[Bonus chapter thanks to Abda :)]
Sylas’ mind was practically blank. It was like he was lost in the limbo of time, moving forward and backwards through the stream of it as though present, future, and past had no distinction between them at all.
He had thought for a long time about why he couldn’t just translate his F-tier Infinite Void Mastery to the E-tier like he had every other mastery. He didn’t really understand why Infinite Void Mastery seemed to be the only step that completely disregarded his previous progress.
While Infinite Void Mastery had greatly helped him to reach Pure Spark Mastery in the E-tier as quickly as it did, it didn’t seem to have any effect on helping him reach Void Mastery at all.
And yet, as Sylas used backtracking and then retracing his steps through his Archon Casting to rebuild the Vulture Emperor Armor from the ground up, he found that every level was so very connected.
Why could he backtrack and retrace through the Rune Mastery levels, and yet he couldn’t seem to do the same with the Void at all?
Did it function by a different set of rules? What was the difference that separated all the other Masteries up to Spark from the step of Void beyond them?
WHOOSH.
The D-tier Vulture Emperor Armor took shape once again. Much like the previous ones, it was a deep black, a pair of feathered wings on Sylas’ back drooping down like a silent cloak.
There was a beauty to them now that had never been there before, as though the vulture had become something entirely different. Rather than a scavenger in the night, it stood as the final line of defense, a silent sacrificial warrior, one willing to shave off pieces of its Will in order to better foster and protect.
The head of an enormous vulture soared out from deep within the mountains of The Sanctum. It shot into the skies and unleashed a bird’s call that sounded eerily close to a phoenix’s… and yet it carried a bass to it that shook the heart all the more.
Sonorous and full, it made the hair of the Vulture Emperors stand on end.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Every one of their Wills began to change unbeknownst to them.
Many of them had already incorporated their Genes into their bodies, and they had long left the F-tiers, and yet it didn’t seem to matter in the slightest.
As though Sylas’ Infinite Will was undeniable, a cascade of changes was directly forced onto them.
And that was exactly the case.
Sylas’ Will had endless proliferation, and it was of a far higher quality than those Mortal Wills were.
The D-tiers on the battlefield couldn’t resist him at all.
One after another, their Armors were forced into being, the Runes shifting and changing in real time without their input. And yet, the changes to their Wills were happening in real time as well, forcing them to internalize the changes and evolve.
Spark Mastery…
It was such an odd name for what many thought was the pinnacle of Rune Mastery, but its definition had always been clear. It was the level at which one could force Runes into being spontaneously, the level at which a thought and a push of one’s Will was enough for a nigh perfect Will to take shape.
But as Gralith had said… Spark Mastery was also just the beginning of True Rune Mastery.
And that was something that Sylas had taken to heart since the moment he had heard it.
Now, his Will wasn’t just able to spontaneously force the creation of Runes of his own… but also that of others.
This was one of the highest level applications of Spark Mastery there was.
A level at which Sylas could force entire Lineages to become better Rune Masters with his Will alone.
Just like he had done for Gwenu all those months ago.
A word from him was already enough to elevate a Rune Master to another level. If he had this much focused intent on a single Lineage… They had no choice but to grow.
All of a sudden, dozens of deep black Vulture Emperor Armors appeared on the battlefield. Then from dozens they grew to hundreds, and then to thousands.
There weren’t many more of the Vulture Lineage than this, but the result and impact was immediate. Even their Genes themselves were forced to change under Sylas’ Will.
The result?
Their power grew by hundreds of times instantaneously. As though they had drawn their Armors themselves, the mastery of their Layers came naturally.
The First Layer, an ultimate defense. Their wings were like steel walls, impenetrable and untouchable.
The Second Layer, a shadowy movement. Their wings could cut into the void and allow them to slip in and out of the shadows freely. Not only were they hard to cut down, they were nearly impossible to cut in the first place.
The Third Layer, the final strike. They had the ability to sense weaknesses, to feel out the movement of causality and Luck through their Will and find the perfect strike for a death blow. This could be used to strike down an attack through its weaknesses, and in its strongest iteration… One strike. One kill.
The 713th Vulture Emperor, an old woman with skin as wrinkled as the necks of the creature she represented, raised her head to the skies and howled.
A bestial aura echoed from her in waves, and though she didn’t say a single word, her meaning was clear.
Thank you.
Her battle strength erupted. Not a single part of her cared that Sylas directly ignored her.
However, Sylas had his own reasons. That was because Yamero had finally gotten him the second Lineage.
The dove.
Without the slightest bit of hesitation, Sylas crushed it.
The world already knew him to be amongst the very best Rune Masters at his tier beneath Demi-Godhood. Unfortunately for them, they had still underestimated him.
A swarm of Runes bloomed around Sylas as his pupils began to dart around.
They had better send someone to kill him as quickly as they could. If they waited too long, he was going to make
The Sanctum an unstoppable force before their enemies knew what hit them.
