Chapter 2000 Obvious
Chapter 2000: Obvious
Nosphaleen found herself smiling beside herself, but it was Fanelei who, once again, had a lip that refused to stop twitching.
She had almost fainted when she saw Sylas create a Gold Gene of the Core Stats. That was no mere Gold Gene, nor was it any mere Core Stat. It was a Unique Gene, a Gene the likes of which even she might have scratched and clawed for at the start of any one of her rebirths, even if it meant carving out a whole new path.
And yet, to Sylas, it was ash by the roadside, no different from a twist of his head and a purse of his lips to spit at the curb.
He had stopped caring about that Gene a very long time ago. What he wanted from Keyesen was very different.
As the motes of light crumbled in his palm and the screams of Keyesen reached their peak, Sylas outstretched a hand and his Grim Blade appeared.
Black runes and dancing complex fissures broke apart space and forced the weapon into being.
Soon, the curve of a scythe had manifested and a low hum filled the air as though the world was whining against its existence.
This was the first time that Sylas had summoned the Grim Blade in its truest form since stepping into E-tier Fathomless Rune Creation, and it showed.
It bucked against the very Mesh of Reality itself, its weight so grand that if one looked into space time, Sylas would practically force its curvature to reflect his own mass as though he were the exceptionally moon in the skies.
The Grim Blade was the representation of Sylas’ Royal Hero Line, his bloodline, his Clan of which he was the originator and Ancestor. However, Sylas’ ability to reflect that was limited by the fact his Fathomless Rune Creation had been of the F-tier while he had been of the E-tier. This had severely limited the true might of the Grim Blade.
Now, however, Sylas could not only form perfect clones with 100% of his real body’s strength, but he could form the blade in its truest essence.
Its power now was unlike anything these Ancestors had ever seen. And it was this weapon that Sylas slowly raised.
The curve of the blade landed around Keyesen’s shoulders, hooking his head in its sharpness.
And then, with an indifferent flicker, Sylas pulled.
Keyesen’s screams were abruptly cut out.
A Virtue of Greed had been born today, and just as quickly he was snuffed out.
Sylas didn’t really know what Keyesen had done to deserve such a title. It shouldn’t have been easy to form a Virtue. But he didn’t know Keyesen, and he had never cared to.
So the truth of the matter was irrelevant to him.
There was only one thing that was.
The Grim Blade shuddered, a shocking amount of power rippling through it. But this time, it wasn’t coming from the Grim Blade. Instead, it was coming from what it had reaped.
The Virtue of Greed Seed rampaged, threatening to shake free and dissipate into the ether.
“Silence.” Sylas said softly. Both he and his clone spoke the words at the very same time, the air around them turning chilled and frigid as though something was being leached from the world itself.
Time slowed, and then slowed again.
Fissures of crimson began to appear in Sylas’ Grim Blade. Even though he forged the blade with the Runes of the Death Seal, it seemed that it was completely incapable of fully restraining the Virtue of Greed.
The pool of Arcane Madness was far too vast, and Sylas wasn’t just fighting against a single stream of thought. Instead, it was like he was pulling against the Greed of the entire universe.
How could a single person ever do such a thing? How could you alone ever be enough.
‘You could never be…’ Sylas thought to himself silently.
If things continued like this, the Virtue of Greed would break free and all of this would be for naught.
Of course, Sylas wouldn’t technically lose anything by letting it go. Keyesen would still be dead and that would be that. He could still try to find a new way to form the Tri Class he was looking for.
In reality, Sylas didn’t care about gaining a third Class. What he really wanted was Salivar’s ability to use three Comprehensions in unison. That would be a game changer for Sylas.
Having to swap between Madness and Mixed Chaotic Arts was limiting his battle prowess greatly. In fact, it was as much as an entire magnitude, so much so he hadn’t even made any real attempt to learn a third Comprehension even though he had the slot.
But now he had comprehended one by accident-Reaper, his now second Sacred Comprehension.
If Sylas could use all three of these Comprehensions at the same time, there wouldn’t be a single soul on the Mortal Realm he feared while he was in Earth’s Domain. That would be huge.
Even outside of it, he bet he would be able to fight B-tiers without relying on a set up like what he had here.
Although this strength wouldn’t easily translate to the Demi-God Realm, it would surely give him more leverage.
Sylas wouldn’t easily let go of a chance for such power.
He watched his Grim Blade as the cracks within it only accelerated. The world around him might as well have been irrelevant as he forgot about every single one of them.
What should he do about this? Was there even anything he could do?
Sylas wanted to just try to forcefully absorb it now, but if he acted too rashly, it might become a Sin, losing its purity. In fact, he was sure that was exactly what would happen.
He needed a way to make the Virtue Seed of Greed… accept him. Or he needed a way to weaken its resistance enough that it wouldn’t buck against his control.
Sylas shook his head. ‘I’m a fool.’
It was a contemplated Sylas rarely if ever had. He was looking for complicated solutions like he always did when the answer was already right before him.
The Scorpion Emperor Armor.
His gaze flashed.
He just had to make one the Virtue Seed of Greed would have no choice but to acknowledge.
