Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1415: He Alone

Pain spiked Sylas’ senses into overdrive, but his expression hardly seemed to give anything away. He was used to Dungeons where the main threat was the beasts or Demons within, but it seemed that this one was eager to kill him with the environment instead.

Even keeping your eyes open in such an environment was enough to blind most people. Luckily for Sylas, his eyes might ironically be the strongest parts of him right now.

While it couldn’t be said that they were as sturdy as a D-tier’s body just yet, they weren’t that far shy of such a thing either. The only thing holding them back from being at this level was Sylas’ F-tier existence.

After seeing that there was still no immediate danger, and registering the fact that he was only being pulled in deeper with every passing moment, Sylas’ aura flared and a strong pulse of telekinesis pushed outward, catching him.

The water was heavy, but still not as heavy as his telekinesis. The main problem was that it was smashing down with a force that was far greater.

Luckily, Sylas was only trying to protect himself, not stop the entire flow of water. So he formed his telekinesis into a pointed cone above his head, causing it to peel away in directions away from himself and minimize the weight pressing down on him.

He coughed up another mouthful of blood and shook his head.

The change was so sudden that even though he had the mental acuity to keep up, his body was still too slow to react. Although he could have deployed his telekinesis in time, the initial impact would have shattered it and damaged his Will, so he chose to take the blow with his body instead.

He took a slow breath, and then his body’s healing factor began to kick into high gear.

Sylas’ current slate of Genes could be said to be absolutely ridiculous. He didn’t just have thousands of Silver Genes anymore, he had hundreds of thousands.

He had gone from a State of Expenditure to a State of Wealth once again in a single bound. The only problem was that Silver Genes weren’t increasing his stats anymore.

Unfortunately, he had reached a Gene Stat Limit. But this one… he wasn’t too worried about.

His body was adapting very fast. As of now, his stats were already improving in real time.

His Physical had already gone up 51 points.

It had to be remembered that even when one hit a Gene Stat Limit, it was possible to make them more flexible by working out. Not all improvement had to be made by swallowing resources.

The efficiency with which Sylas improved through working out now, though, was on a completely different level. This wasn’t just because he was a member of a D-Grade Race now, but also because of Primus Imperium.

His body was like it was made of rubber, rapidly expanding to accommodate his new stats.

He couldn’t improve as fast as Nosphaleen because he didn’t have a Vipermancer overlooking him, but to improve this much in just three months spoke for itself.

In three minutes, even without using his Hibernation Halo, Sylas was back to full health.

With an exhale, he Fused with Gogo.

Gogo’s stats were only around 30 with the adjustments to the new system now, but it would still be quite useful, especially with the access to Hibernation Halo Fusion would allow him.

And if he really needed a bigger boost, then he could just use his Beast Totem and improve his stats by 5000%.

Sylas took a breath, a flash coming from his eyes. Then, he turned.

With a stomp of his foot, he shot downward.

BOOM.

Sylas landed on the ground minutes later with a heavy shockwave. Or, rather, the bottom of this vast, dark ocean.

No matter where you looked, there was little more than a sea of darkness. A heavy weight pressed down on you from above, and not only did it heavily weigh on your joints and strength, but it seemed to also be subtly sapping away your Aether.

It was subtle and almost undetectable, but it didn’t slip Sylas’ attention. He could feel the difference with immediacy.

Chi.

Sylas’ eyes narrowed. He felt the movement in the water instantly.

A spear shot toward him and he took a calm step to the side.

Movement was slow and heavy—if he was moving normally, that was.

But in the minutes it had taken Sylas to get here, he had already grasped the secrets of moving in this heavy water.

The heaviness of the water was only one aspect, but there seemed to be another power hidden within it… Time.

It was an incredibly simple application of time—erosion. If Sylas were to rank it on his Spacetime tree, it would actually be quite low.

He didn’t often use it in battle because it was something that required too much raw power. He preferred to use Time to trick the senses or multiply his attacks. Using something like erosion required him to already have greater strength than his enemy, and at that point he might as well use something that required less stamina overall… like his fist.

However, this entire ocean was littered with the power of time erosion, sapping at one’s stamina in all facets. It felt like just Aether, but it was far more than that.

If one spent too long in this Dungeon, you might even die of old age no matter how resistant you were.

But for Sylas…

This Domain that was so hellish for others might as well have been the back of his own hand. He had never seen such a high concentration of Time Runes just ready and waiting for his usage.

The best part?

This was an F-Grade Dungeon designed for Level 50s.

There was nothing it could create that wasn’t in his purview.

BANG!

Sylas’ fist ripped through the belly of a zombie, grasping its spine and then ripping it out.

He hadn’t spent all that time powering Nosphaleen up for this Dungeon. He didn’t need her here. He was only doing something he would have already done.

For this Dungeon, designed for 50 F-tiers with 15 000 Physical…

He alone was enough.
