[Bonus chapter thanks to Abda :)]
Sylas was a live target every soul on the battlefield could see. Not only that, but everything about him seemed to paint him out to be an easy target.
Yet, there was something about the Oath that gave them pause.
An undying momentum wafted from Sylas, and even when he closed his eyes, his palm almost loosely closing over the polearm of his scythe, it felt as though he had not a single opening to exploit.
The Sanctum was on their back foot. The geniuses they had that should have been able to fight the current invaders were almost entirely in the Mancer Scape, while those that remained had been injured or had their Wills cracked by their earlier confrontation with Sylas.
Not only had they been caught off guard, they were functioning at less than full capacity. And yet, too many of the attackers made the same exact decision… Someone else would do it.
Someone else would do it.
… Someone else would do it…
Sylas didn’t seem to mind it a single bit. He stood there with the patience of a monk, a sea of flat land around him and a tall golden temple standing as his backdrop.
Every calm breath he took seemed to vanish into the winds as though he was binding himself closer and closer with the world.
“[Glassvolt Throne]…” he whispered.
Chi. Chi. Chi.
Right behind Sylas, floating just a little bit, an illusory throne appeared. It seemed formed entirely of Glass, giving off sparks of lightning from time to time.
However, this lightning was no longer just emerald. Strands of a beautiful amethyst weaved into it, and every time it cracked and whipped, it felt like fissures and fine cracks appeared in the world.
Sylas took another subtle breath and his Glassvolt Throne breathed along with him.
The World Serpent was a creature that could digest anything, incorporate any understanding into itself and project
it as its own power… What better aspect could there possibly be to add to [Glassvolt Throne]?
In the past, Sylas was limited by his Gene Class Skill’s tier and the world around him. But now, he had evolved [Glassvolt Throne] once more.
It could break down Runes of a much higher level into their smaller parts and then digest them, giving Sylas a better chance at comprehending higher level worlds.
And the best part?
Sylas’ eyes snapped open.
He was doing it with Demi-God Will now. There were simply very few worlds on the Mortal Plane that could block Sylas from understanding them not only thoroughly, but very quickly.
Reaching out a hand, Sylas could practically feel the skies above him rumble.
Since they were too cowardly to come…
He would do the work for them.
‘Die.’ Sylas thought calmly.
Chi.
The first bolt of lightning fell from the skies almost like a drizzle. The line was so thin one could have easily mistaken it for a trick of the light, or maybe the residue of a real lightning attack from a long distance away.
And yet, the moment it touched the head of its target…
They burst to ash.
Thin streaks began to fall from the skies one after another. And every time they landed… One strike. One kill.
Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi.
To say that it was a complete one-sided massacre was an understatement. The lines of lightning were so thin that it was hard to imagine they were any sort of danger at all. In fact, they were so thin that they were basically impossible to detect.
The D-tiers stood not a single chance at all. The D-tiers of B-Grade and B+ Grade Races were too weak to even remotely put up a fight.
Distance didn’t even seem to matter to Sylas. Everything within his line of sight looked like it might as well have been right in front of him.
Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi.
For a small while, many didn’t even realize that this was all Sylas’ doing. But as the streaks of violet and emerald became more and more numerous, and Sylas’ grasp of how to use this new attack of his increased exponentially, as thin as the strands were they became impossible to ignore.
Chi.
In a flash, a dozen streaks of lightning descended and a dozen lives were lost.
Chi.
Two dozen.
Chi.
Three dozen.
The world became like playdough in Sylas’ hands, bending and morphing to his Will. Or, maybe, it was the opposite… Sylas could feel the quirks of the world around him, what it wanted from him, exactly how the Lightning Runes of this A-tier World worked and how it liked to be used.
He focused less on the Glass and Lightning aspects of his Glassvolt Aether, and more on the Will crushing aspects.
No, this was no longer Glassvolt.
As he had said before.
This was Infinite Glassvolt.
Sylas only sent out a single strike, barely using an ounce of his own personal strength, and yet it multiplied. Guided by a Will larger than its own, it could feel out its enemies and strike them down.
They said that lightning should have been hard to control, they said it was the most unwieldy of the Mancy Paths, but Sylas didn’t seem to struggle even in the slightest bit.
Why struggle to control it when it could be guided by his Will? Why worry about it being deviated by something else when it could crush all such Wills in its path?
Sylas didn’t even move a single inch, and yet it instantly felt like the tides of the battle were shifting.
Battles that Emperors were on the verge of losing suddenly ended, weapons were blasted out of the hands of those too powerful to kill in a single strike, and a sudden wariness began to make their waves of enemies hesitate more and more.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Meteors continued to crash down from above, but the formation held strong.
If they continued to let him stand here and pick them off in battle almost carelessly so… They wouldn’t stand a single chance.
However, Sylas was thinking about something more. There was definitely no way that this was everything. And, there was one glaring question remaining.
Who was capable of using meteors to attack like this?
Was it just one of the A-tiers? Or was it something else?
