungeon, he had tried to use Extricate on the Sylphs there as well, but he had been stonewalled too.
Could it be that Taboo Bond had leveled up enough that the protections the Sylphs had against this sort of thing weren’t effective on him anymore?
A bundle of lightning came out from Lucirius’ body and Sylas looked at it curiously, his gaze flickering.
It felt like a Gene and yet not like a Gene at the same time.
Sylas had seen Unique Genes before, but they felt nothing like this one.
‘Is this the difference between being born with a Unique Gene and fusing with one after the fact? It feels like this is much more a part of Lucirius’ body than the others had been…
‘No, it’s not just this…’
Sylas took out Lucius’ corpse and used Extricate on it as well. The Grimblade family’s Unique Gene appeared, twirling with a red light as it spontaneously twisted into blades from time to time.
While he had had Lucius with him for a decent while now, Sylas hadn’t felt the need to take the Grimblade’s Unique Gene from him.
‘It’s a Silver Gene…’ Sylas realized. ‘… But this feels deeper than that…’
After a few seconds, Sylas grasped what was going on here.
Lucirius’ Gene wasn’t just an F-Grade Unique Gene. It was an F-Grade Unique Gene with an evolution path to the E-Grade.
In fact, it seemed that for talented Sylphs, they would be born directly with an E-Grade Unique Gene. But Lucirius was likely lacking in this respect, so he would have to hope for an upgrade in the future.
That said, it was still very rare for a Sylph to be born with an E-Grade Unique Gene directly. So this wasn’t to say that Lucirius was incompetent, just rather that he wasn’t lucky enough.
Sylas finally grasped the difference. His Extricate Path Talent wouldn’t work on E-Grade Unique Genes as it was limited to the F-Grade. But this was a fascinating boon.
‘But this Unique Gene is very clearly tied to the Sylph Race, or rather, the Lightning Sylphs, or whatever they might call themselves. It’s not very useful to me. As for the other Genes in this Sylph’s body… I cannot take them.’
Sylas realized why this was.
Lucirius wasn’t an F-Grade existence.
He was an E-Grade one.
Almost all of his Genes outside of the F-Grade Unique Gene were E-Grade!
The others were foundational Genes that seemed to have sunk in deeper than Genes usually did. As a result, Sylas couldn’t reach them unless he raised Taboo Bond to Level 50.
‘Interesting. I’ll study this more later…’
Sylas slipped the Genes back into the corpses of the two bodies and stored them away. Looking up again, he knew that the time had come.
The streets rumbled as Sylas received a message from his notifications. He took a glance at it and nodded.
“Perfect.”
