Chapter 1930: Perfect
Chapter 1930: Perfect
“Perfect.” Sylas nodded to himself, clenching and unclenching his fists.
He took a look at the A-tier creature who had been staring at him this entire time. He gave it a nod and then directly left.
The creature didn’t try to stop him, just watching the human walking off into the distance curiously. Even if Sylas had a God S-tier as a backer, the fact he was so calm himself was… fascinating.
The creature’s beak opened as though it was going to speak. It had so many questions.
Normally, it wouldn’t say a word to these invaders and would just directly strike them down. But Sylas was, obviously, different.
The A-tier creature hadn’t made it to its current level by being a fool or a coward, though. It had been planning on taking the risk to attack Sylas and get him out of its pool until it sensed the S-tier aura that suddenly peeled off of him and into the pool.
Although it was only the slightest percent chance, the odds of it reaching the S-tier had actually ticked up instead of down thanks to Sylas. As such, it couldn’t very well be as angry as it was before.
Creatures of a certain caliber already had intelligence comparable to humans, Gogo being an apt example. A creature that was of the A-tier was vastly smarter than the majority of humans.
It could see things others couldn’t.
At that moment, though, Sylas came to a sudden stop.
“You can understand me, right?” Sylas asked.
The bird beast’s gaze flickered, but it was enough for Sylas to take it as a yes.
So, he pointed.
“Right there.” Sylas said. “If you direct the poisonous S-tier energy toward that location, it will help you comprehend what you’ve most likely been trying to this entire time.”
There was a reason this bird beast was so protective of this place.
During Sylas’ journey around this fragmented Mancer Space, he had picked out a few regions that were closer to the Demi-God Realm than others. Every one of these locations had a powerful A-tier beast overseeing them.
Sylas had personally seen seven, but given the scope of the land, there might be a few that he had missed. Regardless, these regions were the places that were most likely to give them a chance at reaching the S-tier.
Unfortunately, it was a bit of a catch-22. On the one hand, these locations had exactly what they needed, but on the other, they were nigh impossible to comprehend. And, because these were Will Constructs and not real beasts, they had an even harder cap than usual.
They didn’t have the flexibility that bodies did, and didn’t have the same reliance on bloodline that beasts could usually rely on. Anything they gained had to either be eaten or comprehended themselves.
Obviously, eating anything with S-tier Will in it would directly kill them.
However… what if there was a poison specifically designed to break down more powerful things into smaller, more digestible parts?
Now wouldn’t that be quite convenient.
Before Sylas used the Hydra’s Will as a shield, he had seen the parts of the pool of golden waters that had the core of what the bird beast likely wanted most.
So, he decided to help it.
“Why do you help me?” the bird beast finally spoke.
It had a voice that was quite gender neutral; depending on your leanings, you could easily think it was either-or. But as gender neutral as it was, it was still full and almost ancient.
Who knew how long this creature had lived?
“You understand that I cannot leave this Mancer Scape, no? This is the only world that will allow me to exist so freely without having a fleshy body. And, you likely do not need my help against those brats with your strength, while you can easily deter creatures on my level with the God Will within you.
“So what do you want from me to help me like this?”
Sylas looked at the bird beast deeply. “You cannot leave this Mancer Scape… for now.”
After saying this, Sylas took a step and vanished into the void.
The bird beast’s pupils constricted into pinholes, suddenly realizing that Sylas had never really been in any personal danger at all, God Will or not.
This world’s space was truly too flexible.
“Yamero might very well want that ability, though…” the bird beast said softly.
Had Sylas shown him this before, it would have warned him. Unfortunately, Sylas was already gone.
Sylas appeared high in the skies, his eyes narrowing as he scanned things.
The task ahead of him was still the same. After all that, he still didn’t have a new Contract.
Honestly, he had been planning on gathering more than just one. He had never planned for the God Realm excursion to work out so smoothly. He had mostly wanted to, one, check out if his theory actually worked, and two, try his luck.
But somehow he had gotten his hands on a perfect understanding of a Hydra’s body.
It was hard to say how rare this was. The World Serpent’s acid had been so powerful it even directly burned through the Gene Locks, leaving everything free and clear for Sylas to observe.
But now he had a weapon he couldn’t even use.
Granted, Sylas thought about doing something similar to what he had done with his sister. He could potentially split his Infinite Wills and control the body of the Hydra like a serpent. But even if that was possible-which it was not only not, but also a waste of his time-he’d just gain yet another ability he had to split his Will to use, and that would be beside the original point of him getting Contracts in the first place.
He wanted a small army he could rely upon, and that required finding a Will that could fill in the Hydra’s shoes.
No, more accurately, he needed something that could fill in the shoes of the new Hydra Serpentes he was creating.
‘I may have to… help one of these Soul Constructs to grow, evolve, and level up first…’
