Chapter 2127: The Question [Bonus]

Sylas' eyes narrowed.
There had to be something special about the Heavens that allowed them to specialize in one of the Core Stats. Their laws were being perfectly dictated by something, and they had either been divided as they were for a purpose, or the universe had naturally manifested itself that way.
A fusing of two Heavens was not normal in the slightest, and Sylas had a feeling it wasn't just going to be the Mortal Realm this happened in.
The Demi-God Realm was being roped in. The Angels were using proxies because maybe even they didn't know what the result of such a large change would be. But what they did know was that they wanted a piece of that pie.
Why not use the Thryskai as their pawns, then? What was the difference?
Maybe the Angels were already aware that the Thryskai were Demons and this wasn't as much of a secret as Sylas thought it was. In fact, maybe while Sylas had assumed that it was the Angels who were suppressing the Thryskai… Maybe it was the other way around.
The Thryskai that were on the Real Plane seemed weak and fragile to Sylas, but what if the pressure they could apply to the Angels from the Demon Plane was so great that the Angels had no choice but to take this approach?
It felt like the entire situation had flipped on its head and things that Sylas felt he had had a good grasp on were flying out of the window one after another.
If it was truly the case that the Thryskai were more in control than he thought, then maybe rather than playing into the hands of the Angels, he was actually still actively playing into the hands of the Thryskai by exposing things ahead of time like he had.
The difference was that rather than playing into the hands of a relatively small player like Rhykan…
Whoever was pulling the strings this time was probably a God. Not in the God Spirit sense, not in the casually thrown around sense, but in the truest sense there could be.
Sylas exhaled a breath and released his hold on his Hibernation Realm. The projection of his Legendary City snapped back and vanished.
The planet reacted like a rubber band that had just been stretched taut and then suddenly released. Buildings collapsed and it felt like the sun itself was falling out of the sky as it shook in its gravitational orbit.
Sylas, though, was still lost in thought. He already knew there was a difficult challenge on the horizon, but he had planned to deal with it.
He didn't expect that one of the trump cards he planned to use to deal with it would be a piece in a much larger game.
One of the methods he had set aside to ensure he would be able to deal with the First Race was making sure that he would secure the Mancer Scape's secrets before anyone else did. But would the Thryskai and Angels allow him to do that so easily?
However…
'They were too casual.' Sylas thought.
Right now, he was in better position than anyone to claim those rewards. The Sanctum was effectively under his control. He just needed to become its Progenitor.
And doing that would be a lot easier soon.
'If what I've deduced is true, then the calculation has changed. The laws are changing, and that will only accelerate after The Sanctum rises to the Demi-God Realm. At that point, the changes that were limited in their reach will bloom and the world of Spirit Beasts will change enough that its ties to them won't be as strong, giving me an easier path to ingratiating myself and taking the reins.
'But that is probably also what the Angels and Thryskai want as well. They may have deduced too that becoming a Progenitor is the easiest path, or maybe they had a more sophisticated solution than I do…'
Sylas mulled over his thoughts continuously, his gaze growing sharper and sharper.
Ultimately, there was only one solution to everything.
Become strong.
It would be at most half a year before The Sanctum rose to the Demi-God Plane because of Rhykan's actions, and Rhykan was almost certainly on the Demi-God Plane right this moment preparing for that.
Sylas couldn't just twiddle his thumbs and wait for it too, only to get blindsided by whatever Rhykan was preparing.
It was time he took such drastic steps as well.
His Grimblades were Demi-Gods now. It seemed that he was just going to have to accelerate their ascent to the Demi-God Plane.
There were two options that lay before him.
One was to go to the Demi-God Plane alone. This was the safer of the two options on the surface, but returning would be a lot more difficult, and it would leave Earth without his protection.
Maybe it would be fine against most, especially if he left Fanelei to be their guardian.
But when the First Race returned, there was simply no chance. Fanelei was strong, but not strong enough. Not yet.
The other was to elevate the whole of Earth. But that would put them under a completely different sort of fire.
He had no information about what challenges lay at the feet of such a thing, and while he could question the Madness Key about it, knowing the challenges was one thing, actually being strong enough to deal with them was a separate matter entirely.
On the Demi-God Plane, his Fathomless Rune Creation wouldn't be enough. Their foundations would be much deeper and stronger… The D-tier would be like a moth to a flame.
But… what if he elevated Earth and the Milky Way? If he took an entire galaxy with him as its Progenitor, how much of a buffer would that give him from others?
Rather than trying to vie for space in someone else's galaxy, he would just carve out a path of his own and maybe buy just enough time… The question was…
Was that even possible?
