Chapter 2149: Blob

Chapter 2149: Blob

Sylas pulled the Duchess up, standing up from his seated position to cradle her. He looked down at her expression and realized she wasn't likely to wake up anytime soon. Her Will had been fractured, whatever impact she had experienced hadn't been normal.

Honestly, he had expected something like this to happen. There was a working theory forming in his mind, one that wasn't quite complete yet as he still had a few pieces that he had yet to parse out.

But right now the short of it was that there had to be some way that the Golden Races had managed to store and trap the Sanguara. So, when he saw that the Duchess wasn't entering the Split Realm, he had a feeling that it was either because she would be forced to enter later at some point, or that something would force her hand sooner.

It seemed that the answer was the latter.

Sylas placed a hand down on her belly, trying to sense something. But then he shook his head.

This version of the Duchess was not pregnant, and Sylas didn't have the other versions here to combine with her. Because of that, it would be impossible to pass on the Grimblade Bloodline to her through their child.

If he had been able to do that, he would be able to use the connection to easily heal her Will, as the Grimblade Bloodline was very good at snatching and integrating Will. He wasn't sure if it would work just as easily for Demonic Will or not, but this would have been a good chance to try that.

Unfortunately, it seemed that he wouldn't get that chance.

However…

Sylas looked toward a blob of something floating not far away. He had noticed it earlier, he had just been observing his surroundings more first.

That blob should be a bit of the Blazara's blood. It seemed that whatever had caused the Duchess to fall into the Split Realm had also pulled some of it in as well.

The Sanguara basically ran on blood, but the blood of an S-tier might be a bit much…

Sylas looked down at the Duchess. She looked like she was in a peaceful sleep, but her breathing was just a touch hurried and her features were slightly paler than usual.

Telling her tier was a bit harder than it should have been for someone as sharp as Sylas. It should be because the system here was very different.

But just based on an estimate and the Runes he could see floating around her, she should be a C-tier right now.

That was another odd piece of the puzzle, because the Duchess that was trapped within the Golden Battlefield was an S-tier. So when had that difference been made up, exactly?

Even if she absorbed S-tier blood, it wasn't like she'd rocket up to that stage in an instant. She still had to go through the same growing pains as everyone else.

Sylas' eyes suddenly narrowed as a rustle filled the air.

He looked over toward the city to find that a group was moving toward them. Or, rather, they were moving toward the blob of blood.

The orb of flickering flames and sanguine liquid was being maintained by some sort of forcefield around the tree. In fact, it seemed as though the tree was in the process of absorbing the blood itself.

The real reason Sylas hadn't moved was because he was waiting for the right timing. He wanted to use the blood to heal the Duchess' Will wound, but he needed the blood to be a lot weaker first.

But now something was speeding up his timeline.

It wasn't a group of humans rushing toward Sylas. Instead, it was a group of humanoid monkeys, ones with golden skin, long, powerful tails, and thick staffs in their hands.

They swung forward, swapping from tail, to palm, to feet as they rushed toward the blood faster and faster, seemingly trying to outpace the tree as well.

Sylas didn't even hesitate any longer. He wasn't going to have the time to let the blood weaken any further.

The sound of chirping monkeys filled the air as they noticed his movement. He had felt their gazes on him already earlier, but they had simply ignored him as though his existence didn't mean much to them.

But now that calculation had clearly changed.

Sylas didn't care.

He didn't know how time worked now, or if history had already changed because of his appearance, or maybe if this was always meant to happen and he was just setting things that had already been in motion back into motion once more.

What he did know was that this woman would be carrying his child in the future, and to him, that was as good as her carrying his child now.

No harm would come to her, and there certainly wouldn't be a pack of apes in existence that could stop him.

The longer the Duchess' Will spent fragmented, the more of herself she would lose, and the less likely it would be that she would ever recover completely.

Right now, he was in a window where all should be fine so long as he was fast enough.

In a flash, he had already appeared by the blood. He was by far the closest, as everything that had come in with him should have popped up around this area.

On the one hand that probably meant that the only other person here with him was the Duchess.

On the other, it also meant that there weren't going to be any other outsiders to take the pressure off of him.

It was a good thing, then, that he didn't need outsiders.

"Gogo." Sylas said coldly.

An enormous Basilisk King appeared, wrapping his limbs around the trees and tightly winding around the Duchess until she was sufficiently propped up.

Sylas' eyes darted back and forth across the blob of blood as he tried to decide exactly how he was going to handle this. Then he suddenly struck out a palm, one that landed not on the blood, but the tree itself.

It wasn't lost on him that he had just stumbled into a Split Realm that likely encompassed the Race of the Monkey King.

In that case, they were just going to have to start their storied history now.

BANG.
