Chapter 2003: Angel Wings [Bonus]

“This isn’t smart.” Riqo said slowly, his eyes measuring Sylas as though he had no intention of fighting but was instead trying his best to find some sort of weakness.

Sylas didn’t say anything, but he didn’t make a move to attack either, just watching them in complete silence.

“Even if you grow powerful enough to defeat every Thryskai of the Mortal Realm, the Demi-God Plane is on another level entirely. There’s no way our Demi-God Clan will let you go. And even if by some miracle you can deal with them, do you think our Ancestral God Clans would let you go?”

Sylas still didn’t reply and Riqo’s teeth clenched.

“The Seeing Eye Guild. You’ve successfully exposed them. The Skai Heaven will be in need of warriors very soon and with your skill, accomplishing enough for all of your sins to be forgiven is very much possible. There’s no need to go down a path of no return.”

Ziel stood to the side, wanting to say something out of pride, but restraining himself in the end. If Sylas could listen, that would be for the best. He didn’t want to die here.

Somehow, Sylas felt like an unclimbable mountain. Every hint of logic told them that an E-tier couldn’t possibly be this strong. But every way he looked at it, regardless of how they felt, so long as they attacked here, there would only be one outcome… Death.

“You housed a Disciple of Madness.” Sylas suddenly said.

Riqo’s pupils constricted into pinholes.

“In fact, you didn’t house just one. You housed two.” Sylas continued.

This time, it was Ziel whose heart stopped beating entirely. Riqo looked over at him, but Ziel had turned as pale as a ghost.

“Do you have any idea why your Demi-God Clan was erased?” Sylas asked.

The two had trembling pupils, but neither answered.

“Flying too close to the sun.” Sylas answered the question for them. “You speak of your Thryskai Clans as though they are harmonious. But it doesn’t seem so. If you were, the moment there was such an infringement on your Heaven, you would have mobilized every force you have to wipe the Seeing Eye Guild out.

“So why is it that instead of doing that, you came here to attack me instead?”

Sylas hardly seemed like he was talking to them at all. It felt like he was talking at them, or maybe even at something long past them.

“In fact, it even seems like you’ve been waiting for the Seeing Eye Guild to come here and help you in an attack. If there was really a top to bottom union between Thryskai from the God Realm to the Mortal Realm, why would such a thing ever happen.”

Neither Riqo nor Ziel answered, but their retainers placed hands on their weapons.

Sylas directly ignored them as though he hadn’t sensed the shift at all.

“You see, something tells me that even if I wipe out every single Thryskai on the Mortal Realm, and then rise up and wipe out every single Thryskai of the Demi-God Realm, there still wouldn’t be much movement from your Gods.

“Why is that?”

Riqo and Ziel were both in a cold sweat.

Sylas flipped over a palm and a feather appeared. It was a very familiar feather, something that he had used long ago. It was nothing but a replica, but it got the point across quite well.

The angel wings of a Demi-God Thryskai.

“Your Gods… they might be focused on their own problems. Maybe they might press a finger on the scale here and there, but whether they actually interfere so much…”

Sylas flipped another palm and the air shook around him. This feather he produced was very different. It was small and pink… one of the feathers that had once been on the ankle of a certain descendant of the Angel Race.

All he had done was beat her up, he hadn’t even killed her, and yet the so-called Angel Race had descended to wipe out his world—or try to, at least.

And yet, he had been responsible for the eradication of an entire Demi-God Clan. But… nothing.

Why was that?

He didn’t believe that there was absolutely no way of understanding his involvement in that. With how vast the range of abilities in the world were, it just didn’t make much sense for there to be no way of telling.

And even if he somehow skated by free, there was no way that Rhykan, who had even more direct involvement, would have. So why were they both fine?

What was exactly the link between Angels and the Thryskai? Were the Thryskai Angels? Why would beating up the mere branch descendant of one lead to such a harsh outcome, while eradicating the entire Clan of another lead to nothing?

There was only one obvious answer.

The Angels were above the Thryskai. And, in fact, it might very well be the intention of the Angels for the Seeing Eye Guild to come from the Cryst Heaven to take up shop here in the first place.

The Thryskai didn’t like it and had turned a blind eye, but they had still been using covert methods to suppress them. When they saw Sylas, they likewise saw an opportunity to act… Until Sylas actually used the world stage he was given to expose their actions and reveal the fact the Seeing Eye Guild was filled with outsiders.

Now, the Thryskai of the God Realm were probably dealing with quite a bit of pressure due to Sylas’ inadvertent actions.

There was almost certainly war coming. But that war wouldn’t involve the biggest powers. In fact, the Thryskai of the God Realm had no choice but to make certain it didn’t lest they be punished heavily for it.

But why? Why would the Angels want the Seeing Eye Guild for this?

That was something that Sylas could only guess at until something clicked for him.

The connection between Will, the Madness Disciples, and the Tri Class Constitution.

If Sylas was correct, the existence of Salivar was exactly what the Seeing Eye Guild was after.

Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence at all that Gluttony had appeared so nearby. He was probably their next target.

After all…

Greed and Wrath were already under their thumbs.

And Sylas had formed an even better method of doing exactly what they wanted on his own.
