It was obvious the other person was a bit perplexed.

Su Jianfan sighed as well.

“Mr. Luo, I was confused at first. I even asked her what’s going on with all this.”

“But she actually told me that secretly dating like this is really tiring for her. It makes her feel uncomfortable inside. She also feels this makes her uneasy, even uncomfortable. So she hopes I can understand her, see how frustrated she is.”

Su Jianfan’s words left Luo Fei a bit helpless too.

Yet he didn’t know how to offer comfort.

“Maybe after you guys calm down for a bit, you’ll start seeing each other again, right?”

Luo Fei’s words made Su Jianfan hesitate for a moment.

But he didn’t say anything either.

Almost simultaneously,

Luo Fei received a text message.

“Su Jianfan, come with me for a bit.”

“Is there a case?”

“Yeah, the tech department just told me they’ve run into a new case and hope we can help with the investigation.”

Luo Fei’s words immediately piqued Su Jianfan’s curiosity.

And judging from Luo Fei’s tone,

this case likely has something to do with information technology.

But moments later,

when Su Jianfan and Luo Fei arrived at the scene,

they saw it was the top-floor attic of an old apartment building.

The person living there was emaciated, with numerous needle marks on their wrists and ankles.

This immediately put the two on alert.

“Sir, are you the one who reported the case earlier?”

Seeing the two of them size him up,

this person was non-committal as well.

“Officers, yes, it was me. You don’t need to worry. I just have diabetes, so I always need to take insulin.”

“Oh, is that so.”

Luo Fei spoke, exchanging a glance with Su Jianfan beside him.

At this time, the middle-aged man was non-committal as well. “Sir, that’s not the point. It’s that I added a QQ number online before. The other person said they could provide us with cheaper medicine. So I added him as a friend. But after using his medicine for some time, I was shocked to find my condition wasn’t controlled at all; it actually worsened.”

“At that point, I realized I’d been deceived. What he sold wasn’t real medicine, just regular glucose syrup.”

Looking at the middle-aged man, he seemed a bit anxious.

Speaking up to here, he was somewhat embarrassed.

Luo Fei and Su Jianfan exchanged a glance.

“Sir, do you know the other’s exact address?”

“Officers, we usually communicate online. He never meets anyone offline, so I’ve always purchased things online. But I do know his exact address.”

“That’s good. We’ll send someone to find this person shortly. As for you, sir, I think you need to come with us. We need to make sure you’re telling the truth and not intentionally lying.”

Luo Fei’s words caused the man to shudder all over.

“Officers, what do you mean by this? Are you implying you think I’m deliberately lying?”

Watching the other person was shocked and almost couldn’t believe his ears.

Luo Fei was non-committal.

“Sir, I didn’t say that. I’m just erring on the side of caution.”

“Well, alright then.”

Luo Fei spoke, then instructed Su Jianfan to send someone over to take the man for a hair test.

He went downstairs himself.

Getting into the car with Lin Qingshan.

“Lin Qingshan, how’s the renovation of the house with Sister Lin going?”

“When are you planning to move in? We can go and have a meal together, then help you tidy up the house.”

Luo Fei was just idle chatting, wanting to inquire about his current situation.

But at that moment, Lin Qingshan sighed.

“Mr. Luo, don’t mention it. Just a few days ago, I told my parents about this. Hoping they’d accept Sister Lin. But they were really upset.”

It turns out, Lin Qingshan’s parents always felt that their son had a tough time.

Raising a child alone, and the child isn’t biologically his.

This inevitably would trigger some gossip.

And now, he’s actually planning to date someone who’s been married, nearly forty years old.

This is really something his parents can’t accept.

So Lin Qingshan had a fight with them.

He couldn’t explain it well to Sister Lin either, only feeling awkward in his heart.

After listening to the events unfold,

Luo Fei spoke seriously.

“Isn’t this reasonable and expected.”

“And in my view, sometimes, parents shouldn’t interfere too much in their children’s emotional matters. If they’re too tangled up, it just means they haven’t figured it out themselves. Trying to impose their ideas and desires onto others.”

At this point, Lin Qingshan was somewhat embarrassed.

“Mr. Luo, actually, I didn’t want to bring this up. After all, it’s my personal family issue. If I mention it, it may invite criticism. I also worry it might cause trouble for colleagues. So I’m genuinely a bit embarrassed.”

Seeing Lin Qingshan’s discomfort,

Luo Fei waved his hand.

“Qingshan, you’re overthinking it.”

“I know you’re probably feeling really bad. But there’s no need to be too tangled up. How about this, later on, I’ll personally visit your home once. Do some persuasive work with your parents?”

Luo Fei’s words surprised Lin Qingshan.

“No, Mr. Luo, isn’t this a bit inappropriate?”
